" Have just come back from sani... "

Have just come back from sani village, and felt the need to warn you guys about the rip off that is the resturant attatched to it, we went bed and breakfast so had to eat in the evenings, outside the village are a number of very nice resonable resturants to eat at the tomato being the best, however due to a rainy evening and having a 2yr old with us we booked into the resturant !!!!!! oh my god what a mistake, the food at 45 euro's a head was a disgrace.

My partner and i have eaten all over the world and have travelled greece from end to end and this excuse for 5 STAR dinning is the biggest fib ive ever come across our bill came to 130 euros and that was us having one drink each, yes yes i hear you say but thats for 3 courses, yes i agree but if you count a small bowl of mince and pasta ( meant to be spagt bolg for my little boy and one spoon of ice cream, adult meals were crab cakes to start followed by the main of one pasta which was vacum packed pasta pieces you can buy here at home and a puree tom sauce, and a playing card size piece of sea bass for my partner ( whom i have never seen leave fish in all our time together ) followed by some desert from the mornings breakfast, this was accompanied by a freezing cold glass of red wine for me and a frothy beer for him, i asked to change my wine, got a huff then another glass of wine warmer but half the size of the freezing one !!!!! ah 5 star service at its best.

The rest of the place is ok if you like being in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farming and industry, pool is very nice, but a bit like a venus fly trap, very nice to look at but so mind blowingly cold that you think its getting warmer after a few mins of getting in because your body has gone numb, kids cant survive more than around 3 mins without having to get out, my son had blue lips after 5 mins of swimming, and no weather was hot and had been for weeks before we arrived at out swimming fate, beach was a cracker much warmer than the pool, and the area around the place is nice but takes all of 2 days to cover from end to end so think twice if you like to explore.

Seems to me that the whole place needs to drop maybe one star to a 4 to maybe be telling the truth, the dine around thing is very odd ( we didnt have it ) but did get 20% off the outside eating places, which makes the village rest even more of a rip off, rooms, we had a standard suite are nice, clean and warm, little gardens are great for kids but some are very over looked by genral traffic around the complex especially the ones with a pool view.

Go for food at the tomato, and the mojito bar, and also the macaroni ( italian ) which is greek italian but very good, in fairness we ate at all the resturants outside the complex and didnt have an issue with any one of them, they were all reasonably priced and the food was good, seems to me the HEAD staff, NOT the waitresses and waiters at the village resturant are more favoured to higher paying guests which in its self is a great shame as the rest of the staff are very good at what they do and will do all they can to help you. Beware that unless you are staying at the porto sani you wont be able to use it's beach, and the other beaches are nice but not so cared for, the sani beach hotel looks a little tired and the beach club looks shattered from the outside, but has a lot going on, on the inside so do have a good look before you got.

The porto sani village it seems is a little stuffy, but very pretty, plush and much more expensive for everything while the other 2 seem a little left behind by their rich sibling, but are more down to earth and cheaper, the choice is yours.

" We have been to Porto Sani 2 times... "

We have been to Porto Sani 2 times now, first in Sept 2007 and our second visit in June 2008. As a family with a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old this place is just perfect for us. The suites have been redesigned over the winter and the result is a much better use of space with a great big bathroom.. great for a family.
The pools are great, pool side service and room service superb.. ideal for feeding the children on the night you have a babysitter and eat out on your own!
Eating out in the marina is not as expensive as you might expect of such a special place. The A La Carte food and service in the Artemis at Porto are lovely but more expensive that the meals you can get on the marina. The Byblos restaurant is very special with special prices to match but worth it for a real treat.
The most special aspect of Porto Sani for me is the attitude of the staff, without exception they are delightful, nothing is too much trouble and they seem to understand how important your holiday is to you!
I love this place, having stayed at many luxury hotels on business across the world, this is the place I would recommend for a stress free luxury family treat. They have just got it right!

" This was to be our honeymoon, Thomson... "

This was to be our honeymoon, Thomson think we got what we paid for don't think so, the room we ended up in doesn't even exist in there brochure!

