Great holiday
I have just got back from teh Telemessoss and had a lovely holiday! The rooms were good, but basic - but you only sleep and get ready in them, so who needs anything too fancy? The hotel staff were all lovely - we had a few occassions where they helped us out with different things and they were really good! However, the one downside was the food! DON'T stay half board - the dinner really isn't great and we just ended up eating out in the end! The breakfast was very basic but edible! But the tea was awful! But I would recommend the hotel - its 2 minutes from the town, which was handy! And there is a free bus outside the hotel every morning at 10am to take you to the lagoon - Josef's beach! Don't miss that! They then bring you back about 4.30pm! The hotel don't tell you about it, you find out by word of mouth! Oh, and feed the cats in the hotel! We was all smuggling cat biscuits in for them!
fantastic holiday
we have been to the telmessos two years in a row with exception of this year, from the first onset we arrived at the hotel we found everyone very welcoming, the hotel itself is spotlessly clean, the rooms are on the small side, but the way we look at it is only a place to sleep, as we venture out into the town which is lively and full of differrent bars and restaurants for every palat, the karaoke bar on the corner is brilliant and the staff as in all bars and restuarants are very friendly, the staff at the hotel from the maids (who do a excellant job especially in our room!!) to the owners who take time to come and talk to you or buy a drink at the bar are very welcoming and can't do enough for you, zaffa and oz are brilliant wiv there wicked cocktails, ,jokes and tricks. food at the telmessos is excellant and offer a varied choice, the breakfast is also of same standard, we have already booked to go back in may 2007 as we miss them all.
Really nice hotel - would definately stay again!
We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of August for 2 weeks and despite the bad reviews we read before coming we’re pleasantly surprised. The rooms are pretty basic with beds, dressing table with mirror and bedside cupboard in the bedroom and a shower, toilet and sink in the bathroom however unless you are planning to spend your whole holiday in your room this is not a problem and the rooms catered for our needs perfectly. However, if you want your room cleaned you do have to leave your key at reception by midday and we didn’t usually get the key back until 4pm so it’s a good idea to get this done when you’re out of the hotel for the day and not hanging around by the pool. The pool was quite large and never got overcrowded and there are plenty of sunbeds around to sunbathe on. Lilo’s etc are also provided. There is a bar by the poolside where you can order drinks and snacks from and this plays music from around 10am to 2-3 pm – this can be quite loud as the night draws on but it didn’t really effect my sleep (especially after a few drinks!) and I am a light sleeper. The music is turned done at midnight. The hotel holds a Turkish night on a Wednesday which is highly recommended. It only costs £10 per person which includes a typical Turkish buffet (delicious), BBQ and entertainment which included belly dancing and traditional Turkish dancing. On Sunday nights the hotel holds and bingo/karaoke night at the poolside bar. The location of the hotel is perfect – it is a mere 5 minute walk into Hisaranou centre which is filled with bars, shops and restaurants – you are spoilt for choice! But it also far enough away to feel as though your getting away from the hustle and bustle. As we were B&B only we tended to eat out in Hisaranou most nights as we felt the Hotel prices were a tad expensive. There are many types of restaurants you can choose from in Hisaranou – Italian, Chinese, English, Indian, and Turkish and we never had one bad meal. Restaurants that come highly recommended are Peppino’s (Italian), Busy Bee’s (Turkish) and Festival Restaurant (Turkish). All meals are very cheap and usually cost between £10-20 including drinks for 2 people. There are plenty of bars to visit in the evenings although someone are more expensive than others so check the pricing lists before deciding to stay. The shops are also open until 3pm and you can get very good fake goods for very reasonable prices – I had to buy a bigger suitcase to take all my purchases home! It is worth haggling though and visiting a few places as prices tend to differ. One night out that comes highly recommended is Talk of the Town – for £17 you get dinner, a free drink and a show from English drag queens – it is very funny and well worth the price. In the day time, aside from lounging by the pool you can get a Dolmush (that is how it is pronounced, but not spelt!) From Hisaranou down to the stunning beach, Olu Deniz in which there are many water sports you can do. There is also a blue lagoon there which is stunning. There are many excursions available too at reasonable prices – we went on a jeep safari which was very very good and a cruise which was also very enjoyable. The safari is a must to do during your stay – just be prepared to get very wet! Make sure your valuables are waterproofed, you take sweets for the local children and a water gun is also advisable! Overall we have an excellent holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Telmessos Hotel with its friendly staff and beautiful location. I would recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Hisaranou – all the other hotels we saw paled in comparison. We would definitely return.
