We have just returned from a superb week at the Riu Palace. There were six of us in our party, both grandparents, two adults and two children. Our bags were collected on arrival and we were asked if we would like to take a seat in the lounge with a glass of champagne while the reception staff organised our rooms. We were located on the ground floor, next door to one another and both rooms had a nice terrace overlooking the garden. For a family of four, our room was a good size and the beds provided for the children were also good quality and a good size. The twin beds for us adults were not as comfortable as we would have like definitely a little on the hard side but this was the only minor complaint we had. The staff at the hotel were the best we have encoutered "excellent in fact" they could not have done more to ensure our stay was an enjoyable one. The hotel itself is set in a beautiful location with views overlooking the sea and we really enjoyed walking along the promenade and taking in the views. The food was also very good with lots of choice. The children really enjoyed helping themselves to anything they fancied. They also enjoyed the pools one of which was warmer than the other. The age of people staying at the hotel were older but during school holidays I'm sure there will be more young familys staying at the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a warm welcome, good service, quality accommodation situated in a beatiful location.

Just got back from a wonderful holiday in this amazing complex, very clean, friendly with lots of ameneties and a superb location. Just wish we had looked into airport transfers before travelling, was 60 euros from the airport, luckily we met a really nice guy who operates from [-] and he got us back to the airport for 30 euro, really nice guy, highly recommended, thanks Dave! Above all, a great great holiday, will definately go again!!

Olhos d'Agua is a quiet little town....

Olhos d'Agua is a quiet little town. It is very clean and fairly attractive. The entertainment and night life consists of three or four restaurant / bars, so if you are looking for drinking and dancing until the early hours, then it is not the place for you. There are two really nice beaches. One is accessed via the Riu Falesia Hotel (down about 125 steps) and is used predominantly by holiday makers. The other can be reached by walking a short distance down the road through the town and appeared to used mainly by the locals. You can walk down the beach from Olhos d'Agua to Villamoura. It takes about an hour and a half at a fairly leisurely pace and is well worth it. If you don't fancy the walk back you can use the very regular bus service at a cost of one euro thirty.
The hotel is fantastic. This is our fifth stay in a Riu hotel in four years and you can never fault them. The only drawback for some people may be the lack of daytime activities. Basically there aren't any but this didn't bother us as we just wanted to chill in any case. If you have young children then I suppose this could be a problem. The quality and choice of the food is unbelievable. There is something for every pallette. Champagne breakfast every morning! From the minute you walk through the door until the minute you leave nothing is too much trouble for them.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

This hotel was stunning, It is really worth it's 4* rating. The moment we entered and was given champagne whilst checking in, I knew we had picked the right hotel. we had booked a sea view and that really took my breath away.
The food was superb, you could choose something from the Table Service menu or could you visit the buffet, and every night the food was delicious and hot.

The leisure facilities helped make the holiday, with it being winter (although the 1st few days of the week was really hot and was hot enough to wear sunscreen) and we used the indoor pool, steam room, & jacuzzi every day. A word of warning though, some people entered the steam room and sauna naked!
The down side is the location, we had to walk round a new hotel that is being built and then down a hill, which was a nightmare walking back up, as we had a member of the party who struggled waking uphill, this meant we were restricted to the hotel at night.
I would stay at this hotel again, but would prefer it if it was in a different location, not only the problem with the hill, but the resort didn’t seen like it had much to offer us.
