My husband and I returned from our stay at the Lesse Hotel just over a week ago and it was the best holiday I have had for a long time. We stayed in C block with a view of the sea but it is a shame the trees block most of it and the rooms are quite dark but we didn't spend much time in them and the air con was included in the price so I can't complain. Our holiday cost around 800.00 for two weeks in July so I think it was excellent value. We had bed and breakfast and the food was plentiful if a bit samey and you won't go hungry.
The beach is a couple of minutes away and it takes about 15 minutes to saunter into Hanioti which is very quiet during the day - simply because its too hot - and very busy at night. I liked the fact there are a lot of nationalities and it gives the place a cosmopolitan feel We enjoyed a pre-meal drink at Cafe la Fleur on several occasions and ate most at La Romantica which served enormous pizzas and always gave a complimentary dessert. You could buy a litre of house wine for seven euros which was excellent. We also ate at the steak house and the rooftop restaurant but enjoyed La Romantica most, eating there a few times - on our first and last nights also.
We hired a car for three days and toured the Kassandra penninsula on day one, visited Thessaloniki on day too (but far too hot for shopping) and toured the second pennisula, Sithonia, on the third. It was an extremely hot day, probably about 37 or 38 degrees, and we found an amazing beach at Sarti with the most beautiful view of Mount Athos. I can't wait to go back there again!
- Advice: I've been to two Greek Islands but would definitely recommend Halkidiki

I booked the Lesse as a late deal and got a really good price for me & my husband. We recently got married abroad but then wanted a nice holiday where we could enjoy time as husband and wife. On arriving at the hotel we were really impressed, it is a beautiful hotel & the hotel grounds are very pretty and well kept. The beach is only a short walk away aswell as the resort of Hanioti too. The room was a good size and there is plenty of room for all your clothes, there is also a kitchenette which was adequate if you wanted to make anything to eat or drink. The bathroom & shower however is a little small, even for someone like me who is only 5 foot nothing lol. But we didn't let this bother us. We also put down it was our honeymoon and we had bath robes, a basket of fruit and complimentary bottle of wine in our room which was a nice touch too.
The best thing about the hotel has to be the staff, Jon & George the bar tenders are brilliant. They went out their way to chat with us and make our stay more enjoyable. George made me some fab cocktails and Jon took us out one night with his Fiancee to see the premiere of the new Twilight Eclipse which was great.
We ate at the hotel most mornings and also had lunch there. There is plenty to choose from at breakfast time & we tried something different everyday off the lunch menu too. Prices are reasonable too. Beer being 3 Euros for a large one, cans of coke, sprite, fanta etc were 2 Euros and the average lunch meal costing between 2-6 Euros. All our meals were lovely too. Not one of them was bad. We never did eat in the hotel restaurant in the evenings though so I can't comment on that.
We did join the hotel staff for their weekly Greek night (Thurs evening) which was brilliant. Lots of lovely Greek food to choose from and Greek dancing etc.
We went out most evenings into Hanioti and enjoyed all our meals there too. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from so never got bored of any of the food at all.
I would go back to the Lesse & I am even considering it again for our holiday next year if we can get a good deal again.

A girlfriend and i chose the Lesse as we were recommended by a friend but also because all the reviews were so good.
We stayed in B Block for 1 week half board and we couldnt fault our stay in any way.
The staff were all fantastic and so friendly and helpful.
The Lesse is a family run business with such a great atmosphere.
A lot of the guest that we had met had been here year after year which in my opinion speaks for its self, i will definetly be coming back.
DO NOT let the transfer time put you off, it is so worth it and if your as lucky as we were most of our coach transfer were staying at the Lesse as well so this cut the time down.
George the barman we both miss you so much, you looked after us so well and you were very entertaining.
Food was always good and always a nice variety, well worth being half board if your on a budget.
- Advice: Loved Lesse so much, will be back soon

