My family and I have just returned from Halkidiki and I have just got one thing to say - get me on a plane back there now! The hotel itself was fantastic, we upgraded to a family apartment (costing a mere 300 euros) this turned out to be a gorgeous room, all new facilities,... more

Me and my family have just returned from a week at the Kassandra Palace Inn which is part of the Kassandra Palace Hotel. After booking the holiday on line I was worried, particularly when I read some of the reviews for this hotel. We were pleasantly suprised as although... more

When we arrived at the Kassandra palace it was late and we hadn't eaten. The hotel buffet was closed so we had to try and find some place to eat but all there was, within walking distance of the place, was a cocktail bar so we had to eat in the bar inside of the hotel... more

First the good things: This box has a four star rating and the personnel is trying to be four star. They have a problem: the guests and their house. KP (how they call themselves) is a really nice resort. They have a brilliant garden and beach. There are some apartment... more

My wife and I went to the Kassandra Palace in July 2006 after choosing the holiday package from a brochure. Most brochures do not give a true picture of resorts etc but on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The gardens were fantastic and the beach was clean as was the... more

We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Kassandra Palace. We stayed on a half board basis and the food was amazing, with plenty of choice. The service was first class - totally faultless. There are a number of activities which are well organised and the... more

Nice and relaxing!
We spent some days in Kassandra Palace and had wonderful time. Hotel have very beautiful garden and to don't forget to mention very very nice food. The swiming pool is medium with salty water and clean. If you have childrens this hotel is the best choice as provides many entertaiment for childrens. As it works in HB basis ( brekfast and dinner) you have to pay for drink , coffes, during day food etc which are not so cheap, lets say one Greek Coffee costs 2.2 Euro, Frape 4 Euro, Refreshments 2-3 Euro, Juices 3.5 Euro etc. I would again visit this hotel!
Holiday To Remember..
Just spent two weeks with my family, between us we had children ages ranging from 2-16 years. The hotel was relaxed and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the holiday. The location of the hotel was out of town but accessable by taxi or bus to different towns which made us feel we had the best of both worlds a couple of our favourite towns were Hanioti and Kalithea which were busy and lively at night. The hotel did offer entertainment in the evening and during the day for all ages.. adults and children. The food offered a variety to suit everyone and had a childrens menu. The surroundings of the hotel were beautiful, full of flowers and greenery. The drinks at the hotel were a little expensive but the beach bar was 30% cheaper and made a very pleasant evening. The Entertainment Team (Michelle, Markus, Andy, Karen, Carl and Theresa) worked very hard to make our holiday fantastic! It was KATASTROPHE to leave them! It's a MUST if you want a relaxing hotel away from the hustle and bustle and direct access to beach and entertainment to suit everyone! This for us is going to be a very hard holiday to beat!
Fantastic two weeks in May with kids.
We have just spent two wonderful weeks in this hotel (arriving back 3.6.04). The facilities, service and entertainment deserve the four star rating. The food was plentiful and good quality, although a bit monotonous (understandable when catering for over 200 people however). We did not venture much from the hotel but there are two beach bars (about 100 and 200 yards from the hotel) whose prices are approx 30% cheaper that the hotel's. I cannot go without mentioning the childrens entertainment, which was 5 star. Michelle, Markus, Karen and Theresa (and Sacha) all deserve great praise for their excellent work and making us laugh for 14 days and nights. All I can say is: SABOTAGE!!! CATASTROPHE!! (you'll know what I mean when you go!)
Beautiful Garden and Beach Setting
I booked this hotel last minute at a ridiculously low price, which made me very nervous. However it was such a fantastic surprise when we arrived and saw the beautiful gardens and beach. The Hotel has a bit of a 70's feel, and the buffet had bizzar food combinations for dinner although edible. But overall it was a fantastic holiday - i would recommend that you venture into near by towns to sample better food. A perfect quiet relaxing beach holiday!
Wonderful
Went to this hotel in August 1999. We absolutely loved it and the beach and sea are beautiful. Our children were 8 and 10 and they still ask if they can go back there as it was their favourite holiday. Gardens are stunning and everywhere was very clean. Will definitely go back one day. Only down side was that it was at least 15 minutes to town of Hanioti which was a lovely night out and very Greek.
Rain and Wasps in September
Holiday taken between 11th and 18th September '03. Unfortunately there was rain and much cloud on 5 of the 7 days. Arrival day was fine weather as was the last but the UK was hotter and certainly drier during this time I understand. Aircon not put on in Sept. but necessary - I found - on some nights and I felt should be an option. The staff were friendly and helpful. At dinner there is a rule that all gentlemen wear long trousers (no shorts) which was a nice touch. Food was adequate in volume and tasted OK though could not be described as exciting. Many residents were from Russia and East European countries (because it's geographically much closer than England, France, Holland or Scandinavia I guess). Mainly over 50s and young couples with babies. Beach fashions not from St Tropez, West Indies or Bondi either - more like depressed 1960s regions, pre-tourism - so no need to splash out on a new holiday wardrobe! Independent beach hire of sun loungers expensive at 7 Euros a day, though by the hotel pool these are not charged. Unfortunately the beach is also plagued by wasps in the late summer, so much so that up to a half a dozen can be constantly buzzing you at any one time. When they fly away more come. The good news is that although some will land on you they don't seem to want to sting you. The hotel is quite isolated so you'll need to catch a bus to get into the local villages and one way is a very steep hill. Hiring a car is a better bet though more obviously a lot more expensive. I would have done that if I knew the weather was going to be overcast for so many days. The hotel could do with a tennis coach (there are young staff members to look after children) as the 2 courts were always empty. One annoying thing that the hotel management could do nothing about was the constant barking from dogs (by day and especially at night) owned privately nearby. They are perfectly healthy and have a small field to run about in but never seem to sleep for more than half an hour and when one starts all the others join in. I would say the hotel standard would be a middle quality 3 star, as many 4 stars I stayed in offer a much higher level of comfort and facilities. No real complaints but the poor weather coloured my judgement and as a single traveller it was a dull week overall. I'm glad I took a couple of books!
