Me and my family have just returned from a week at the Kassandra Palace Inn which is part of the Kassandra Palace Hotel. After booking the holiday on line I was worried, particularly when I read some of the reviews for this hotel.
We were pleasantly suprised as although the room was basic it was very clean, and was adequately equipped with a fridge and air conditioning. The buffet style evening meal was typical of any Greek hotel, and provided plently of choice.
The pool although dated was clean and there were a sufficent number of sun beds available each day. A wonderful feature of the holiday was the Greek night held in the taverna on site, the wine was free and holiday makers were encouraged to join in and learn the traditional Greek dance.
The only negative point about the stay was that the hotel was remote from the nearest town, however a taxi into Kalithea cost 7.50 euros. if you are looking for basic but clean accommodation then you will not be disappointed.

When we arrived at the Kassandra palace it was late and we hadn't eaten. The hotel buffet was closed so we had to try and find some place to eat but all there was, within walking distance of the place, was a cocktail bar so we had to eat in the bar inside of the hotel which wasn't the best meal I had.
But on the upside the rooms were lovely and clean and the pool was so quiet you had it to yourselves. When the Buffet was open the food was really good and breakfast was the best with chocolate pancakes on offer. But if you wanted to eat out you had to cross a busy main road, which has seen many accidents, to get the bus into Polychrono or Hanioti or on the same side of the hotel wait for a bus to Kalithea.
The people at the hotel were so friendly they couldn't do enough for you - they loved the kids to pieces. Another Bonus on the hotel was it was right on the beautiful golden beach where they have regular beach parties (for kids).

First the good things: This box has a four star rating and the personnel is trying to be four star. They have a problem: the guests and their house.
KP (how they call themselves) is a really nice resort. They have a brilliant garden and beach. There are some apartment houses in the garden which seem to be nice. I had been in the main house. Probably it has been built like all the other hotels in that area around the 70ties. Which means paper walls. Or to be more precise: You can hear your neighbours going to the toilet.
The cons are hard. Four stars does definitely not mean the kitchen. Any warm food (not the cold cause you can't smash it up) is tasteless and loveless. If you're on half board you can have the breakfast since it is not that complicated to do. The dinner is lousy. It has absolutely no taste.
The other problem is the guests. I had been there in half season and the guests divide into two groups: Retired Germans who tend to sing German folklore in the lobby bar and Russians.
The environment is the typical Greek building ruins. I believe there are more unfinished houses than done houses. You need to know the built houses are the datschas of the Thessaloniki citizens which only do come at the weekends. Everything, really everything else, is tourist stuff. If you have a respectful behaviour you can have nice days here - if you drink beer at 11 at the pool nobody needs you there; Except you have money to spend.
This report is from the half season; So the full season might be more ugly.
What you read about the hotel being somewhere in the middle of nowhere is senseless. A cab to Kriopigi is less than a long drink at the lobby bar (6€). Kassandria (ish 15km) is about 10€.

My wife and I went to the Kassandra Palace in July 2006 after choosing the holiday package from a brochure. Most brochures do not give a true picture of resorts etc but on arrival we were pleasantly surprised.
The gardens were fantastic and the beach was clean as was the sea. The pool area was clean and un-crowded and had a very good bar nearby. The staff were efficient and very friendly.
The main hotel room was clean and although the bathroom was in need of some refurbishment, we felt very comfortable. The rooms in general were kept clean and were in good condition. The hotel had a good bar area with a large selection of beverages.
The restaurant was clean, well staffed and had a large selection of foods available in a buffet style arrangement. Overall all the staff were friendly and helpful so much so that my Greek language skills were improved as most staff took the time to help with a silly old English fool trying to integrate with the locals.
A very pleasant two weeks in July was followed by another fantastic week in September. We also hired a car and explored a large area of Halkidiki, Macedonia and Thrace Fantastic.

This is an excellent hotel with an extensive range of facilities including hairdressers, disco, quiet lounge areas, internet access, refridgerators, free A/C, beach bar, pool bar, tavern.
The food in the hotel dining room was good-as you would expect for a large hotel catering for a multinational clientelle. The food in the on-site tavern was superb, providing a full range of traditional Greek cuisine in a very relaxed environment.
There is a beautiful, immaculately clean, private beach with sun beds. A fee is charged for sun beds but if you plan to visit the beach daily you can save money by reserving the bed for the duration of your holiday.
There is a short walk, along quite a busy road, to the local shops and bars of Kriopigi. Taxis are reasonably priced though and there are several other resorts in Halkidiki which are worth a visit.
I really enjoyed my stay and plan to return next year.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Kassandra Palace.
We stayed on a half board basis and the food was amazing, with plenty of choice. The service was first class - totally faultless. There are a number of activities which are well organised and the evening entertainment is very good - most enjoyable.
The gardens are amazing and very colourful. The hotel is immaculate. Only small drawbacks are the location (about a half hour walk to Kriopigi) and there are noisy dogs next-door.
However, this has not affected the enjoyment of our holiday is any way at all. We would most certainly stay there again.

My family and I have just returned from Halkidiki and I have just got one thing to say - get me on a plane back there now!
The hotel itself was fantastic, we upgraded to a family apartment (costing a mere 300 euros) this turned out to be a gorgeous room, all new facilities, air con, wet room in bathroom etc. we even had two balconies so as not to disturb the kids when they were asleep. The door to the apartment was fully alarmed which went off whenever the kids tried to escape but also felt safe in light of the Maddy McCann story.
The food was just excellent, the service fantastic, the staff great. My daughter has food allergies and we were assigned particular waitresses in the restaurant who were able to check the food to let us know exactly what she could & couldn't eat. They seemed more than happy to help.
The only fault I could find was the state of the swimming pool. Clean though it was, tiles were coming loose from around the sides, and tiles were missing from the bottom of the pool which posed something of a hazard. Particularly when older children were swimming down and picking them up then throwing them, swimming down & picking up again as some sort of a game. The steps were also on a bit of a slant and a bit dangerous when trying to get out of the pool, obviously with wet feet.
The gardens were amazing, with full-time gardeners wandering around all day watering & pruning, with many of the flowers used as table displays at meal times.
All in all I would not hesitate to go back there again at some point in the future, we all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and would highly recommend it to anyone.
