Pestana Atlantic Gardens Hotel

My family and I decided to spend 4 days away and stayed at this hotel in April. Its a nice hotel, comfortable beds and rooms aceptably decorated. I asked to look at a suite and superior room and was impressed with the size and they also had nice LCD TV sets. The public areas are welcoming, good breakfast (Full English), the bar and restaurant are close to each other. How disappointing it was to arrive at the Pestana Cascais. This is definitely not a 4 star location, it is tired looking, not particularly clean requires new pillows, towels and sheets all had holes. The counter tops by the stove requires a change, our room had broken laminate and the stove was not very clean. We have stayed at other Pestanas and this was definitely a disappointment.

I've been staying here for the last 15 years (when the hotel was called the Atlantic Gardens); the hotel changed ownership 1-2 years ago ... but everything is still terrific. Lots of free parking (not easy to find in Cascais these days, due to a real estate explosion), quick check-in, a large and beatiful ocean-view room, nice bathroom with marble fixtures and shower/bathtub (hard to find in Europe these days). We have just returned from 2 weeks holiday in Cascais at the Pestana Atlantic Gardens (or Pestana Cascais as they’re now calling themselves). I really liked this hotel, the rooms were spacious and we had a wonderful sea view from the balcony of our room. We had breakfast in the hotel every day which I felt was good value at 8.50 euros each. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Cascais but this is no bad thing as it was really quiet and the walk along the ocean to the town from the hotel is nice. I just returned from spending 5 days in the Pestana and while it was ok, I did not find anything particulary spectacular about it. It certainly was not a 4 star hotel, even by Portuguese standards (we stayed in some other hotels in Portugal also). The room did not smell the most pleasant and this was probably from people cooking in the rooms. In my mind, there was not enough room for that anyhow, let alone do cooking there. We spent a week (second week of august 2005) in pestana atlantic gardens. In general all is very good. In particular : swimming pool for the children, international customers are present (german, english, spanish, dutch, french, italian, japaneese ...), mini club for the children with a very pleasant staff, activities for the children or the adults (volley ball, waterpolo ...) like in a free club. We stayed for 5 nights and found hotel to be very comfortable, pool and gardens excellent and staff very helpful & pleasant. We wholeheartedly endorse previous reviews and would very happily stay there again. ps - I think that the ** rating on tripadvisor is too low - should be *** or ****

Excellent value for money !

This Hotel is a good spot for the Golf Lovers. You have several Golf courses to choose from and at the Reception they have acess to great prices at the Golf Courses. We had a nice time at the Great Fairways of Penha Longa and Qta da Beloura wich have very good greens. The Hotel is very much OK. We loved all the staff from receptionists to the housekeeper, who was very polite during our stay. We had a great Time there. Regards to Cascais!

We have just returned from a 6 night stay in the hotel and found it very good. Room was really excellent - on the top floor with an uninterrupted view of the whole Tagus estuary, very roomy because of the kitchenette (with fridge) and large balcony, refurbished modern decor and furniture, and massive queen sized bed.