My wife and I booked this holiday one year previous for our honeymoon, as an exclusive luxury 5 star suite hotel which is what we were promised in the Thomson a la carte brochure, with a 5 star price for a high standard. We expected and thought this would be worth it for our special holiday. On our return I can only say that we feel devastated, let down and disappointed by Thompson for the poor service and accommodation as our provider. I have listed each complaint from the Porto Sani village Hotel.

Day 1, Monday arrived at hotel and had to check in to a temporary suite for first night only in the grounds of the hotel as per booking.
Day 2, Unable to unpack or go to reps meeting at another hotel as we had to leave the above room which was insisted by the hotel and move rooms by 12pm, then stay for our holiday outside of the hotel grounds. We explained we didn’t want to move because we had the room we booked, the hotel explained we had no choice. Still waiting at reception until 13.30, luggage stored in luggage room and waiting for a room to be allocated and ready. 14.00pm taken to our room 500 meters away from the hotel complex at the other side of the resort.

Our room number 04 was over the shopping complex by the marina, this was not stated in the brochure from which we booked. The hotel complex is advertised as guests suite based at the luxury 5 star hotel and the brochure does not state any different to customers accommodation.

Room information in the hotel state marina room guests may take there breakfast in the next door ‘SEE You Bar & Restaurant’ instead of the inconvenience of going to the hotel for breakfast, we requested this from reception and they say that was last season and out of date, so we had no option but to go through the resort every morning. Then go all the way back to our room to get ready for the day and the beach or go to the bathroom.

Kitchen area was behind 2 cupboards with no microwave or any facility to make a cup of tea or coffee only one pan to boil water in, the fridge was small and full of goods you could buy at the mini bar with nowhere to store anything. Kitchen cupboard door broken. Closet area was 1 wardrobe for our 2 week holiday in this 5 star a la carte hotel. Damp in closet / wardrobe. Draw in wardrobe broken and hanging off. Bathroom tiles missing and broken. Bathroom bath and shower tape loose and broken. Bathroom shower screen over bath had sharp rusty edge. Bathroom every night was full of ants, we had to plug the holes with toothpaste to stop them getting in. Door frames loose and didn’t fit. Furnishings and cleanliness of our room was of poor quality and not to the standard promised. Holes and wires hanging out of the walls.

Bracelet with only sentimental value was taken and missing out of a draw in our room. Noise from the shops below early morning until midnight (12.00am) when they closed with no privacy on our balcony, people were back and too all day. Loud music from the camping site beach bar behind our room all day until 4am or last man standing.

No sun beds available on our hotel beach as they were all reserved for other guests early morning and all day, reception explained they take advanced bookings to reserve beds on the beach and by the hotel pool.

We noticed every morning as we walked through the grounds of the hotel to go for breakfast that by 8.30am all the beds by the pool were reserved and taken. In our 14 day holiday we were never able to use the outdoor pool or have a sun bed to relax on, this was due to the fact we were not staying at the hotel or given the room we paid for. We had an idea to use the sun beds and the indoor pool which was for adults only but we were not able to use the empty sun beds outside the glass doors by the indoor pool area because of the children staying at the hotel. We were on our honeymoon and we feel discriminated against because we weren’t a family with children, in the 14 days nobody used these beds which were empty, what was the purpose?

Breakfast in the restaurant was poor, tables were not set, cutlery and napkins missing. Hot buffet breakfast food was cold and of poor choice.

After our fist week we complained to the hotel hospitality manager about the problems that we couldn’t use the facilities of the hotel and the problems surrounding the use of sun beds by the pool and the beach, she tried to explain there reservation policy, this was not 5 star relaxation and luxury as promised.

Hotel evening buffet restaurant only catered for a maximum 70 guests so everyday this was booked as they explained the hotel was full, under the circumstances we had no choice but to only use the hotel for a cold breakfast and the odd drink by the bar if we were out walking by.

My wife went 1.5km early every morning at 7.30am to go to the Sani Beach hotel beach to find 2 sunbeds for us to sit on and use for the 14 days of our honeymoon. No other hotel in the resort allocates and expects guests to stay for their holiday away and out of the hotels grounds, every other hotel gives and provides all facilities to there guests.