Beautiful Setting
This was our 3rd trip to Halkidiki in 6 years, it is very commercialised there now so if you want "the old Greece" try Sithomia the next penninsula. We usually stay in Polichrono but this year went for the Kassandra Palace about 2km out of Kripoligi. The brochure stated that it was near this village but it isnt. To get to Kripologi you have to walk up a steep and very busy unlit mountain road or go cross country so peiple with young children please take a taxi which the hotel will call for you and costs 5 euro's. The hotel is lovely but very very expensive. We had a two bed apartment which overlooked the pool and the sea and was surrounded by beautiful gardens, we had a maid service everyday and even though it was a self catering apartment towels and beachtowels, soap and toilet rolls were all provided. The loungers by the pool were free but the ones on the private beach were 7.50 euros per unbrella per day so with a family of 4 this was 15 euros a day! The beach is nice but there are a lot of rocks and sharp stones once in the sea so make sure you take flip flops to wear when you swim. Beach bar is great for lunchtime snacks and for drinks on the beach in the evening. The Taverna is in a lovely setting but the food is nothing special and the cost for 4 (just a main coirse and a bottle of wine) was 71 euros, if you had the same meal in Kripilogi it would cost 30 euros. If you get an oppertunity to do the Sunset Galleon (we went with Thomson) do it it is lovely and romantic with a lovely meal and a live band playing romatic classics on a beautiful old pirate looking boat. Local villages worth seeing are Polichrono 5 euros by taxi, lovely resturants on the beach and usual tourist shops. Hanoiti 7 euros by taxi lively little town with a huge variety of resturants from Greek to Pizza's with loads of trendy clothes shops and great gift shops with a lovely fountain area. Kalethea 7 euros by taxi this is the "happening" place all the young greeks go here to be seen not much fun for families with young children but again loads of shops and resturants. When getting taxis the reception will call one and tell you the taxi number, go to the main gate to collect it. Where the taxi driver drops you off is where the taxi ranks is in that village just go there and wait for one to come, the longest we had to wait is 30 mins but watch the locals as they will jump the queue and tell you they have ordered one. Additionally you can get a bus time table from reception, the buses are cheap and efficient and the drivers call out the villages as he stops. Also be warned the hotel will charge you for use of the safe 40 euros for 2 weeks and will charge you 1 euro per travellers cheque you cash (we had euro cheques) and even charged us a charge when we used them to pay our bill.
Very good hotel
A very comfortable hotel in an excellent situation very close to the beach. The rooms have everything you need e.g. air con, fridge, shower, telly, balcony etc and are cleaned daily. The food -we did half board- is excellent, with a wide variety to suit every taste. The beach and pool are fine. The only possible draw back for some people might be the location of the hotel about 2 km outside Kriopigi if you're wanting to be in a lively location. Having said that the taxi's buses etc are inexpensive and easy to catch, and the hotel's own shop has most things you might need.
Great Holiday in Halkidiki
Just returned from an excellent holiday at the Kassandra Palace Hotel, Kriopigi, Kassndra Peninsula. The hotel is very family oriented and the kids and adults in our party had a great time. Guests were there from all over Europe, most of them with children, which was a good ice breaker to get conversations going. On site bars are on the expensive side, but given the level of service (and friendliness of the staff, hi Costas!), this was acceptable. There are 2 independent beach bars, 100 metres and 250 metres up the beach to the right of the hotel beach bar, and these are considerably cheaper. The beach is also sandier in this direction. One gripe is that there is a charge for the sun beds and umbrellas on the beach (6 euros per day for 2 beds and a brolly). If you have younger kids, up to 10, then the Mickey Club is excellent, providing supervised activities 6 days a week in the morning and afternoon, allowing you some time on your own at the pool or beach. At night there is a mini disco for the kids and bingo / quizzes for all to follow. This was a bit 'Blackpool' for my taste, but the kids loved it and it provided an opportunity to mingle with other guests. We used the local bus service a lot to travel up and down the peninsula, and at 90 cents per person, this was excellent value. If you are interested in walking there is a good trek from Kriopigi village to Kassandrino, which is roughly 5km each way, and should take one hour each way. There is a nice taverna in Kassandrino called Zakos, which served some good cheese dishes that we did not find anywhere else. We are already checking out the brochures to go back next year.
Excellent Holiday at Kassandra Palace
Stayed Half Board at Kassandra Palace in June 2003. The grounds that the hotel is set in are beautiful and kept immaculately. Accomodation was excellent. Our room had Fridge, TV, Radio Alarm Clock, and Air Conditioning. It was cleaned daily, with Towels and Sheets replaced regularly (Beach Towels also supplied). Staff are very friendly and absolutely adore children.Food was excellent, huge variety at dinner and Breakfast (Fresh Pancakes with Chocolate sauce, yum, yum), all kept hot and replaced regularly.Main Pool is salt water and could get a little dirty throughout the day, but the Childrens Pool was fresh water and was seperate from the main pool which the kids loved. Daytime activities were great, Waterball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Water Aerobics, etc. There is also a park for the Children with Swings, Slide, Playhouses, etc.Hotel is about 30 minute walk away (Along a dangerous main road with no Pavement) from the nearest set of shops and bars so unless you get a taxi or enjoy long dangerous walks you are restricted to the hotel, where the drinks are expensive. 4 for a pint of lager and 6 for spirits. All in all an excellent holiday that I would recommend.
