Hey come on guys, u have all said it ur selves u get wot u pay 4.If u spent less time at reception moaning , u could spend more time sight seeing in Malta and realize that actually it is a beautiful and interesting country. My husband and I have been 2 Malta 6 times in the last 7 years, staying in both the Palm Court and The Venus,and 4 the price u pay u can afford 2 eat out every nite, which is wot we do. The bedding was changed every week, we only went 4 one week, how often do u change ur bedding at home?weekly? u want luxury then u have 2 pay 4 it.Yes u do see the odd cockroach but we have also stayed in 5* hotels around the world and seen cockroaches.The crystal clear Mediterranean sea is a stones throw away so why would u want 2 swim in a hotel swimming pool.[don't go in June as the sea is FULL of jellyfish i know as i have the scars!]As a second holiday we find it's cheaper than staying at home, so if it's luxury u want go 2 another hotel,if u want 2 top up ur tan and drink sum beers Malta is 4 u! We will be back in September 09.

I did NOT enjoy my stay in this hotel. It is dark and dingy. The beds are made with sheets and a throw. It is obvious that the throws have not been washed for a while - they were stained and made me feel uneasy about getting into the bed. One towel only is supplied. There was a piece of rubbish on our bathroom floor when we arrived - so it was obviously not mopped out. And then the bathroom was never touched again during our 3 night stay. We left a piece of paper on the floor and it was never even lifted up.
It is a DISGRACEFUL standard of hygiene and cleanliness. Some people say you get what you pay for. That is unfair to other hotels on the island who do not charge any more but give you cleanliness and hygiene - these are basic requirements and NO-ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR THEM.
I will never be going back to Venus Hotel. I have stayed in youth hostels whose standards were miles beyond theirs.

I am really sorry for my comments but this hotel is the worst i have ever visited.I had some things taken away from my room and when i asked for at least a proper explanation no one paid any attention.Let alone the refund they were obliged to give. I left a mail and a phone number and no one took any interest into informing me. The police reported it is the worst hotel in the territory. I appeal to all these who look forward to a nice and relaxing vacation,if they are to visit this hotel, to take these things into consideration.

My wife and I booked a last minute holiday and chose the Venus because it looked a bargain. It was. We've had worse, certainly better but the overall opinion was that it wasn't as bad as some of the previous reveiws. Yes the look of the place was shabby, the pool wasn't as clean as we would have liked, but for the money it was OK. We never go by star rating as these are misleading and no resort/country uses the same rating system anyway. It's all a matter of personal opinion. The food wasn't Egon Ronay, but by the way people were piling thier plates it wasn't too bad! Would we go back? Yes. Maybe not in August when it was very hot but certainly in a cooler month.

We went to Venus Hotel in the middle of August. We arrived late at night and was greeted by other family members whom were staying in the Palm Court Sister Hotel around the corner. Our room was situated on the 5th floor with a pool view, the room was brightly lit and satisfactory. The fan went at a pathetic speed and the air con wasnt impressive which left you in a breathless hot state of a night. The bathroom had random stains in the sink and bath-tub and in the middle of the week the hotel ran out of water which left us unable to have a bath, shower, and we were unable to flush the toilet. The area itself was beautiful and we went to the Suncrest Hotel which is down the road daily and paid a small fee to make use of their pool services.
The food the previous week we came was said to be unsatisfactory and not nice however in the second week improved but we prefered to eat elsewhere.
Basicly as everyone has said you get what you pay for.

Came to Malta in august 2008. We stayed at the Venus for one week. We had a 2 bed apartment on the ground floor (3 A). The room was dark, bad lighting, it was dinghy and the bathroom didn`t smell good. We had a visit – now and then, a huge cockroach. The sheets and the towels were only changed once. The air-condition didn’t work. We complained everyday for a week, as it was almost too hot for sleeping. They never fixed it….
The breakfast was served a the hotel across the road. The breakfast-room was hot, and the food was not impressing.
At the Venus you get what you pay for, nothing more!

My partner and i stayed in the Palm court in 2006, glad to see standards are being kept up.! it was a flea infestead dump then, the food was abismal and how they managed to cook beef black on the outside and red on the inside beats me. we to HAD THE BOTHER OF GETTING ANY SERVICE at all from the staff that were at best ignorant, my partner was brought up in malta in the RAF so she was very unhappy at the standard they say is 3 stars more like 3 nails in yer coffin DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES STAY THERE.

ME AND MY FAMILY VISIT VENUS APARTMENTS EVRY YR AND LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, THE STAFF ARE FRIENDLY, THE PLACE IS IMMACULATE AND THE STAFF CLEAN THE ROOMS EVERY DAY!
I'VE TRAVELLED ALOT AND THIS HOTEL IS RATED THE HIGHEST BY ME AND MY FAMILY. AND WILL CONTINUE TO GO THEIR EVERY YEAR

This was our first visit to Venus, and will not be the last. We paid very little for a great holiday, including the flight, transfers and accommodation, and we are currently looking to book again, once the Venus reopens after refurbishment last year.
We stayed at Palm Court last year, because the Venus was closed, but although we did enjoy the Palm Court also, we are looking forward to going back to the Venus. For situation and amenities, you will be hard pushed to beat it for the price you pay. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.

