Just returned from Pallini Beach in Kalithea. 1hour 45 mins transfer from Thessaloniki.
Quite a nice clean hotel but would rate 3* rather than given 4*. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Rooms were spacious and clean nice to have a double and a single bed rather than twin and sofa bed. Air conditioning in rooms but not very efficient, 4 Euros for a safe in the room.
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere with just a few shops and bars in walking distance. Otherwise need to take a bus outside hotel or taxi. Buses are reasonably priced but taxis will rip you off. A trip to Kalithea cost 6E there and 3E back!
On a trip to Thessaloniki 27Euros one way for 3 by bus you are dropped at bus station outside centre took a taxi in which took 8 minutes and he tried to charge 20Euros had to settle at 15! On return flagged down a taxi to the bus station charged 5E50C! Quite a long journey on the bus took nearly 2 hours.
Spent an evening in Hanioti which was very pleasant bars and restaurants around a square, nice atmosphere and friendly staff in the bars. Evenings at the hotel was pretty boring entertainment was none existent at Pallini so had to cross to sister hotel Athos Palace - real amateur acts which were dreadful. Dance act appeared twice just doing same dances over and over - a bit boring.
Beware the entertainment is outside the Athos Palace on the beach and there are hundreds of mosquitoes came home covered in bites despite using a spray.
Food in the hotel was varied plenty to choose from Beef, chicken, lamb, fish, spag bol, salads and the usual cake with various toppings for desert but as usual with buffets most often than not it was cold.
Breakfasts were also plentiful with cereals, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages, cheeses and meats but again cold. Coffee was lovely and freshly poured by the staff.
Didn't use the pool at the Pallini as it didn't look too inviting went across daily to the Athos lovely clean pool and plenty of sunbeds and shades. Drinks quite pricey at hotel 2E50C for a coke and E3.50 for coffee, E2.50 for large water at dinner, wine by the glass was palatable and reasonable at E2.50.
Lovely beaches very clean, we did well for the weather which was between 27 and 30 degrees. Halkidiki is fine if you want to just completely chill by the pool but getting out and about is tiring and expensive.
Would we return - no - it’s not for us, too quiet prefer to be able to do more sightseeing and for it to be worthwhile when you do it.

We visited this hotel after a Thomson Cruise and made our own way (via hire car) from Thessalonika Airport (a good choice).
Will I visit Hotel Pallini Beach again? Probably not ….
This is not a hotel for a quiet holiday – probably more like a Holiday Camp with all day activities and all night music. There is not much to visit or see in the area without a long drive.
The bedroom is clean, nice and quite large but has no information pack or tea/coffee making facilities.
For breakfast there is no toast and the water for tea is not hot. Milk has to be requested. At dinner there is only one main serving point which can cause queues – there is no butter available or crackers for the cheese. The variety of desserts is small and mainly sweet chewy cakes. Some foods contain high amounts of salt.
The corridors and dining room are very noisy with poor sound insulation. Bedroom doors bang and the noise resounds all along the corridor.
The music by the pool and in the bar is far too loud when in use. On Friday and Saturday nights there are all night parties at nearby discotheques that end at 8.00 am the next morning – very very loud.
The main bar had very few customers before 9.30 pm at night. Possibly because the loud piano music prevented conversation.
Some entertainment resources are shared with the sister hotel Athos Palace which is next door.
The bedroom TV has little choice of channels for English Speaking viewers – The Discovery Channel or Euro News which introduces one new item to its agenda each hour then ensures that that is played over at least twelve times in the next two days. It claims to have the latest in news as it happens. Must have been a quiet week then! There are no English broadcast channels.
There is a charge for beach towels and to use sun beds / umbrellas on the beach.
About a third of the guests are children.
It is about a ninety minute transfer from the airport by coach.
The hotel has some good points…
All rooms have a good sea view – some overlooking the pool. These are probably the quietest at night. All balconies are self contained and very private.
Everywhere is very clean.
There is a large supermarket/shop on the premises.
There is an internet café (€6.00 per hour)
There is an excellent café for fast food, snacks and drinks. Although the cappuccino coffee is very strong.
