We have just come back from the Narcissios where we had a great time. This was our 4th time to Cyprus but first time to Protaras. The hotel is situated off the main Paralimmi Rd, but in our view perfect. Only 5-6 mins drive from the main strip (but far enough away from the hussle and bustle). There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and the service is pretty regular and costs just 1euro 50 cents per person. or a taxi costs between 6-8euros depending on what time of day / night it is.
The hotel itself was very clean as are the rooms. Very basic but you get what you pay for. The rooms all have air con and costs 4euros per day with a 15euro deposit which is refunded and recommended!).
The pool is lovely and warm and the bar area cosy.
We found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful..
We never ate in the hotel due to the vast array of great places to eat in town but the buffets did look good.
The hotel guests were a good mixture of nationalities, British, Cypriot, Italian and German, Norwegian.
The hotel is a bus ride or good ten min walk to the beach but well worth it, the waters are crystal clear and warmer than we have ever been in.
The resort itself is great for families and for those who are looking for the clubbing nightlife, Ayia Napa is about 15min drive away.
We would definatly recommend this hotel and resort and will certainly go back again.

Looked nice when we arrived, but already at check-in, we noticed that this was a strange place.
Guy in check-in gave us keys and pointed at the pool-area, giving us several minutes of searching for our room.
Found the room,a tiny little hole on the ground floor, we crashed at the pool for a bath and some drinks. Thats when things got really interesting.
Tried to ask the staff in the poolbar about whats going on here and what to do.
...-no answer at all!
We were quite amazed over the lack of interest to help but it didnt end there.
Soon it was "Happy Hour" 4,35€ for two coctails between 4pm-5pm.
It turned out the staff only changed red cyrup up or down in the glass for the various cocktails in the bar map... We had lots of fun with this, trying to find out whether the staff knew how to make ANY known cocktails at all... Well, they didnt.
Later on, one of the staff (actually looking much like that sad girl in tv-series "24", same always sad-lookin face) started to point out guest for other members of the staff and laughing over guest behavior...
Yes, we DID notice, try to do this more discrete next time, ok?
Turning in for the night, we found the airconditon to either be an ice-machine or a device to keep people awake... noisy thing.
And in the bathroom there was installed a fan with a life of its own... its started at the strangest hours of the day and made a hell of a noise.
Lots of ants, just go get the spray in reception at once and KEEP it. You will need it all your stay!
We had a lot of fun at this place, but we had to make the fun for our selves.

the Narcissos hotel looked great from the outside so this deserves a mark at least as for every other aspect it falls off the scale
we arrived (2 of us) and made our way to reception there was a man on duty by the name of john very unhelpful , he knew nothing about anything, he handed us our room key and pointed us past the pool area after instructing we leave our passports so he could check us in later because he was busy
upon locating our apartment which was ground floor we found it smelt,the bed linen and blankets were the same they also smelt
the room was tiny with minimal facility area we had a hob, a fridge and a few cups a pan and a dirty coffee maker.we searched for the kettle and towels to no avail we later aquired towels from reception after asking for them and was told we were to use a pan on the hob to act as a kettle and that they cater for russians ( they apparently get alot) who prefer coffee hence the coffee maker
the air con had a mind of its own and the fan in the small bathroom came on when the bathroom was not in use it was very loud especially during the night when trying to sleep
we found out where breakfast was served we had to ask all questions as we were given no information on anything
the pool area had no supervision
room servicing was poor the dirty laundry etc was just thrown outside lying around the walkways of the apartments very untidy and unprofessional
we asked about the bus services as there is a bus stop outside the hotel to which we were handed a leaflet without a word of advice so we found it easier to get a taxi as the buses do not run to any timetable
you are a good 30 minute walk from the main strip
a one way journey in a taxi into the town centre is 7 euro during the day
the hotel is situated on a main road to which taxis seem to play chicken every night speeding and over taking one another very dangerous if you are trying to cross the road or have children with you
we will not be returning to this poor excuse for a hotel

