Stayed at Capo Bay for 2 weeks, returning on Aug 31, 2008. Was very aprehensive about accomodation due to reading reviews. We booked a family room with side sea view for 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 4. Room allocated was great. Plenty of room for all 4 of us, bedlinen clean, bathroom good standard. Even shower curtain looked new. Only downside, very small balcony. Air conditioning superb. However, I did speak to another 2 families at hotel who both advised that there room was exceptionally small and needed a good refurb and was not at all to 4* standards.
Due to being happy with room, I would definately book this hotel again and try secure a family room on the same first floor. Reception area was definately 4* and looked very modern and classy. Stayed on bed and breakfast basis and food was to a good standard. Pool area lovely and ideal for even the smallest of children. Beach towels provided and systems of being allocated a sun bed for duration of stay a good idea - however due to having a car for 3 days, our beds were taken but pool attendant rectified error by providing us another set of beds in a better location. Would definately reccomend this hotel

We booked a family room with a sea view but were allocated a room from which you could barely view the sea from. When I complained, the matter was dealt with efficiently and we were offered a replacement room which was much better.
The rooms are a little dated but are clean and quite large. The airconditioning in the bedroom was very good. The rooms are cleaned daily, with fresh towels also provided.
The hotel reception area has been recently renovated and is absolutely awesome. On first walking in, you really understand that you have entered a top class hotel. The decor is modern and the hotel is superbly airconditioned, which is essential.
Breakfast was first class, with a fantastic array of different foods on offer, to cater for all tastes.
The hotel is right on Fig Tree Bay, which is a great bonus. The sun beds are reserved for you and the pool attendants dealt with my requests in a friendly and accommodating manner. The hotel supplies fresh beach towels every day and this is a fantastic service.
Customer service in the hotel is first class.
The hotel is due to have its bedrooms renovated from November, to be completed in time for the 2009 season. This will make this hotel a 10 out of 10 hotel! We will definitely be back.

My daughter got married at the capo bay hotel on the 2nd july.It was a fantastic hotel and a lovely day. The venu for the wedding was a dream. The food was spot on there was enogh to feed an army. the weather was red hot every day. i would also recommend the hair dressers (TIARA) on sight at the hotel they were excellent (Teresa & Fud) they made a lovely job of my wifes hair (Ful head colour & Blond foils) and my daughters hair on her wedding day. The staff at the hotel were very friendly. the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, clean towels. Pool excellent sunbeds allocated on arrival. The reason i gave this hotel 9 out 10 is because the bar at the hotel was very expensive. A good place to have a steak i would definantly recommend oscars opposite mac donalds. Figtree bay beach just outside the hotel grounds is georgeous there is plenty of water sports to do. would recommend this hotel to anybody getting married in cyprus. will defo go back next year. We stayed at the Capo Bay Hotel for our 2 week annual holiday and we had also chosen the hotel where we were getting married on the 08.08.08. The Wedding was amazing the staff at the hotel were great they took all the stress out of the day and it was perfect. I will definitely be going back to the hotel and would highly recommend this hotel it meet all our needs and everything we read about it was on the Capo Bay website was true.
If only the tour operator that we booked the holiday through could provide the same level of service that the staff at the hotel did I’m sure they would be a lot happier people. We have a 4 year old son whose suitcase didn't arrive in Larnica we immediately reported this to the airline who got straight onto the case. We was met outside the airport by one of the first choice reps who was more interested in telling me that the coach would leave without us if we didn’t get on it straight away than listening to our situation. When we was on the transfer to the hotel I spoke to Justin one of the reps that made enquires and advised me that the suitcase had been found it was in Manchester and we would receive it at the latest the following morning! If only what our Rep told us was true! We struggled on that evening knowing that we would have the case in the morning all our little boys clothes, swimming items, sun creams were in the case however we wasn't going to allow this to ruin what was going to be a very special event. In the morning we went to reception to collect the case however it wasn't there! Once the Rep arrived in the Hotel for the welcome meeting we asked where it was to be given a number for the main first choice office in the resort at this point I spoke to Rachel who advised that they was doing all they could and I would have the case within the next 24 hrs! Throughout the course of events we had Debbie a First Choice Rep out the phone down on us as, I was advised again by Debbie " I wouldn't allow the fact that my son had no clothes ruin my holiday I would go out and buy a pair of shorts for 5 Euros" if I was only a pair of shorts we needed! I was told on more than 1 occasion that the case was found in Manchester and we would have it within 24 hrs, not once did the Reps make contact with me to tell me of any progress and the final straw was when we made a phone on the third day to Rachel at the office to be told that I was stopping her from doing her day job because I was phoning every couple of hours to ask for any news! By the way the case never turned up so the 3 days I wasted listening to the Reps that it was in Manchester and was been flown over was rubbish. I am disgusted by the way we was treated and how these people can be in a customer facing role when common manors, honesty and treating customers fairly doesn't come as standard to them. I am pursuing this with First Choice however they feel that telling me they are sorry for my experience and that the staff under go training is sufficient for the fact that we spent 3 days of our holiday chasing a case that was never in Manchester.
Needless to say we will not be using First Choice Holidays again as our tour operator and we had 53 guest who the majority of people booked with them who after our experience will be looking at a alternative tour operator when booking next years holiday.

