The Capo Bay hotel was recommended to...
10 / 10
May 2007, Mrs S Searle

The Capo Bay hotel was recommended to us by a friend when we started looking for the perfect place to have our wedding.
We looked at the website and were impressed by all the information and pictures it provided.
In 2006 we booked to stay in a hotel in Ayia Napa and when we arrived went to check out Capo Bay, straight away we were impressed. So when we returned to the UK we booked our 2 week holiday and wedding there.
Despite many problems with First Choice we had a fantastic time.
The staff in the hotel were very friendly, Katerina, their wedding co-ordinator was fantastic. They all made a fuss of our 3 year old daughter too, which was nice!
We did have one little problem, which was when we got into our room we found we had two single beds pushed together we wasn't really what we had imagined for our honeymoon. But the next day they moved us to the room next door with a double bed.
The view from our balcony was absolutely gorgeous, just like in the brochure.
The hotel was very clean. Breakfast was lovely, yes the same food each morning but there was so much to choose from you could have something different every day.
Our wedding day was lovely too.
As we didn’t have a full length mirror in our room, one was brought up on the morning so I could get ready.
We actually had the worst weather on record for 150 years on our wedding day but it was still fantastic.
The food for the reception was gorgeous and the room we got married in was decorated beautifully.
We only arrived home 5 days ago but are already looking to book to go back next year for our anniversary. This time though, not with First Choice.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of getting married in Cyprus, especially as if you are unlucky like we were and have bad weather on your big day, they do have indoor facilities which some other hotels do not!

After landing in Larnaca airport we...
9 / 10
May 2007, Miss C M Buckenham

After landing in Larnaca airport we were ferried away to collect our baggage and then get a bus over to the resort.
The Libra reps are very well updated on arrivals and the directions are easy to follow after thinking (from the brochure) that we would be on the bus for an hour and a half we were on the bus for aprox. one hour which wasn't too bad.
On arrival at the hotel someone took the luggage up to the rooms for us which made it easier than four of us trying to fit into one lift.
We had booked two rooms, one sea view and one inland view, after thinking we might be quite a trek from each other, we were shocked to find that in actual fact the rooms were right opposite each other.
The hotel is separated into two different blocks, the main block has all the single rooms with twin beds in and the other has all the twin/connecting rooms.
The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities along with the safe box as standard; you can rent the mini fridge for £2 a day. The balcony is small but fits two fine. The bathroom has a nice strong shower, and the water doesn't take too long to warm up.
The hotel is based on the beach front in the centre of Protaras, based on the "Strip" aka High Street, which is a one way street with plenty of stores, pubs and restaurants.
However even though everyone in Cyprus drive on the same side of the road as the English, they don't necessarily know what a zebra crossing is! So be very wary when crossing the road and watch out for buses.
Whilst we were in Protaras we played mini golf (just over the road) at Fantastico, went on the road legal go carts (£5 for 30 mins) at the Takos Brothers which is further into the heart of Protaras but still on the main strip, next to Ghetto Bar.
We spent a lot of evenings in a open plan pub called the Love Boat which had regular entertainment every night and is well worth a visit, with good prices and table service.
In the hotel they did offer room service however we chose not to use it can be expensive. Be aware of the lifts as they can break at any time and a word of warning they jolt when they reach the selected floor.
The pools where lovely and cold not deep but very refreshing. The beach is down a small flight of steps (very steep) which although small, is the desired beach in Protaras; it offers a selection of water sports based at each end of the beach.
We were booked on half board after a free upgrade on the early season deal and the morning meal was virtually the same every day, full English with some extras, a range of breads, cereal and juices.
Although very similar each time it was delicious, in the evening they had a variety of foods changing each night.
However there is a huge range of restaurants around including the cheers bar, friends pub, only fools and horses pub and a whole lot more.
So all in all it was brilliant the only problem I can see would be the prices and the chicken which was always dry.