Well i must say that i am extremely pleased with the Narcissos Hotel. The reason i am pleased is the fine service me and my family received at the dining area of the hotel.
The actual rooms could have been better as there weren't any electrical appliances.
The guests staying were from the Scandinavian part of Earth and this made it rather hard for me and my family to communicate to other people.
However, i thought that the pool area was spectacular and i wish to visit the Narcissos hotel again just to stay by the pool once again.
I felt that my family should have been able to have stayed in a hotel room until a coach arrived as my family had to stand out by the pool or stay in the luggage room. This was no way to treat a family who had to look after a baby boy all day.
But apart from that ,this hotel , the Narcissos , was a very good hotel and i hope to visit again.

After a late evening flight we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a receptionist who gave us no help in where to find our apartment, but we didn't really think much of this just that he wasn't very helpful.
On trying to find the apartment we passed a group of people who where having a drink at the bar, who kindly pointed us in the right direction. They made polite conversation and asked where we were from, our reply was Wales. On hearing this they asked 'why did you come here?' we replied with, 'why not?' they then answered with 'because it is a Norwegian Hotel!' Our initial reaction was 'oh great, where are we!!' The next day it became perfectly clear, we were in a Norwegian orientated hotel!
On spending 2wks at this hotel all I can say is why is this hotel in a British travel brochure, because it clearly only caters for Norwegians! All Norwegians go there as they feel safe in this environment! This is not much help for the British tourist!! The only people who speak English are the staff which I have to say are lovely, and as for the hotel itself I cant fault anything about it.
I would only recommend this hotel to people who like their own company, and don't like going away to meet different people. We spent as little time as we could here as we felt completely isolated. We love Protaras itself and have visited before, but I can say for sure we will not be returning to this hotel!!!

We arrived early morning after a night flight and were pleasantly surprised by the apartments and its surrounding. The initial feeling were that the internet and brochure photo's didn’t do these apartments justice. The pool and bar area look magnificent and very large, we traveled in a group of 15, so required it.
On check in the receptionist seemed a bit grouchy but that was the only day she was there out of 14 so she was quickly forgotten about, and all other receptionists and hotel staff were pleasant and friendly and always wanted to talk, even the cleaners!
We took our 3 year old boy (almost 4) and hardly heard from him through the day as he entertained himself in the swimming pool, by the pool table and games room. There was also daily activities such as water volleyball, water polo, water gymnastics etc put on by the animators who made the 14 days an excellent stay.
The rooms are basic but fit all your needs and are cleaned regularly. Actually the studio apartments are surprisingly large. The apartments are about a 5 mins bus ride from Protaras town centre and fig tree bay (amazing beach, clear water and water activities) which costs £0.80 or a taxi for 4/5 costs around £4. Its with in walk able distance but took us around 15 - 20 mins so we often took the bus.
Overall it was an amazing holiday made especially by the stay at Narcissus apartments.

Had read reviews after booking and was filled with dread! Very early arrival, night porter does not speak much English but does try to help you. Our apartment was "up the back", past the pool and up the steps, (as all apartments outside are.) It did help when we realised that the apartments were in blocks!
Room was basic but pleased to find we had beds instead of a studio couch. The room was more than adequate and clean, with daily house keeping service and regular laundry changes. We found the shower head to be broken on arrival and was promptly fixed within the hour with apologies.
You pay for air-con, ours had chosen not to work (in that heat I couldn't blame it), the on site maintenance man could not fix it and outside contractors were bought in, we were asked if we wanted an up-grade to the hotel because of this and declined (didn't want to re pack for a weeks holiday), refunds were given.
The pool-side bar is not in use, but another bar is within 10 metres, that’s close enough for me. The pool was well maintained, clean with ample sun beds. There were themed nights throughout our stay, with local and international artists; the food was a very good standard.
The staff were always courteous, clean and smart, efficient. The local beach is 10 mins casual walk, (cutting through the opposite hotel) with ample sun beds, umbrellas, clean toilet, changing rooms bar/cafe, water sports, snorkelling and safe bathing, the left hand side is the sandiest. It is a returnable hotel, nothing is perfect, but they all try at Narcissos to make it that way for you.