This was our 11th time at the Capo Bay after getting married there in 1997.
The hotel just gets better and better, they have revampted the reception, bar and restaurant to a very high standard, and in the next couple of years are doing the same to all the rooms and eventually having a spa so they can open all year round.
Due to the revamp the amount of rooms is going from whatever it is no 250,I think to about 170 as they are making the rooms bigger.
The amount of people who return year after year just plays testimont to how fantstic this hotel is.
Ok, it was more expensive this year but thats due to it being the first year in the euro, but if you want quality you have to pay for it.
One of the best things is the allocated sunbed system, you don't have to get up early
to get a bed and its yours for the duration of your stay.
Overall had a fantastic time, would I go again??? just try and stop me if I can still afford it.
I have already checked the First Choice brochure for next year but can't find it, so not too sure if I will have to book direct, although looking at the costs I doubt we could afford it.

We just came back from our holiday at capo bay hotel. It was by far the worst holiday in my life.
This hotel is a three star hotel but charges like a four star. Our superior room was tiny with a balcony that could barely fit two people, the sheets were changed only one time and we stayed for 5 days, the kettle in the room was broken and I had to ask the reception three times and wait one and a half days to get another one and I needed the kettle because I have a baby.
They use hand soap as shampoo and they dont have miniture soaps or shampoos, only large bottles of them which are never changed.
The fire exit at our floor was used as a storage room.
Food is nice though! The beach is lovely but then again wherever you go to Protaras you will find a fantastic beach!
Im shocked to see that all the nice reviews come from people who had their wedding there.
Capo Bay hotel is a disgrace for Cyprus.

Me and my boyfriend have just come back from this hotel in Protaras on Sunday. We were extremely happy with this hotel. We stayed in the junior suite room which was absolutely lovely. We had a fantastic sea view. We got chocs put on our pillow every night which was a nice touch and our towels changed regularly. The cleaners were very friendly and cleaned the room thoroughly everyday. We were on bed and breakfast basis and there was a big selection of breakfast food which was very nice. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, in particular one of the night-time directors, Timothy, was extremely helpful when we left our camera in one of the taxis that dropped us back to our hotel after a night out in Ayia Napa. He was very friendly and helpful and managed to telephone the taxi office and get our camera back. If it had not been for him we would not have got our £300 camera back with our memorable photos on. He was very friendly and chatted to us every night. The swimming pool and area surrounding the sunbeds was very nice and very clean. Would highly recommend this hotel and would consider going back there. Protaras in itself was lovely and the strip was great with various restaurants and bars etc. Although, a restaurant called Il Basilico was particularly bad and the food was awful and the manager was extremely rude to us and threatened my boyfriend. Other than that, we had an excellent holiday in this resort and hotel.