We have just come back from a week in Lesse studio's and had the best holiday ever! the hotel is fab, especially the pool with the gorgeous views across the sea to the next penisula. The staff are helpful and friendy. We chose to do bed and breakfast but the food was so lovely with plenty of choice that we ate one night in the hotel and had one of the nices dinners of the holiday.
Hanioti square is a bustling, vibrant place with plenty of places to eat, we recommend to go to the 'kassandra roof top gardens resturant' as it was absolutly gorgeous and the staff were so friendly we went there 3 times it was so nice. if you are off stay at lesse hotel have a amazing time :-)

This is an excellent hotel. All of the staff were extremely helpful and definately made our holiday even more enjoyable. George and Martin in the bar were very funny and even re-inacted the final scene from Dirty dancing!
Pedro in the restaurant was also a credit to the hotel. The hotel is just a 10 minute stroll from the main square which was good as it is lovely to have a walk after dinner back to the hotel. The beach is literally accross the road (about a 1 min walk!).
The rooms were big for a studio and were cleaned every day.
The First Choice rep, Lauren was really helpful and told us all about where you can explore without being too pushy. She also attended the Greek night, the quiz and the Karaoke in her own time which was great as we have never been anywhere on holiday where the rep gets so involved.
We will definately return to this hotel.

My friend and i went for a week half board and had an excellent room in B block right on the corner. The room was clean and spacious, beds changed every day, nice quiet room. Food was very apppetising and pedro the waiter gave very good service. We enjoyed the closeness of the beach and the walks along the back streets too Hanioti, and the walk too Pefkohori.Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful, including Georgia the receptionist(the massage chair was ace).THe rep did not help us, we asked for bus timetable and walking routes several times but not forthcoming, she was always in the bar!
The entertainment could have been better, only Greek night, waiters dressed up.But all in all we had a lovely holiday and would go back again.

The hotel was very clean and modern. The staff are very friendly and helpfull. I only have a couple of minor complaints which are.If you ask for a sea view in "C" block which is the only block facing the sea you end up with a view of trees which is a shame really, and if you are a none smoker and you have smokers occuppying rooms either side of your room you end up with a room full of cig smoke.
I would really recommend the food at Stones restaurant which is walking distance from the hostel on the sea road. And the Steak house in Hanioti square.Oh and make sure you bring waterproof footwear for the beach as the sea has some sharp stones in it.
I would also recommend the trip to Mount Athos but i wouldnt go with the tour operator because you spend most of the day picking people up. If you are confident to drive a hire car i would drive to the port. The roads are good and well signed.

My friend and I booked a pretty much last minute deal to Hanitoi and could not believe our eyes when we pulled up outside Lesse Studios! It was so far removed from the grotty hotel we were expecting, we nearly fell out of the coach. The hotel is situated a gentle ten minute stroll from Hanitoi town and a couple of minutes from the beach, should you wish not to spend the day sitting by the pool, sipping Singapore Slings or floating down the lazy river. The complex was very clean, kitchenette well equipped and there is a shop on site for those emergency items. Would recommend the B&B option, as the breakfasts were hearty enough to keep you going until dinner. The biggest selling point is Lesse's staff - especially the chaps at the pool bar - where nothing was too much trouble. I loved it so much I went back again a few months later!

The hotel has 3 apartment blocks around the pool area A, B & C. We were in C which is dark and bearing in mind the awful weather we had very cold. So try to get one of the others I think they get more sun. Reception area is very nice and staff friendly and helpful. They did put on an a Greek night but due to weather (raining) very few people went. Small shop on site a little bit more expensive than supermarkets and doesnt carry much of a range of items. They do a buffet in the evening 10 euro and its mass catering at its worst - dont bother. Didnt try breakfast so cant comment. Pool area is very nice bar snacks are quite good pedro and goran are the guys seem to be there all the time are nice people. Rep is useless dont bother booking trips with them you will pay over the odds you can book them direct through the hotel or in Hanioti, same as for car hire. Cleaning was OK. Its probably a 15 min walk to the village square there is a back gate but sometimes they lock this of an evening. All in all its not a 4 star hotel as we know them.

