Looking for an inexpensive end of season break we could not have chosen better. George and family made us so welcome and though this was our first visit they made us feel like old friends.
Although end of season the bar was fully stocked, and breakfast and snacks available at all times, and the entertainment programme was still running.
Good location for all amenities within walking distance. Enjoyed so much we will return in 2006.

Just returned, loved it so much I feel really sad now. George and family are wonderful, sooooo nice and friendly.
Met lots of wonderful new friends. Hotel great, rooms superb, pool/bar area spot on and nice and cool during the hottest hours. Great location for the beach and bars in Kos.
George organises a couple of entertainment nights a week which are a must and help create such a special atmosphere. A perfect hotel for families, couple and friends. Guy xx

This year, once again we were greeted very warmly by the owners Barbara, George plus their son Elias and sister Rita. It was just like we’d never been away. :)
For this season George has had Sky TV installed much to the delight of the two 15 year old boys in our party... they didn’t miss a second of the of The Ashes or the England vs Wales football match!
Food at the hotel is good quality and reasonably priced. Check out the Village Rolls and Alice Springs big breakfast or one of Barbara’s “special” ice cream milk shakes. Yum!
The hotel cleaning staff work very hard to keep the rooms and public areas looking spotless. Clean towels and bedding are provided every day without fail. Even on the last day, before check out, we were given fresh towels so we could shower before leaving.
All rooms have air-con. Some have a fridge and TV also included. The bathrooms are small but functional and equipped with everything you would need. Beds are quite comfortable and mattresses don’t appear old or worn.
We had a small problem with our air-con on the first day but George fixed it immediately. He also managed to “save the day” by fixing our broken hairdryer towards the end of the week. This is typical of the hotel staff though as they are always around to help and offer advice, ring a taxi, offer local shopping tips etc.
A late (meaning a midnight) departure from the hotel was no problem. We were able to keep the room on right up till we left. This meant we could make the absolute most of our last day and didn’t need to pack till the evening.
It’s little things like these, which make a difference. Nothing seems too much trouble for the Alice Springs team and they really do go out of their way to make their guests feel at home. This is why we will be coming back again next year!

Alice Springs Hotel is located in the Lambi area just outside of Kos Town and is about a 15 minute walk into Kos town and the Harbour. There are buses, which run along the main road into Kos Town quite cheap at 1.5 Euro each. Or you can take a nice stroll along the sea front beach road. It takes a little longer (about 20 mins) but is a pleasant walk.
The hotel is family run by George and Barbara with help from their son Elias. George and Barbara are Greek but lived in Australia for many years so they all speak fluent English.
The family made us feel really welcome and went out of their way to please. They lent the kids a bat and ball set, let us stay in our room later than midday, as we had a late flight home, and there were even fresh flowers in the room when we arrived.
The hotel has a nice sized pool, which was, on the whole, quiet. Most of the guests at the hotel were not British but everyone was friendly. There’s a small bar where they serve snacks as well as drinks. We ate in the hotel a couple of times and found the prices very reasonable and the quality of the food good. I had breakfast every day in the hotel and it was faultless.
Our room had 3 beds and was very clean. Bathroom was small, typically Greek but functional. The bedroom had Air conditioning and a fridge, which was included in the price (most other hotels charge extra for these).
On a Monday evening George and Barbara host a Greek Barbeque. There was music, traditional Greek dancing, fun and games. A good night for everyone, kids and adults alike. Guests from neighbouring hotels were watching from their balconies!
The atmosphere at the hotel was very friendly and warm. There were even some people from the hotel next door who came into Alice Springs every night because they preferred it to their own hotel!
We booked the holiday direct with the Alice Springs hotel (check out their website www.alicespringshotel.com). From 2005 Alice Springs are also bookable via Thomson’s brochures.
Don’t miss out on the 3 Island Boat trip to Pserimos, Kalymnos and Plati. Take the POSEIDON from the Harbour at Kos Town. It’s a great day out. Aleco (the Captain) and his crew will make you feel really welcome.
A good holiday in a really friendly base. We like Kos and go every year. Last year we went to Kos 3 times and stayed at Alice Springs twice. We’ll be going back in August this year.
So far we’ve tried quite a lot of hotels but this one is the best. We’ll be regulars from now on!