I’ve just arrived home from the Narcissos hotel apartments and I must say I’m glad I’m back. I was very disappointed especially as I went with Thompson who generally have superb accommodation.
We arrived early hours and were told your rooms up there and just pointed, so tired and drained we dragged our cases across the pool area and up two flights of stairs and eventually found our apartment. The apartment had a rusty bath two electric rings to cook on and a fridge and that’s about it, no kettle or toaster, we had to wait half hour for the tin kettle to boil on the ring and it wasn’t really possible to cook much without an oven or grill.
The pictures of the place showed a lovely waterfall running into the pool and a pool bar. Well the pool bar was empty apart from insects and weeds had grown on the dried up waterfall. In all not good value for money.

On arrival the 'apartment' decoration was depressing, the window (bearing in mind we were situated on the ground floor) would not lock, there was no curtain for the window, and a funny smell lurked in the room. As soon as we flagged these issues with the manager he very kindly upgraded us to another room for our stay.
Although on the second night of our stay the air-conditioning gave up, when we asked to have it fixed they sent some one up straight away, but he could not fix it. They therefore turned on the air-conditioning the living room - which we did not use or sleep in. The following day we heard nothing about our air-conditioning being fixed. When I asked at the end of my stay they apologised and the lady seemed very set on arguing her point instead of listening.
All in all a very poorly organised hotel with a very good manager, and the young lady who helped us at the beginning was very polite, the other staff were no where near achieving reasonable customer service levels.
At the end of my stay I requested a feedback card, so I would not have to come back and write this comment instead, but they did not have such a procedure!
By the way, you have to ask for air conditioning, they charge you extra and breakfast is between 8-10am and is served to the left of reception-no one really tells you this.
On a positive note, Protaras is BEAUTIFUL, we didn't stay at the hotel so got to enjoy the lovely beaches in the vicinity.

Arriving early morning after a night flight, reception staff could have been more helpful. We were given our key and told that our apartment was past the pool and up! Up where we asked? You will see them just go past the pool and up. No offer of help: No trolley for bags: anyone to show us the way. Well we did find the apartments unlocked the door, promptly locked it again and went back to reception, the room was tiny smelly and the water was brown, we were told it was because they had been closed all winter and we were among the first visitors of the season. Wow! Didn't they know we were coming?
We were told we could not be moved until we had spoken to our MyTravel rep who was visiting this afternoon at 2pm the time was now 7am and we left UK at 10.30pm previous day. We did try contacting the rep but were told that she was busy doing welcome meetings. Hey thanks for the welcome MyTravel.
When the rep arrived she was a little less helpful than I would have hoped, but understand I have had no sleep and am wasting my holiday. ( Very short of patience by this time ) she eventually got us another apartment in the main Hotel block Fantastic room with balcony overlooking mountains and sea view, albeit a fair distance away. Cost of upgrade £7 Cyprus pounds each. What a bargain.
Once settled the Hotel and surroundings could not be faulted, the staff in the Bars and Restaurants were second to none, Food was initially basic but improved as the holiday went on (I am not afraid to return a poor quality meal) We ate all our meals at the hotel and enjoyed 70% of them. Pool area and sun beds were very clean and tidy. Domestic staff superb.
We will definitely return to the Narcissos hotel soon but will make sure we are in the main block before travel.
Others seemed happy with the apartments but we were not.
We did make our views known to the manager who told us that he was going to get the other apartments sorted out ASAP. Please do not be put off by our experience just be aware of what is available. The setting of the apartments that are "past the pool and up" is very nice and quite they just need to be aired and painted at the very least.
If you go say hello to Michael the Head waiter/bar man he was great.