When my wife went to the Sani Beach Hotel to find the Thompson rep to talk to her about our stay, she was unhelpful to our problems explaining that the room we were in was an upgrade, she then explained that we should be sympathetic because the resort is busy in August. That is not our problem and does not match the description in the brochure, it totally contradicts the type of holiday we paid for. Then she explained that she only makes visits to the hotel by appointment and she never came to the hotel or our room to see us, she did contact the hotel reception by telephone to inform them we were not happy.

The Hotel staff explained later when we went to see her at reception that our room allocated was not an upgrade but an overspill for couples or 2 people as they were not family rooms and would not usually place families with children in these rooms.

It is not an opinion it is a fact we were made to feel like outcasts on our so called luxury honeymoon which we had planned for a year, in anticipation of a wonderful, relaxing, luxury holiday in a tranquil setting. After the tension of our wedding (Saturday 4th August) we did not expect what we got after we were suppose to have had a 5 star holiday. We have travelled to Greece for years staying in different resorts understanding the price you pay is represented in the accommodation, location and facilities available, we certainly paid top price for a no frills 2 or 3 star studio with limited use of facilities. The level of accommodation and the location of our room was completely misleading and untrue from the description in the brochure, it was an upsetting and shocking time on this holiday which we would not recommend and never repeat.

" What a lovely place! We went for two... "

What a lovely place! We went for two weeks for our honeymoon and were overwhelmed. We did not get an upgrade of room (which was subject to availability), but we had a lovely junior suite, with a king size bed, and very spacious west facing garden!

Kitchen handy for lunches/ snacks, and the maids are only too happy to do your washing up! Turn down service was a nice surprise - as were the chocolates on the pillow every night (don’t know if they were just a honeymoon thing?).

The pool was fabulous, but could have done with more loungers with spongey cushions (only 10 I think, which were taken early in the morning). Didn’t have much trouble finding a lounger during our stay - either at the pool or the beach.

Food in the hotel is lovely, but dine around service did give a good variety! 'Tomata' was our favourite, but try them all!

The cinema was great - but take your insect repellent. Lots of ants, but didn’t cause us much bother.

Definitely deserved of its 5 stars (bathrooms could be improved). You should get what you expected for the price.

I wish we could afford to return!

" Just returned from holiday, we as a... "

Just returned from holiday, we as a family of four have been to sani before several times. Hotel needs to have improvements made in my opinion the bathroom is to small and beds are very uncomfortable, they are about to have all rooms updated for next year.
Pool is great but beware the sun beds have towels laid out very early and if you arrive after 10am don’t expect to find a sun bed.

The private beach is great in front of the asterias suites and the sea very calm for young children, about a 5 minute walk.

Restaurants in the marina are very pricey. The quality of food has improved in the hotel-there is a new chef and now a new restaurant manager. Children’s menu needs to improve a great deal, a lot of your usual fried nuggets, fish and chips....in fact we made a suggestion that there needs to be vegetables on offer and maybe some food grilled or roasted.

The staff on the whole are very kind and friendly. The hotel on the whole need to upgrade its standards to be a truly 5 star hotel.

" Everything about this holiday was... "

Everything about this holiday was excellent.

The children were made very welcome and there was a lot of daytime activities for them to do, but you did have to walk or take the complimentary bus to their sister hotel for kids club.

The food in the hotel was top class and the dine around option was great, plenty of lovely restaurants on the marina.

The beach is very safe and calm with waiter service to your sun loungers.

Rooms are very spacious with excellent facilities including kitchenette, DVD player and hair dryer.

There are a lot of families here in school holidays so the children make a lot of friends and are busy most of the time; there is a bike hire place in the marina and a lot of cycle paths to go off riding on.

" After reading all of the positive... "

After reading all of the positive reviews of the Porto Sani Village I decided to book a Junior Suite for 2 weeks on B&B basis. Being led to believe by our tour operator that this was a superior room.

Upon arrival I was extremely disappointed with the accommodation, the room was small, dark, my wife and I had single beds and my son had to sleep on a sofa bed. The staff are excellent and definitely warrant the 5* status but the accommodation and restaurant are not 5* star quality.

Overall our holiday was good but to sell this as a 5* package is a bit misleading, this resort was well below other 5* hotels we've visited.

" Peaceful relaxing holiday ...... "

Peaceful relaxing holiday ... immaculate service, spotlessly clean resort, white Caribbean beaches, lagoon pool at Porto is magic, especially at night.

