The hotel is on the main shopping street where all the designer shops are located. Rooms ok but a little small. Has a 25 meter pool on one of the higher floors - highest hotel in Chicago apparently. Pool (& building) used to be part of a luxury gentlemen's club and you can tell. We swam every day for a week and it was usually empty.
Hotel is 2 min walk from river where you can get a good boat tour around the city and learn some interesting facts about the city, architecture & gangsters. They also let you know which buildings certain celebrities & sport stars live in.
Night life good and loads of good restaurants. Best one we tried was Bandera (also very close to hotel). It is upstairs and the entrance is low key - you would not notice it if you walked past. Live jazz with excellent food and good waiting staff.
Subway system (CTA) easy to use and connects both airports to the city. Much cheaper & quicker than going by road.
Stayed 5 nights wished we could stay longer. If you like swimming in an elegant & private pool visit the Intercontinental.