4* hotel set on the nicest beach in Protaras, Fig Tree Bay. It is really clean and beautiful with plenty of watersports. (We would recommend Stavros watersports).
Standard hotel rooms a little on the small side and balconies just big enough for 2 chairs. We stayed in a sea view room, well worth the extra money, as the view was amazing overlooking the pool area and beach. Hotel has everything you would expect from a 4* hotel and the food was nice with a good selection to choose from.
The pool area is beautiful and very clean. Also no need to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed as each hotel guest has their own designated bed which is yours for the duration of your stay.
The location is perfect, the front of the hotel is a 1 minute walk to the main street where there is plenty to do. Lots of bars and restaurants to choose from with entertainment.

Just came back from a lovely family holiday in protaras and was slightly disappointed with this hotel. First impression of the hotel was very dull; the whole hotel is in desperate need of modernisation. As for the staff some were very friendly and some did not speak a word of English which I found very frustrating to get my question across.
The advantages of this hotel is that it is in a prime location the sea view was spectacular as we had a top floor room which was lovely however, the cleanliness is not up to scratch.
The cleaners are overworked and they do what they can, however, I found dirt on the bathroom door, dust along the bedside table even though the cleaners did come in everyday just to add towels, hoover and make the bed.
The food and drinks at this hotel is very expensive and not much of a choice for lunch, however the breakfast consisted of a variety of pancakes, waffles, fried eggs, English sausages, cereals, etc. The bbq on Saturday nights was very nice as had a wide choice of salads, meats and deserts.
The entertainment was very, very disappointing with not many activities for a young family to get involved with. Allot of repetition of shows with the only good show of the firebirds and the Cyprus night therefore, more effort could be put into their entertainment programmes.
I also found allot of locals visiting the hotel around the swimming pool areas with no supervision from the hotel staff and anyone can walk in and use the hotel facilities.
Overall, the hotel can be improved and can do extremely well however at this time it should be classed as a 3 star plus and not a four star, as I have stayed in A class apartments that deserve to be a 4 star hotel like the Coralia beach in Paphos.

My wife and I have just returned from the Capo Bay after a brilliant two weeks holiday, I read previous reviews prior to taking the holiday and was somewhat perturbed at some of the comments, however my doubts and fears were soon expelled.
The hotel is very clean and all of the staff were very friendly and professional, the food in the restaurant was excellent, instead of multi choices of dishes they were more selective in providing a choice of 5/6 main courses with starters and deserts.
The idea of having a sun bed allocated on arrival at first frightened me somewhat, as I am a sun worshipper and the position is all important, this proved to be negotiable and provided the beds were not occupied by others then this was your space for the holiday duration, towels were also supplied and could be changed at any time during the day.
Anyone taking a holiday here will have wonderful and relaxing time. Having read previous reviews the ones that knock the hotel are in my opinion unfounded.
I would definitely return to this hotel.

My husband and I have just returned from Capo Bay Hotel after spending a week there.
I cannot fault anything at all everything was perfect, the hotel, staff, pool, beach, weather all great.
I would recommend that if you do not have children then try and get your sunbed by the pool where no children are allowed under the age of 18, as the other pool was slightly over crowded with children.
We saw a few weddings the setting is perfect. We will certainly be going back again in the near future. A great Hols.

We came to the Capo Bay to get married, and we were not disappointed.
Capo Bay is very well positioned and so close to the beach. It did have steep steps to beach, but also had a slope down for buggies.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and Katerina was lovely. They all made a huge fuss of my 2 young sons.
We booked a junior suite which was roomy and had amazing views of fig tree bay. We had beach towels brought to our room daily and it was cleaned perfectly every day.
The junior suites were marble floor bathroom and glass sliding doors, so not very child friendly but had a nice travel cot and our 3 1/2 year old slept in a single sofa bed and was fine. We had chocolate hearts on our pillows everyday and in the cot too which the kids loved!!
We (as did a previous reviewer, I think we were wedding day twins, hello Mrs Searle from Essex?...) had the worst weather ever on our wedding day, but the hotel staff made the inside wedding room and reception look lovely and nothing was too much trouble.
The reception food was lovely and so much of it.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and resort of Protaras and Capo Bay is a beautiful place to get married, can’t guarantee the weather though.