A Great Hotel
Arrived at the Telmessos around 3.30am after a long but comfortable coach trip from the airport. Greeted by friendly staff at the hotel reception and shown to our room which was small but clean and more than adequete. Due to the heat I highly recommend paying the extra 25pound for the air con, this may seem expensive but is well worth it. We were given a card to use at the hotel bar, the bill did seem to mount up very quickly and we decided to pay it off half way through the week and limit our purchases to bottles of water and the occasional beer. Although there was a sign at the entrance telling guests not to bring in food and drink, our bags were never searched so this was not a problem. Breakfast at the Telmessos was served between 8am and 10am, this consisted of eggs, bread, tomatoes water melon ect. which was fine. As we were on half board basis we always had an evening meal which I would highly recommend, the meals were tasty and very generous. Although on the wednesday we decided not to attend the turkish night which cost an extra 10pound, we were required to eat out on that night (which did annoy us abit). I would recommend the chinese restaurant in the resort which offered great food and good value for money. The resort was very lively, full of restaurants, bars and clubs. A short minibus trip into Olu Deniz runs all day around every 5minutes. I would not use the taxis, the drivers are unfriendly and speak next to no english. I would highly recommend the paragliding, its a once in a life time experience ! The boat trips run every day for around 5pound, they are fun and well worth a fiver ! I would definiatly recommend this hotel to young people and anyone who isnt to fussy. With amazing mountain views, friendly staff and lovely pool area with plenty of sun loungers the hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. If you are travelling to the area make sure you stay at the Telmessos !!
Loved every minute
We're just home after a tremendous two weeks. We booked bed & breakfast at Telmessos and were not disappointed with either. We had a groundfloor room by the pool. The rooms are basic but nice (and clean). We only showered, dressed and slept there, mostly we were outdoors so it was ample. The hotel's location is great. The mountain view is beautiful. The town is only five minutes walk from the hotel. Hisaronu is buzzing in the evening. We loved the atmosphere. There were lively places or chill-out places to suit our moods. To really chill-out we'd catch a dolmus (mini-bus) to Oludeniz (ten minutes away) laze on bean-bags on the beach, sip cocktails, watch the sun go down while music played gently in the background. Breakfast at Telmessos: The bread is gorgeous! light boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, meat, olives, melon, yoghurt... There'd be four dishes of different flavoured jams and honey on the table, also juice, tea, coffee. We adore the Turkish. They do hassle you to buy - it's just how it is in Turkey - they didn't persist if we said no. Buy clothes there - some great bargains/ great styles (check the sizes though!) We went on several trips and enjoyed them all, horse-riding, scuba-diving, coastal boat trips, swimming with dolphins.... The Turkish BBQ night at Telmessos cost £10 per person - there was lots to eat, Turkish traditional dancers, Turkish hip-hop dancers, belly-dancers, fire-eaters.... The bar staff at Telmessos should be famous. If you like the film Cocktails you'll enjoy being served drinks by these guys. And dance! These guys can dance! The music did play on until quite late but we were all so exhausted at the end of each day it never stopped us sleeping We had such a good time we're definitely going back. Only thing I disliked - mosquitoes! I'll be better prepared for them next time.
Never again!