I stayed in their 2 bed apartment on the ground floor and was horrified when we entered it! It was very dinghy; the walls were buff coloured breeze blocks (no plaster). The kitchen window looked out onto a central well that was a drainage area. The toilet wall had excrement on it, but the rest of the place was fairly clean. The bathroom had no fixed shower and the water was often cold. Sometimes a large cockroach would come out and visit us when in the loo.The sheets were only changed when we asked, as were the towels - in fact every time I saw the maid she wanted to give us more towels at the end of the holiday!!
The restaurant was in the sister hotel across the road down in the basement. It was stifling hot, so we didn’t hang around too long. The food was edible and a choice of 5 or six dishes (not too bad).
I since learned that apartments get cleaned once every 4 days but hotel rooms are done every day.
I took the attitude we only slept in it and wasn't too bad but my wife was much fussier and demanded a bit more.
All in all though you only get what you pay for - it was just a cheap holiday!

Do not go!
This place is a dark, dank, disgusting, flea infested dump! I would not house my worst enemy in this hell hole!
I went for 2 weeks and spent most of that battling with the jumped up little worm on reception who just insisted on grunting at me, as I tried to explain that I couldn’t stay in that room due to the fact that I was seriously concerned with the amount of bodily fluid and fleas that were all over my bed!
We were originally at the Venus but refused to stay there and were “up graded, free of charge" to the Palm Court!
I haven’t got one nice thing to say about this place, it’s a minging hell hole.
Our sheets were changed once in 2 weeks even when I stripped the beds and placed them in the bath tub they took them out still damp and put the, back on the bed, although they did wash the floor twice, on the second time they wet the floor that much that when I walked in, fell on the floor and smashed my leg on the bed I thought there had been a flood!
If you value your health I seriously wouldn’t even going near the pool, its dirty cloudy smells of urine and stale beer, I ventured down there once and quickly, did a U turn when treading on a used condom!
The food smells that bad that we couldn’t actually get to the food for fear of being sick, and the fact that my shoes were sticking to the floor didn’t fill me with much confidence either.
The best part of the holiday was coming home and that is the honest truth!

" This is NOT a three star hotel by any... "

This is NOT a three star hotel by any means. It would barely make 1 star. I booked the holiday thinking that if it was three stars it must be OK. Oh how wrong I was - cracked dirty tiles, air conditioning that didn't work, a pool so cloudy you couldn't see your feet and uneatable food.
We transferred hotels after one night - to a four star that was so superior it confirmed that there is no way that the Venus or Palm Court are three star.
On the positive side British Jet were absolutely fine and I would happily use them again.

The temperature was in the 40's and we had no air-conditioning, only a fan over the bed which moved warm air around and made a terrible sound.
The beds were terrible and we ended up just sleeping on top as in the 12 nights we were there, they only changed the sheets on one occasion and even then we had to ask several times, our towels were only changed once too!
If we opened the window all we could here were the water trucks, waste trucks and laundry trucks outside the Palm Court at all hours, but mostly between 7-9am in the morning our 2 bed apart was also just above the bar!
We used no facilities and the pools were a disgrace, we had heard of several people coming down with ear-infections, not surprising as the water was disgusting!
We went to the Lido on the front which was fantastic, but of course I had to pay and it was worth every penny! We even had decent showers there as the one in our apartment was useless.
My 2 children, husband and I couldn't wait to leave and in-fact it is the worst (Basic) hotel I have ever stayed in!
I would highly recommend that you do not stay at this hotel or its sister hotel if you value your health, we've come back from holiday feeling like we need another one!

Awful, awful, awful. You get what you pay for - not. I personally have basic standards that were certainly not met - by the plaster falling from the walls, the brown stained pillows and mattresses, the frayed and still dirty bedding and towels. The balcony railing on our 3rd floor barely reached adult waist height and was very loose.
We had two rooms, one of which had a broken door and the other still had the previous holidaymakers living in it. We had to walk across the road for our meals - meals that I would not give to my pets. Disgusting, vile food and drink that I could never force upon my poor children. This was all learnt in the first few hours. I did not think it could get worse. No rep on hand to complain to.
My youngest daughter ended up in hospital having surgery on her back on our first night. She was bobbing up and down near the edge of the 'kiddies' pool at the Venus. She caught her back on the very sharp edging of the pool and ripped through flesh and muscle to expose the bones of her spine. She underwent emergency surgery to repair the damage.
We spoke to the holiday rep the following day who was rude and very aggressive. We moved out and found alternative accommodation that day. Vile place, vile staff who lie constantly.

I stayed there... "
Horrific.
I stayed there for 2 weeks and I have decided to try and sue the company as they promised me a nice holiday with good views. When I got off the bus, I looked at the hotel and felt like I wanted to scream. The hotel was disgusting! I walked into the reception area and the staff were very unfriendly. I think she deliberately tried to send me into the wrong room and she sent me to the wrong hotel.
When I got into my room, I looked at the bed and it was dirty. My dog's pillow was cleaner and I would rather sleep in my toilet.
The food was disgusting, it was like eating a pile of horse manure and all the food was slimy and after that I had food poisoning for 3 weeks!
The pool was deep and unclean, it looked like they had let a shark loose on a young child and let it rot in the bottom of the pool!
Near to the beach my a**e it was about as near to the beach as Russia is near to England! It was a awful walk! You had to walk down some disgusting street with rats and other creatures crawling up my leg.
My husband originally bought me this as a thank you for our 25 years of marriage and after the holiday I am surprised I didn't kill him!
It was horrific, if you are going or thinking of going then I would literally hire a skip and sleep in it as you would get better value for money!!
I am disgusted in what I saw and would never venture anywhere near Malta with a barge pole!! If you are thinking of it then go to a good hotel about 3* - 5* and near the beach as you will avoid most of the disgusting sites!! If you are after something more cultural then go to Sicily as we got a boat trip there and it was lovely!!
