Bella Vista Apartments - Studios - Bar Reviews
" Fabulous place, grim accommodation "
Submitted By: singingringingtreeWe had a two-bedroom apartment. The furnishings were basic, but good. The cooker looked so dodgey we didn't use it. One of the electric sockets was hanging out of the wall with wires exposed - at just the right height for inquisitive children.
The real disappointment was the bathroom. The toilet was crammed in the corner at an angle and you had to sit forward as the (supposedly overhead) cystern was below shoulder level. The bathroom sink leaked and had a huge dirty bowl underneath it to catch the drips - we reported it but it was never fixed. The bathroom cupboard had grime in the corners and there was a dirty, fungus and toothpaste encrusted glass on it from a previous stay. Having to put soiled toilet paper in a bin rather than down the toilet was a bit of a shock, but we were told Corfu has poor drainage systems and everywhere is like that.
Half way through the week my daughter took a shower and the whole apartment flooded, soaking our cases, shoes and clothes. The cleaner (who seemed to be always on duty) came to help us get rid of the water and pulled up the outside drain to find it completely blocked with hair and dirt. The water had gone down the shower tray plug hole then back up through the drain in the bathroom floor bringing loads of dirt and gravel with it. Same happened when we flushed the toiled.
As mentioned by previous posters, the pool was fantastic and the family running the bar were great. The location of the apartments also meant that everything was in walking distance.
You get the impression that the owners of the apartments try to get away with spending as little as possible on them and I don't think Thomas Cook could possibly have checked this apartment for years to make sure it deserved its 2-star rating.
Advice: Beaches fabulous but take swim shoes as stones can hurt after a while
Activities: All restaurants were good. Horse riding great. Hire a boat to visit the inaccessible beaches.
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mrs P ChampionWe were a party of 2 adults and 2 x 16yr old girls. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment, Kitchen and Toilet/Shower-room which was very clean and tidy, the maid came in every day to change towels, empty bins etc, although her English and our Greek was not very good we were able to communicate quite well with one another.
There was a small balcony where you could relax, looking over the Greek gardens and Lemon trees.
As previously mentioned 2 x 16yr old girls, we felt safe enough in Kassiopi to allow them to stay out until 01:00am (where as back home they would have to be home by 10.30pm). Every one in Kassiopi was very freindly and more important we have visited several Greek Islands. 'Kassiopi is the ONLY RESORT where you are NOT PESTERED TO DINE IN RESTAURANTS'!!!
We hired a car from ARROW TRAVEL (run by Nick who's English). Unfortunately, we had a break down. However, Nick gave us a contact N0 in case of any problems, we were able to speak to someone who spoke English on the phone, we were sorted within 30mins of breaking down (Thanks Nick).
Bella Vista is situated in a beautiful side street, which is a very short walk from the shops, bars, and sea. Although there is not a sandy beach in Kassiopi, there are some lovely rocks that you can bathe on and there is a pebbled beach within easy access of the shops and bars. Kassiopi Harbour is a very pleasant place to visit day or night with bars and restaurants.
Look forward to returning to Kassiopi again one day.

Submitted By: Mr S CliffordThe hosts were great (Nicquie, Rob and Ben) and did a great job ensuring that we were looked after.
We stayed in no.5 and everyday the room was cleaned and tidied for us by the very friendly cleaner.
I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of staying in the resort.

Submitted By: Mr S WalkerThe pool is very clean and well maintained, it's a real joy to swim in it when you need cooling down; also the pool bar is very welcoming and serves a good selection of drinks and food. For evenings the town provides a good range of tavernas and restaurants, the taste of southern Italy is worth at least one visit. There is also a family run taverna on the high street which serves fantastic local food, and there are many more to try too.
There is a good selection of shops with some really nice gifts on sale, we found one shop selling linen and olive wood made locally in the town at really good prices.
Kassiopi is an ideal holiday location for families, it's safe for the kids, very friendly, and has a good range of things to do without being too quite (or loud). We will certainly go again with the grand kids, and stay at Bella Vista.
P.S. Hire a boat in the harbour its miles better than a hire car, and more fun than should be legal.