Just returned from the Telmessos having spent two weeks living under the Hotel’s ‘regime’. Our transfer from the airport took two and a half hours after dropping off people at about ten other hotels. We arrived at 4.30 am and were shown to our room which is the smallest room we’ve ever stayed in being only about 12’ square. Luckily we were on the top floor overlooking the pool but it seemed a majority of guests were initially given a ground floor room (partially sub-terranian) and then moved to a higher level when they complained to the Management. The bathroom was adequate with decent shower but the lighting was terrible in both bathroom & bedroom. You don’t get a top sheet for the bed, only a heavy cotton cover. I’d suggest taking a large sarong to pull over you, as it would also act as a mosquito net! The rooms were only cleaned if you handed in your key between 8-midday but then weren’t always done until late in the afternoon meaning you had no access to your room until the cleaners had finished. Never heard of a Hotel before that didn’t have a master key for the staff to use. Also the towels are like sandpaper but a good form of exfoliation! The staff are generally friendly with a couple of misery-guts behind the bar. The Hotel runs some kind of extortion racket with their drink prices. A bottle of water costs 4x the amount you can get it from the supermarket but the Gestapo on the front gate will search your bags to stop any food or drink being brought into the Hotel. This was our biggest criticism. We strongly objected to the sign erected outside the front door (see attached photo) forbidding you to bring in your own provisions. We asked our Rep why this was and she said the Hotel was having trouble with an ant infestation and food and drink from outside would make matters worse. But they didn’t object to you taking their food and drink to your room! The Manager said that if we wanted to use the Hotel facilities we were obliged to buy everything from the Hotel bar. I was under the impression that when you booked a bed & breakfast package, you were also entitled to use all the facilities whether or not you made any purchases from the bar. We heard that they also objected to travel kettles in the rooms and faced the possibility of having them confiscated! If you book on half board basis you will be expected to pay extra for your meal on their ‘Turkish Night’ although personally I would refuse as this is just another excuse to extract more money from you. The Management needs to change their attitude towards their guests and allow them the liberty of spending their own money where and on what they choose. If not, make it an all-inclusive hotel. Problem solved! Hisaronu resort is not what we expected. It’s too commercialised and you’re constantly hassled by vendors to buy their goods. Full of jewellers, handbag & shoe shops, tacky souvenir shops, fake designer wear and trip organisers. Bars too loud trying to compete against each other. Long gone are the days of a cheap Turkish holiday. Needless to say, we won’t be going back, especially to the Telmessos.
Please read me
Just got back from Telmessos hotel and after a delay and arriving quite late we were pleased to see the hotel. On arrival we were informed that air con would cost a further £25 a week and a safety deposit box was approx £7 per week which was located in reception. We turnt down the air con! We were also given a card to which you use as a credit card in the hotel for purchases from the bar and restaurant you pay the bill when checking out (be careful as this can mount up very quickly). We were initially put into a ground floor room even though when I booked the holiday I requested either the first floor or top floor we asked to be moved. We entered the ground floor room via the pool side. Once we were in there we opened the front door and found that it was barricaded on the other side with plastic chairs not great if there was a fire a big Health and Safety issue. On the fourth time of asking on our first full day we were moved to the top floor which was great and had lovely views looking over Hisaronu Mountains. The first night we went into the main part of Hisaronu to eat and had a big shock that everything is in pounds not lira and it felt like we were still in England it was very British and very loud. A bit of a culture shock for me and my husband who had been to Icemeler (another part of Turkey) a few years back which was the complete opposite. We picked up a bottle of water and returned to the hotel to be told that we wasn’t allowed to bring any food, fruit or beverages (including water) from outside into the hotel! Even if the hotel didn’t provide it this left a bad taste in our mouths, not a good start to the holiday. They even had staff checking people’s bags to make sure you didn't sneak anything in. This upset a number of