May 2005, Mr C Smith

BEWARE OF STAYING AT THIS HOTEL! I stayed at this hotel with my parents and my wife at the end of May 2005. Within an hour and a half of our arrival my wife’s wedding ring and a small amount of money had been stolen from our room while we were at the swimming pool. There... more

Great value hotel
The address is a bit of a misnomer as the hotel is actually located in Guadalmina between the town of San Pedro and Estepona and is a little off the beaten track. So long as you have a car and are not desperate for the beach do not let this put you off as for the price (certainly the deal we had) the hotel offers excellent value for money in an area where accommodation is very expensive. Our room was a good size with a nice balcony overlooking the pool and with table and chairs. The bathroom was also very nice with bath and separate shower and all was scrupulously clean. The price includes an excellent buffet breakfast with fresh fruit, a choice of cooked food, cheeses and cold meats plus some Andalucian specialities and you can eat outdoors on the terrace. There is a large pool area with plenty of loungers plus bars and seating area indoors. We were also impressed by the service which was very friendly and efficient. Only downside - parking is 10 euros a day. All in all we were very impressed with our stay and hope to return.
Top hotel
Well i can say that it was top class there! They were putting up PGA tour pro's that week, so that's how good the hotel is, upgrade to premium room was good, but hardly in there to appreciate it, breakfast was average for a 4*, plenty of choice to be fair, pool area exceptionally clean as was the entire hotel, great bar, good on site shop, great location to play guadalmina golf course, helpful staff, quite expensive drinks as i remember, but that's CDS all over! Defo stay again, and everyone knows unless you're staying bang in the middle - have a hire car!
Don't do without a car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We arrived at this Hotel after reading the Hotel's addvert. It says 1,5 miles from the beach and shopping. It might be,but you cannot get there because of a major road to cross. You have to get a taxi wherever you go,10Euros one way,and up to 30Euro's for shop's.this does add up over a week(350Euro's).The rooms are NOT cleaned properly, dust everywhere. We had our passports stollen from our room and had very little help from reception, they gave us the police phone number and told us to contact them(my spainish is brilliant). All in all, find a hotel in the centre of the action,or your stay will be dull and expensive. The breakfast is good, but other food is very expensive average of 60 euro for two minimum(salads). We really did'nt enjoy our stay and would never return.
great place
Just came back from my second stay at this hotel and I must say it did not disappoint. The staff are so friendly and helpful - I felt they are a bit run off their feet and could do with some reinforcement. We had a big spacious room with a balcony and a wonderful sunset over the golf course. The breakfast was just super - lots of variety for everyone. We could even have breakfast sitting out on the balcony in the sun, at the end of December! The golf course looked to be in great condition, even though we did not play. The only downside is you need a car to get there.
Really nice Hotel
When I read some of the earlier reviews on this site, I considered cancelling my booking with this hotel. The price was very reasonable and I thought it must be too good to be true - but I was wrong! The hotel was really nice. My husband and I only stayed for 2 nights and neither of us play golf, but this didn't spoil what is essentially a very nice hotel. There are no bars within short walking distance, but 2 in the hotel.
Very Nice Hotel & Staff
Hotel is very nice located between Marbella and Estepona. Has two restaurants, kids pool, swimmingpool and jacuzzi and small fitness room. Located circa 2km from the nearest beach, transfer from the hotel is available and gratis. Best thing to do is to rent a car and go to Puerto Banus (for restuarants, shopping) or Estepona (for very nice beach). Staff was very nice and rooms are large with balcony and large bathroom as well. Can't complain.
Read Review of Sep,18th
First day back! Had a lovely time, would return. Read review of Sep,18... Absolutely spot on!
Lovely Hotel, great food
My husband, 15 year old daughter and i stayed at this hotel in the week leading upto the Easter weekend. After reading the review regarding the car park I was slightly aprehensive before leaving home. We normally travel to the carribean and this was a welcome break until our next holiday in the summer. However we had no worries at all as our stay was lovely, the rooms, restaurant food, and lounge areas could not have been better. We had breakfast on the sun terrace overlooking the spacious pool area every morning and it couldn't have been more relaxing. We hired a car for the week and this enabled us to see all the local areas including the pretty nearby village of San Pedro. We will definately return to this hotel.
5 star camper beds
i recently stayed at this hotel with two of my friends,we were golfing in the area and had booked a triple room via the internet for the duration of our stay (4 nights). On arrival we found that the did not do triple rooms and in fact they could only offer a large double, not much use to the third person!!!we could however pay for a extra room if we wished. After much debate and mediation they agreed to put a third bed into the room as my credit card had been debited for a triple and they after all had sold me a triple......Problem solved, I think not......three hours later still no sign of the bed.....we had arrived on a late flight and had drove from Malaga 80k so we were to say the very least a bit tired. when the bed finally arrived it was a fold down cot with a 1" foam mattress. Obviously we complained and argued that the Hotel was practically empty and that as we had been charged for a triple at full wack that we should be entitled to a free room...not a hope I have played golf around the world with my friends and I must admit stayed in some dodgy places but knowingly so,However this hotel is flaunted as a 4/5 star and it is in every way EXCEPT in the way it deals with customers that have genuine complaints. You also have to pay to park your car at this hotel NUTS!!!! will not be staying there again.........
Functional and comfortable
I have used this hotel at least six or seven times while on business this year and I am happy to continue to do so. It has always been very clean, comfortable, competitively priced (which keeps my accountant smiling) and the staff are always very pleasant. There appear to be security issues which are 100% the hotel's own fault - up until the early summer 2005, parking in the garage was included in the room rate. The only access to the garage was by using a room keycard which opened not just a parking barrier but a fortified automatic door as well. Thus, without a valid keycard it was impossible to access the garage. Since the summer, in the hotel's lame attempt to generate revenue from its garage parking spaces, this fortified door has been removed and the remaining barriers can stop only cars, but not people, from entering the garage from where they can get access lifts to all the floors. No wonder there are reports of theft - you could spend a week coming and going from this hotel without ever seeing the reception. As a result, all the room safes are now out of order as they no longer offer protection against theft from unwanted guests. This problem aside, it is a nice, friendly establishment but certainly no more than a 4 star hotel, particularly now that the main bar, which used to close around 1 am every night, now closes at 10pm and is only open for a few nights per week! It seems this hotel is having trouble attracting business. One final point - for those who need to iron their clothes, the hotel does not supply irons - you have to pay for each item ironed by housekeeping and this can sometimes take a while. A nice enough service but I would rather have the choice of doing the job myself. Hopefully this place will soon go back to offering the excellent service which was so prevalent in the first half of 2005.