We went to Cyprus for a stress free...
8 / 10
Dec 2006, Miss H Chang

We went to Cyprus for a stress free wedding, which I suppose it was in a way compared to here in England.
When we arrived we found there were extra charges added to our wedding, which obviously we had to pay because we wanted to get married.
To get married outside under there gazebo it was an extra 70cyp,which we think is crazy when its only for a few minutes and we had already paid a fee to First Choice weddings and for the hotel accommodation, but apparently we were lucky because next year its going up to 200cyp.
Anyway the champagne breakfast never arrived the morning after, and after a call to reception we were told we had to order it the evening before, (the last thing you think about on your wedding night when you have had a few).So it was ordered for the next morning instead, but apart from that the wedding was great, and the photo's were wonderful.
The accommodation was good, there was a small fridge and a kettle, a TV to keep our daughter entertained whilst we were in the room. The view was gorgeous but I expected the balcony to be a bit bigger.
The breakfast was lovely a lot of variety, great for those who want a full English. There was also waffles or pancakes, cereals, ham and cheeses, cakes and a variety of juices, basically something for everyone.
I went to Protaras a few yrs ago and loved it but iv grown up a bit since then and i do think there are a few to many English bars, now i.e. friends bar, only fools and horses, Elvis etc.
I don't think there were enough places with a Greek/Cypriot atmosphere, but I suppose they need to appeal to the English market how they see it best.
There wasn't much to do in the day, probably would of preferred it if we were able to go on trips but we didn't want to drag a one yr old on a coach. The water world at Ayia Napa is good for those with older kids if they are brave enough to go on some of the slides.
We had a £2 discount off the taxi driver so it was 14cyp, only my husband went on the Kamikazi a few times and that was it.
For those with children under about 12, I would suggest the water park in protaras, I hope I haven't put anyone off Capo Bay/ Protaras it was lovely and I am an anti smoker and I didn't find the hotel smokey, as some people said it was.
We will go to Protaras again but not until our daughter is older as we were limited to what we could do, but it was for a special occasion that we went away. My parents have been to Protaras for the past 4 years and have booked again for next year, they can’t get enough of it.
But I would suggest to a family with children of our daughters age that an apartment with a kitchen would be best and not a hotel as we found that some afternoons we didn't want to eat but obviously children do and we didn't have the facilities to just knock something up.
The maids were excellent and we had the same one for most of our stay, she was so good we gave her one of our many bottles of champers that we had.
So to round it up, I think Capo Bay is great for couples and families with older children and Protaras is great for families but we just found not with infants.

Nov 2006, Mrs L Smith

My husband and I took our two children aged 6 and 5 during the May half-term break. We have been to Protaras before but this was definitely the best hotel. We booked B&B but were automatically upgraded to HB without any extra charge. The sunbed reservation system was fantastic, all hotels should take note of this - brilliant. Lovely food, hotel, swimming pools, beach, shops, bars etc. Everything was so close by, no need to hire a car. Would definitely go back and next time will book directly through the hotel and not through Olympic Holidays who I didn't think much of!

We were upgraded from BB to half...

Oct 2006, Ms J Williams

We were upgraded from BB to half board free of charge through First Choice because of the week we were arriving at the Hotel, a little worried that we would not be as no one would confirm the upgrade in writing, but there’s was nothing to worry upon arrival.
Always a good choice for breakfast and dinner, the food was lovely and in abundance (albeit I craved something a little spicy once home!) I did ask to change rooms due to what I presumed was a very noisy air conditioning unit outside the room, but again no problem and was given a superior room the following morning straightaway. Cannot fault the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff, nothing was too much trouble.
Clean beach towels where available everyday, so long as you handed in your dirty ones. The idea of being allocated your sun loungers for the duration of your stay is brilliant, you can choose where you would like to sit, be it around the pool (although little noisy because of the children) or like me decided to sit somewhere quieter in the gardened area....no getting up at 6am to bags a sun lounger, bliss!
The beach is just down a flight of steps which was clean with the sea being ideal for children and adults alike, loads of water sports available as well. Entertainment in the hotel wasn't brilliant but loads of pubs and restaurant only a stroll away. Basically couldn’t fault it and would definitely go back again.

what can I say about this Hotel, We...
10 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs E Beardmore

what can I say about this Hotel, We booked the Capo Bay Hotel after we saw all the pictures on the internet and it looked really nice with the hotel over looking Fig Tree Bay we knew that this would be the perfect setting for our wedding, and my partner and I were not disappointed the pictures did not do it justice.
All of the staff at the Capo Bay were very pleasant we got to know quite a few and generally stopped to have a chat. The rooms were immaculate with fresh towels every day also they offered a wide range of food and drink available at breakfast and it was second to none.
Our wedding day was also amazing thanks to the wedding co-ordinators from Aphrodite Weddings and Katarina the co-ordinator from Capo Bay they worked together to make it a Magical day. The little things they did for us like putting Champagne and Fresh Fruit in our room on the day we arrived was nice and we also had champagne and chocolates on the day of the wedding.
Fig Tree Bay which you can access from the hotel, it is literally a 2 minute walk through the grounds, the view is breathtaking but the water sports and snorkelling are what made it for us, but not only was the hotel right on the beach you were a stones throw away from the main strip. We had some fantastic nights out and we found some lovely restaurants that served excellent food and were great with my 5 year old too. Once we had eaten we then took a stroll down the strip and visited a few of the bars, there are Karaoke bars: live entertainment bars and also themed bars like Fools and Horses and Friends who show episodes of the programmes.
I would highly recommend anyone to visit Cyrus and the Capo Bay Hotel. I was told that I would fall in love with the island and I did that’s why I am booking up again to go next year.
Fantastic Holiday A++++++++++++++

Oct 2006, Mrs I Keefe

We stayed in a junior suite for a week. Suite very nice, but on passing some of the other bedrooms, whilst the maid was working, we felt that they just looked a bit dowdy. We found nothing outstanding about the capo bay, and from the look some of the public areas, they could have done with some renovation.
A la cart menu was a bit of a rip off. Restaurants in the area served much superior food at a fraction of the price. Service was slow, at one stage we thought they must have forgotten about us and were prepared to leave when they eventually appeared with our food. That was the one and only time we dined there at night.
Breakfast was just OK, greasy bacon, strange looking watery scrambled egg, fruit choice was grapefruit, one type of melon and a watery looking fruit cocktail.
We would have thought 3 stars were quite enough for this hotel.