OK if your reading this then you are considering a holiday to Halkidiki and more particular in Hanioti my recommendation is dont go, there are plenty of other places better. If your still reading then I assume that you are still deciding whether to go once again DONT.
If your are determined to go then first of all let me say that the weather when we went was dreadful (actually far better back in the UK) it cold wet miserable. Without the sun these resorts look like what they are fairly grubby and frankly boring.
Hanioti well all roads lead to the square you will soon get fed up with it. Lots of bars resturants surrounding it but just go off the side streets and you will get the same food only cheaper. They are all much of a muchness nothing to say about most of them apart from the fact none offer any entertainment apart from big screen TV's were you can watch every football match played. prices are expensive no diiferent form the UK apart from the square were they are more expensive. Sunshine cocktail bar probably the best and liveliest but its main attration was theat it had a log fire, much appreciated. Stones is a nice place for a meal lady who runs it is very good and the house wine goes down well. TOurist shops full of rubbish boy do they have loads of old stock I assume because the people turn over quite quick then they think they can get away with it put stuff still commemorating the nationa side win in the Euro championship come on!
Lesse apartments are OK bit of a walk to the centre but no problem staff in the bar pedro and goran friendly and helpful. Try not to get block C its dark you need the lights on during the day, equipment is basic, cleaning is OK. The hotel is NOT a 4star. Dont have the 10 euro buffet is not worth the money. Pool area is nice albeit coz of the weather we didnt use it. Some do's and donts, tours book them in hanioti or through the hotel they are all price fixed so wont get any deals (dont go through the rep you will be paying much more), car hire again the square has two companies if they are on good terms with each other prices are fixed if they have fallen out then you can negotiate a deal, or you can do it through the hotel. Hanioti is not the best resort try further up the coast towards Kassandra.
With the exchange rate being so poor then Greece is not a cheap place to go. I mean olive oil is cheaper in Tesco than in the local supermarket. Tourism is dominated by Eastern Europens Serbs, Russians, Bugarians etc and is only likely to become more so. Stick to the Greek islands. Tony

Read all the reviews and believed the weather forecasts, after we booked and too late to change our minds. It was raining when we got there and after 5 days freezing as well. No heating in the Lesse just huddling around the 2 electric hobs in the room. Georgio & the bar lads good fun but tired after long season. The other staff, especially the pregnant lady, indifferent & did not want to be there at all. The Lesse food was very average & the breakfast buffet was cleared early by the waiter - well anything that was left by the Russian guests anyway. Although the Lesse is clean & tidy, Hanioti is filthy with large stray dogs, a beach of tab ends, litter & bottles. It is also almost closed with tumble weed blowing down the streets. All but a few of the restaurants, shop & bars were closed. The Greeks went home a week before because they know it is pointless going on. (Felt a bit like that myself by friday). I am not bothered by this if it was warm & sunny but when it is raining & freezing it makes for a miserable time. I did take some photos to illustrate the dispair of the town but looking at them it would be unfair on even Hanioti to publish them.
After a night in the sub zero bar on Friday - even the friendly Georgio refused point blank to close any of the wide glass doors - with the other guests disscussing escape & suicide we woke to wall to wall sunshine on Saturday morning. The scramble for the sunbeds was something to behold as was the shivering when the clouds regularly blocked out the sun. We all persevered all day not wasting a second of sunshine. The camaraderie in the face of such adversity was brilliant and we had one of the funniest afternoons I can ever remember, we carried on into the evening and all formed a walking bus into Hanioti for dinner in the only restaurant open on the peninsular. The sun shone the next day with some warmth so we all did exactly the same again with no respite in the laughter.
So to Dan & Anne, Greg & Michelle & Brian & Karen, thanks for making a dreadfull week into a very memorable & enjoyable weekend. Yes I have sent you the emails & facebook requests - Carole says sorry.
On Monday morning there was a return to the cold cloudy conditions as we left for home. When we arrived at Manchester it was like walking into a sauna with wall to wall sunshine.
Honest opinion travel operaters should not be sending people here after mid September not because of the weather particuarly but because it is all but shut.
