The hotel where we stayed was in the ski resort of Macunaga at the foot of Mount Rosa.

Our hotel was run by a typical Walder family, the hotel was a typical alpine establishment with 2 floors. The meals were of great variety and also catered for English taste. The family all worked together to make our holiday memorable through their hard work and hospitality with nothing being too much trouble.

The history of the people who resided in the resort was also of great interest as they spoke in a Germanic tongue and heralded from an area, which is now known as Switzerland. I spoke in my best high German and was understood.

The village itself was perched in the upper mountains and it is wonderful pass, which brings you to the resort. We visited nearby Domodossolo on numerous occasions when not skiing, for their open air markets.

One could buy a ski pass for £15 for 1 week and it was unlimited in its use. The courier arranged for all of us to have free glogg and light bites at a nearby Irish theme bar and the first beverage was free. <br>

The Hotel Cristallo and the family do add to the holiday, hey you get seconds, and quite often there are more than seconds, they make it because they make it such a memorable stay hence our 2nd time there and let it be said there will be a 3rd.
At the moment us girlies have got family on the agenda now so maybe a couple of years off the slopes but it is gospel that the Webbs and Butts' will be back with the little ones and hopefully if our lovely Lambetto is still teaching then. They will only become the best that they can possibly be, and boy that will be some skiing because simply he is the best.
We love Macugnaga, we found a little bit of magic and we kept it for ourselves (4 of us) but for the record the next time we come back it will be a definite 4+. We love them all, x for Mrs Mignon. x