Sep 2006, Mrs J E McIntyre

Returned last week from our sixth holiday in Protaras. As regular visitors we had always said that we would stay in the Capo Bay hotel one day - and this was it! We certainly weren't disappointed. Everything you need is on your doorstep!
What made it for us was being able to walk from the poolside down onto Fig Tree Bay, snorkel, swim, drive a speedboat, whatever, and then a few short steps back to the hotel. Magical! The hotel is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent. We were lucky to be in a Superior Sea View room which had a large balcony and superb views over Fig Tree Bay.
A big plus is that your sun beds are reserved for you from day one until you leave which took all the stress away wondering if you would get a bed or not. If there is one criticism I would make it is that the sun beds were a little uncomfortable, in that they did not have the padded cushion, just the material, which after a few hours could get a bit hard!
A previous review has mentioned the complimentary towels which were also a big bonus. I thought I would take a beach towel with me 'just in case' but you really didn't need it. Room service was excellent with daily attendance. ALL IN ALL A FAB HOLIDAY!

Just returned from a great holiday in...

Jul 2006, Mrs J Houston

Just returned from a great holiday in Cyprus. Capo Bay is a fantastic hotel. On arrival I was pleased to enter the fully air-conditioned hotel and to a warm welcome. We were then upgraded to a sea view room. Rooms where adequate size and balcony was a bit small but all fine this is the only downside.
The rooms where spotless and cleaned daily with fresh towels added. Staff where very friendly and loved my 2 year old. Best thing of all was the reserved sun beds. No having to get up early or afraid to leave your bed for lunch, they where yours for the whole stay, with 2 attendants on all day to monitor this. Very safe, we could have left anything at our beds and nothing was moved. Also don’t pack beach towels no need. I did and where never taken out of case.
Protaras is great. Loads of restaurants and bars to choose from and very friendly.

We have just returned from our...

Nov 2005, kismetkaz

We have just returned from our honeymoon in Cyprus and must say that the Capo Bay Hotel is just fantastic. It is a 4* hotel and it deserves it. We booked a twin inland view room with a request for a double bed. We were upgraded to a sea view room with a double bed. There was a present, cake, wine and fruit awaiting us when we got there.
Our room overlooked the swimming pool and directly onto the sea. The balcony was a bit small, I have read other complaints about this, but there was enough room for two of us to sit out there.
We were provided with a safe and a mini-fridge, along with plates, glasses and cutlery.
The maids made the beds daily and tidied the room up. The towels were changed if you left them on the floor and the toilet roll was renewed daily.
The sunbed reservation scheme is fantastic, you are allocated a sunbed for the whole of your stay. Capo Bay also provided beach towels as well.
Breakfast is a huge buffet, with cereals, fruit, toast, cakes, and a full English (Cypriot style). We had so much food it was unbelievable and we also took a bit extra for lunch as well!
One word of caution though, do not go there after 31 October as the hotel was closing around us in the second week! The first week it was full due to half-term, but the 2nd week there were only 35 rooms let out of the 235 and it felt a bit lonely. It was nice and quiet, but a lot of the facilities were taken away during the week and the resort of Protaras was closing around us.
I would really recommend this hotel and Protaras itself.

Sep 2005, Mrs G Warding

CYPRUS - friendly, sunny and very clean.
PROTARUS - one long street with dozens of bars, restaurants and shops. Enough nightlife for most people - and if you like Elvis impersonators you will not be disappointed! Live music and karaoke on every evening in most bars. Regular bus services until mid evening to Ayia Napa etc at less than £1CYP. Taxis reasonable. If there are more than 4 of you then look out for a 7 seater Mercedes taxi - it works out cheaper and all the drivers are a bundle of fun.
CAPO BAY HOTEL -Deserves its 4* listing couldn’t get closer to the beach... Fig Tree Bay. Hotel immaculate. Daily cleaners left us astounded every day, because we thought we had got a new room - it was pristine.
Food - well there was just too much - ok if you are used to eating 6 course dinners! But what a choice...even with 4 teenagers in the group. Many of the staff are British (lucky them) and they are very efficient and friendly. The pools are fantastic and a welcome relief from the heat. Recommend it.

Aug 2005, Mrs J Rowlands

Hotel was superb, new sheets & bath towels everyday.
Beach towels everyday, don’t take any with you, you will not need them.
You can leave your bags by the pool and no one would touch them it was great.
The food was great there was so much choice. If you didn’t fancy going to sit in the dinning room you could take your breakfast up to your room and no one would say anything.
All the staff were so friendly & helpful.
