The hotel where we stayed was in the ski resort of Macunaga at the foot of Mount Rosa. Our hotel was run by a typical Walder family, the hotel was a typical alpine establishment with 2 floors. The meals were of great variety and also catered for English taste. The family... more

Would never stay here again!
Our tour company booked 2 twin rooms for us and our voucher was for those rooms but when we arrived, they gave us one twin room and a double and insisted that was what our reservation was for. Then we started to the rooms and found that the lift was out of order which was a major problem since we had an elderly mother traveling with us. They didn't even offer to assist us with the luggage. I called our tour company and they talked to the manager who said the double bed was actually 2 twins bolted together and they could separate them...I... more
Great value for money
Stayed for a long weekend at Carnevale time in Venice, which is a great time to visit. Hotel is about five minutes walk from the main Lido vaporetto stop and despite being on the main road, is very quiet. The staff were very welcoming throughout the stay. We have stayed on the Lido before as you get much more for your money and the rooms are always bigger than in Venice itself. The trip across the lagoon late at night or early in the morning is magical and adds to the attraction of the Lido. It wasn't a luxury hotel obviously and the... more
fabulous hotel at good prices
We went last year during mid Nov which is not really peak season and had a fabulous deal directly from the hotel at 40euros a night. The double room is very nice with good views and it is not too noisy even if it is off the main street. The breakfast is more than the usual typical italian breakfast. Everything seems newly renovated from the starcase and hallways to the clean and good bathroom. It is more of a 3 star hotel than the 2 star it is rated at! It is very easy to reach hotel cristallo as it is on the left side of the main... more
Great value
We stayed for two nights at Hotel Cristallo and we would definitely recommend it. Being budget travellers, we had spent hours searching for a reasonable hotel on the main island, without much success. After seeing the reviews on this site we decided to go for this hotel, even though it is on Lido. However don't let this put you off - the hotels on Lido are much better value for money, and it is so easy to get from Lido to the main island it's definitely worth it! While we were there vaporettos were running about every 10 minutes to... more
Great Location/Easy Parking
My mother and I took my two children, ages 6 and 9, to Italy last year and stayed at the Hotel Cristallo for 3 nights. We loved being on the Lido, with the beach and quiet, tree-lined streets. We decided to stay on the Lido so we could keep the car (you take the car ferry over), because we weren't sure about trooping through the narrow streets of Venice with two (possibly tired) small children and all the luggage. We were able to park less than a block from the hotel. It was the perfect solution for us, and we would definitely return.... more
Nice quiet and relaxing location.
The staff was helpful and location close to the vaperetto stop on Lido. Our room was very clean and big. We would stay here again to avoid the hustle and bustle of Venice.
Much better then downtown
We (a family of four, with 2 teenage kids) stayed there for a couple of nights in April 2006. At first concerned about the distance to the Lido, we needn't have worried: it's 15 minutes away by vaporetto - and has the bonus of giving you a chance to get a great seat if you want to stay on board and continue up the Grand Canal. The hotel is a five minute walk away from the vaporetto stop. As others have reported, the staff is always helpful; their knowledge of English varies from passable to outstanding. Breakfast is a good buffet... more
Nice (but beware of the noise)
I have stayed in the hotels for 2 nights in Sep. The room is spacious and everythings are spotlessly clean. The day-time receiptionist was extremely helpful. He gave us map, directions, recommendation for food etc and spoke very good English. The location is great. Less than 5 min walk from the ferry pier. And the best thing is, you won't be getting lost in Lido, particularly when you are carrying big luggages. Things to remind: Receptionist at night don't speak very good English. There are bars next to the hotel. The room... more
Great value
We stayed at the Cristallo for three days in May. At a cost of only £55 per night per room, this hotel was fantastic value for money. Excellent for its two star rating, the rooms were very spacious - ours had a balcony - with modern bathroom. The furniture and carpet were a little tired but the room/sheets/towels etc were all spotlessly clean. The buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful and the staff were very friendly and heplful and spoke good english. Great location for those who want to stay away from the busy centre of... more
Good value/good hotel on the Lido
The Hotel Cristallo is on the Lido's main street and provides a great place, at good value to stay in Venice. Our room was, large, very clean and quite. Breakfast is a good buffet and the hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel owner has some great recommendations for places to eat. We followed two of them and had great meals and reasonable prices, with the locals. Highly recommend this hotel, for those who want to see Venice, but stay away from the crowds of San Marco. It is an easy walk from the boats and easy to get to... more