Just returned from an 11 night stay at Capo Bay with my husband and two children 10 and 7.
This hotel is very average but charges an over average price.
The hotel is in a perfect location in the centre of Protaras and right on the doorstep of the lovely fig tree bay however, the hotel itself is a real let down.
Rated a 4/ 4 star plus, this hotel really only merits a 3 star. This hotel is stuck in the 80's. 80's decor, 80's rooms, and very bad 80's entertainment.
We booked a superior room which although adequate, think of a very bad Travelodge room and you will get the picture. The bathroom however was fine but the balcony left a lot to be desired.
The balcony had a great view of the pool and the sea but was the size of a postage stamp that barely accommodated its small table and two chairs. This was hugely disappointing for us as we enjoy sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine but it was too small for my husband and I to sit on it never mind our children.
The room was cleaned each day to a high standard but if you can, avoid putting your clothes in the wardrobe as they will smell very badly of dampness when you come to put them on.
On the plus size the hotels pool areas were excellent and the added benefit of having your sunbeds reserved for the duration of your stay was excellent as is the fresh beach towels each day.
Breakfast was also good, lots of choice. Cereals, continental and English breakfast were all available, and you can eat as much as you like (my kids loved that part).
If you can avoid it, don’t eat at the hotel pool restaurant, very expensive and very average. There is a large bakery 5 minutes from the hotel that does fantastic sandwiches, pastry and cakes that does take away service.
Protaras is also very expensive; we paid over £2300 for our holiday and spent over £1400 in the 11 nights. Eating out is expensive as are non local alcoholic drinks.
All in all we had a good holiday but remain disappointed with the hotel.
A note of caution however, if you are travelling with Olympic and are impressed with the private taxi transfer they offer to the hotel don’t be!
On arrival in Cyprus we were transported to our hotel in what I can only describe as a builders mini bus well past its prime with no air conditioning and builders smell to match. Our luggage was packed in a trailer behind this so called mini bus and we spent the whole journey watching our luggage just in case it flew out of the trailer.
On our return to the airport we were picked up 1hour and 20 minutes late from the time stated ( I think Olympic forgot about us and only got a bus to us after 2 frantic phone call to there not very helpful local office).
This time it was not a builders van but a mini bus with no air conditioning that stopped to pick up other people in another resort even though we only had 1 hour and 15 minutes to go before our flight left and we were still 45 minutes away from the airport!
Our Olympic rep was pleasant enough but I would not recommend Olympic as a company.
Final note if you intend to hire a car - don’t arrange this through the Olympic rep. We paid 70 cyp for 2 days car hire and it was half a day late being dropped off.
When we complained we were offered an extra day for free but that was no good as we were leaving on the free day!

A fantastic hotel, located just off the main strip (50mtrs). Extremely clean, and well presented.
Hotel has two swimming pools, one for adults, and the main pool suitable for children of all ages. Located handily for the beach, I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Breakfasts are excellent, and offer a huge variety from continental, to full English. One point though, be early, as seating soon gets taken up.
Only other recommendation, is though the rooms are nice and clean. Maid visits every day, they are limited in space.
Thoroughly recommended for a family holiday.

Overall the hotel is of a good standard but does not warrant the 4* rating that it currently has.
If you go with the expectation of staying in a UK Travelodge you won't be disappointed.
Rooms are cleaned every day with beds made and fresh towels if you require them and staff are friendly and helpful.
We stayed on a B&B basis, breakfast is OK with plenty of choice (we agree with other comment about the v. watery scrambled eggs...) and you can eat as much as you like.
The hotel is in a superb location both for the beach and the nightlife (not recommended for young couples, groups etc).
The only downside (which some might see as a plus point) is the option to reserve your sunbeds for the entire stay, we searched on the first day of our holiday and could only find un-reserved sunbeds at the back of the gardens near to the communal toilets.
This was extremely frustrating as the majority of these reserved sunbeds were not used every day... watch out for the German community reserving breakfast tables too!
All in all we can't complain. We also heard a rumour that the hotel is due to be upgraded to 5* but I guess the prices will also be upgraded too.