Submitted By: Miss A TurburvilleI booked a studio, as it was just me and a girly pal and when we arrived I discovered that I DID have a studio overlooking the pool WITH air-con (payable locally). I had been looking through the Manos brochure and it said that only the pool view apartments have air con, so I was keeping my fingers crossed.
Well just so you know, if you ever book a studio apartment for this development, it will definately be pool view and air con, cos there are only 2 studios in the development and they are both in this block. There is also a 2 bed apartment above the 2 studios and a 3 bed apartment on the top floor, which are a bit more luxurious than all the rest and come at a premium, so in total just 4 apartments overlook the pool. The others are in another 3 separate blocks, which are a bit older and def don't have air con, or the same views.
Seriously this studio I booked had a double bed, a single bed, a cot, a wardrobe, a table and chairs, bedside tables etc and still had massive amounts of room besides to walk about, plus a separate kitchen and bathroom which were in very good nick. The views from the apartment were amazing, looking straight down over the pool, through the mountains, with the most amazing sunset every night.
They was literally about a 1-2 min walk to the village square, yet you can never hear any noise whatsoever from the bars etc. It feels like you are a million miles away when you are sitting round that pool with the lovely views.
Rob and his partner who work behind the pool bar are lovely and very English. They made no hesitation at making me a very well done (burnt) bacon sandwich every morning from brekkie at my request. The Greeks don't cook meat as thoroughly as I like normally, so it's great to have an English bloke behind the bar, that understands how things should be cooked!
Anyway I went to Kassiopi at beginning of July and it was a bit quieter than I expected. What I mean by quieter, is that it was mainly families or couples young and old and me and my pal being 25 years old, felt like we could have done with a few more singletons around. Not that I'm into raving it up, cos I certainly am not, hence why I booked Kassiopi in the first place. I would say there is about 10 livelyish bars, a few quieter ones a couple of small clubs open till 6am and loads of restaurants to choose from. I frequented No 7 quite a lot, plus De-Ja Vue and Passion club, which were all pretty lively towards the end of my holiday.
Kassiopi's white pebble beaches are absolutely beautiful and I took around 150 photos just of the beaches, because every time you walk towards them, the view takes your breath away, so you keep taking photos of the same thing. The harbour is very well kept and tidy. In fact the whole village is very well looked after, even all of the restaurants and accommodation look like they have been quite recently built.
Kassiopi is the only resort I have ever been to where there are about 30-40 different day/night trips to choose from. I recommend that you do a couple of trips (booked directly in a travel shop in the village, NOT your tour operator) to get you out of the resort a little, cos even though I think the resort is wonderful, I don't think there is enough to entertain you every single day for a week or 2, morning and evening.
One other thing I would say, is that the food and drink in Kassiopi is not the cheapest. I don't know whether this stands for the whole of Corfu, but I found I had to draw out extra money at the end of my hols, cos I was getting a bit low, which has never happened on any of my hols before... I normally bring money home!
One thing lastly is DEFINITELY bring insect repellent. I brought with me, insect repellent aftersun, which I applied all over after a shower, PLUS a separate Jungle formula mossy spray, which I sprayed on all exposed areas when going out at night and still got bitten. I then bought one plug in for the room and still got bitten, then finally I bought a Greek version of the spray (which apparently is the best one to buy, cos it is made in Greece and they should know how best to repel their kind of mosquito!! ) and also a ANOTHER plug in and had both of them plugged in continuously for the rest of the hol and for the last night, I didn't get bitten!! Hooray!!
Finally to sum up, I would definately recommend Kassiopi to most age groups, great for couples, but not really for big group of friends looking to party hard and meet loads of similar people. I would definitely recommend these apartments, cos Rob makes you fell so welcome and they are by far in the best location, with a great view.
And lastly I would say in general that Corfu is a very pretty island with lots to do, hence why I am going back at the end of September this year to show my sister and my nephew how lovely it is!!! Happy holidaying!!

Submitted By: Mr G FitzgibbonWe were escorted to our rooms and when we arrived at our room we thought we were in the wrong place. Our room was magnificent, it had all the mod cons and it felt like a home from home.
We got too sleep at 4am and woke to glorious sunshine, we opened the veranda doors and we were met by a wonderful view.
The rooms yes.... Rooms, were very clean, not a speck of dust anywhere. The cleaner came in every day, she was wonderful.
If you want a holiday were you can relax have no hassle and still enjoy yourself when you want too...Kassiopi is probably the place for you. Everybody makes you feel welcome and you feel very safe.
