The Calabria is a good 2 or 3* hotel. It is primarily for self-catering basis, however, there is a breakfast bar available, if required. It is based in the L’Eixample (commercial) area of the city. The city centre, the main train station (Sants), and some of the sights are within walking distance. The Metro and bus services are within 5 mins walking. A supermarket and large store are next door.
The rooms are very satisfactory, with a living-bedroom area, separate kitchenette (hob, sink, fridge) and full en suite bathroom. Laundry service is available on request. (The only reason I’m not giving a 10 is because we didn’t have an oven/grill in the kitchenette!)
The rooms are cleaned everyday and the hotel as a whole is kept extremely clean & tidy. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and speak good English.
All in all, the Calabria is highly recommended by family and myself. We had a very enjoyable stay. They didn’t even charge me for refitting the bedside drawer that I broke accidentally!.

This hotel is adequate in many ways. Its location is away from the busy streets of central Barcelona but close enough to hop on the excellent metro system and be in the centre in minutes.
Reception is clean and cool, the staff are pleasant without being over welcoming.
Rooms have reasonable facilities, a small bathroom with short bath to shower in is adequate, the rest of the room acceptable with low budget furniture some of which had seen better days. The room would certainly benefit from a repaint and general tidy up, it had that well used feel and appearance.
Breakfast in the breakfast room was acceptable though the Spanish have still not got to grips with bacon.
Overall this hotel is adequate but I am sure there are much better for the money.