Wonderful oriental spa. Book a deluxe suite and you can enjoy your breakfast in the Byblos restaurant. Entire staff including management is excellent, everything will be done to make you happy.

Ideal holiday for people who are looking for a classy, peaceful and serene atmosphere.

" Porto Sani village offers excellent... "

Porto Sani village offers excellent accommodation and a great opportunity for a relaxing family holiday. we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

The varied options for food was excellent as was the quality. We would recommend this as a great family holiday so much so we intend to return again this year 2006 with the grandparents.

The facilities offered at the kids club and shuttle service to the beach were much appreciated by the children. The private beach and waiter service on same were much appreciated by the parents.

Evening entertainment was varied and low-key which we liked however the children did like to go to the marina and the cinema which they enjoyed.

" The Sani Resort comprises four hotels... "

The Sani Resort comprises four hotels so to speak; Sani Beach Club, Sani Beach Hotel, Porto Sani Village and Sani Asteria Suites. We stayed at the Porto Sani Village, situated behind the Marina, the hotel providing courtesy buses to take you to the Beach Hotel and Beach Club. The Asteria Suites are basically on the edge of the Marina, enjoying their own pool, but at a price! Personally, we preferred the Porto Sani Village. A very classy hotel that I can honestly saw is faultless! The apartments are very spacious, with a kitchen area and albeit we didn't have a room around the pool, every part of the complex is wonderful, surrounded by beautiful shrubs and perfect lawns!

We booked through Airmiles and having experienced Greece many times, we decided to take the bed and breakfast option. Wrong decision! You can't wander out of the resort - the next village is miles away! There are only two negative views on this resort and that's one of them! We like to stroll around and see different towns but you would most certainly need a car to explore! The only place to go of an evening is the Marina, which is very pleasant but a bit tiresome after the first few nights! Going back to the B&B option, take my advice and go for the Half Board option. The resort has a "dine around" programme which allows you to eat in some of the restaurants around the Marina and if you prefer to stay in the hotel, the food in Porto Sani Village is superb - really superb!

The Asteria Suites are the crème de la crème of the resort and are provided with towels and spongy sunbeds on the beach! You're allowed to share their beach and enjoy the free iced drinks and ice creams that are sometimes offered. The guests at Asteria Suites are allowed to go/dine/swim anywhere on the Sani Resort but no other guest is allowed into their complex - very protected, but very beautiful, but you'll find that most of the time the guests use the Porto Sani Village pool because it's bigger and there's a little more going on.

The bar in the Porto Sani Village is wonderful and overlooks the pool – in fact, you can't fault the Porto Sani Village.

Our only other negative point would be that the Marina is very expensive. We eat out a lot and do travel quite a bit and we expect to pay for 'what we get'! Unfortunately, we didn't expect to pay so much for a 3 course dinner. There are a couple of very good restaurants (we spent £100 on two occasions for dinner) the others are OK and could most certainly improve!

Apart from that, we would most definitely return, next time taking the half board option and hiring a car!

A fabulous holiday overall and one week was plenty for us!

The resort was very clean, the service and staff excellent - in fact there was very little if anything to fault about the whole holiday.

The staff went out of their way to be helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The apartment was spacious with excellent facilities. The pool area was extremely clean and large. The food in the resort was excellent, with a range of bars and restaurants. In particular the children enjoyed the open-air cinema and the bike hire.

I would definitely recommend Porto Sani Village for a wonderfully relaxing holiday with a special feel.

" Just fabulous. Very deserving of its... "

Just fabulous. Very deserving of its five star status. All of the staff, from poolside attendants to the manager were very attentive, but at the same time, knew when to leave you be. The suites were great ( for a view of the pool you need to upgrade to a superior suite. Superior suites also give you a fantastic breakfast). The pool was great, with loads of sun loungers available and looked spectacular at night. The Byblos restaurant (not included in the half board) had some of the best food we have ever had (not cheap though!). The restaurant for half board was good, with some specific themes on a couple of nights - worked well.

The harbour was being developed when we were there ( didn’t interfere with our holiday though), and there were a few restaurants down there which you could get a voucher for instead of half board in the Village.

Walks out over the cliffs and down to the beach for the more active. We will be going back.