guests as people were talking about it around the pool and complaining to their reps. The hotel itself was very clean and pretty on lovely grounds and the staff were very friendly. The swimming pool is a great size and good sunbeds with mattresses. The rooms themselves are very small and basic and lacked storage only having a wardrobe, 2 small shallow draws and nowhere to store your suitcases. You are required to hand in your room key to reception if you want your room cleaned or when leaving the hotel, be careful as a number of times I was given the wrong key or there wasn’t anyone on reception and you could help yourself! Music from the bar was very loud at night until 3am which at times your bedroom windows were rattling and you couldn't sleep the second week however did become a little quieter (not much). I felt sorry for the young children staying there. The buffet breakfast was generous but everyday was the same, it was a traditional turkish breakfast containing eggs, melon, olives, cheese, bread, cereal, yogurt and jam. You are expected to vacate your room at 12 noon on the day of leaving, if you require your room for a further 5 mins or 12 hours you are required to pay a set fee of £10 for this service. Overall I think this hotel has a good foundation but the management need to look at some of their rules as it appears they were very greedy and would get money off you at any given opportunity. We certainly won't be going back there. This particular resort made us feel like we were a walking pound sign. Also a little tip take your own food and drink to the airport as a packet of crisps costs £4 and 2 Mc Donalds meals cost £16 and the duty free was very expensive, everything in Euros. BE WARNED!
great location
Arrived at the telmessos after a terrible journey where the driver was nearly falling asleep at approx 6 a.m. The room that was allocated was a garden view, however it overlooked the solar panels and a wall. After speaking to the man on reception we were changed to a lovely room overlooking the pool on the 3rd floor of which we had the sun on the little balcony all day long. As it is turkey the rooms are basic but clean and you can only get 1 person on the balcony, but you only sleep and get ready so this was not a problem. The hotel has a great pool area with plenty of loungers (a little cold though), lovely bar area which served a good variety of food at a reasonable price. Great views as you are located up a slight hill. Only 5 minutes walk to the left of the hotel brings you to the start of the resort road, which is shut off to traffic at night. However when in the hotel you cannot hear anything from the resort just peace and quiet. Try Dominos restaurant at the far end of the resort. A little bit pricier than the rest but worth every penny. About a 4-5 mile walk out of the hotel to the right takes you through the pine forest onto Kiya, which is a ghost town. Just something different to get you out of the resort. Will definatly be going back in the forthcoming years as I have never been to a resort where the locals and the people on holiday are as friendly as here (and I have been travelling abroad 4 times a year for the last 6 years at least). Definatly recommend Carole and Tayfuns Boat trip and the turkish bath at Olu deniz. Only downside is that we wasn't there long enough!
Super Friendly Telmessos
We have just returned from Hironosu in Turkey where we enjoyed a fabulous break at the Telmessos Hotel. From the time we arrived until we left we found the staff to be very friendly, hard working and welcoming. The room we had was basic but functional. Suggest that you take your own hairdryer as the one in our room wasn't working and wasn't going to be replaced. Minor quibble was air con for which you pay extra £25 per week, the door key also controlled the electric in the room which meant that when you left the room and took key out of it's slot all the electric went off including the air con! We remedied this by removing the key from the key ring! The food at the hotel was varied and very well cooked and presented, the portions being more than adequate. There isn't much in the way of entertainment at the hotel apart from an excellent Turkish evening but a 5 minute walk takes you into Hisaronu where there is a huge selection of bars, restaurants and clubs. The pool and bar area is very clean with plenty of sun beds and a very good sized swimming pool, plenty of room for all. The hotel is ideally situated being in a quiet location but with loads to see and do just on the doorstep. We will return!
Brilliant Telmessos
We have been to the telmessos 3 years in a row, thought it was excellent value for money, found the staff very friendly, even remebered us year after year. The rooms are basic but very clean, food was very good. The entertainment was sparse but the Turkish nights were great fun.
