" We stayed at the sunshine for one... "

We stayed at the sunshine for one week and had a fab holiday. It did need a bit of a makeover with the old paintbrush but what it lacked in colour it was made up by atmosphere and terrific staff and guests we had a ball!!!Towels changed every day nothing was to much bother for any of the staff the little meeting place was at the bar which you had to pass to get to youre room whenever that was!!!Hello Audrey and Kieran sorry didnt get youre number at the airport but would love to meet up again.Hi everybody else that was in our group we will always remember the brilliant time we had.Sunshine has the advantage of being slap bang in the middle of Gumbet to the right and Bodrum to the left about a twenty minute walk in either direction and youre there. As far as i know Sunshine was being bought over as we were leaving so dont know if we can book it again for july/august time but will try.

" The Sunshine hotel was very pleasant... "

The Sunshine hotel was very pleasant but certainly not a 3 star hotel.

The staff were really nice and helpful. The sheets and towels were changed daily which is a first for me and also the place was spotless, but in need of a lick of paint. Because it was the end of season they were running out of drinks, so I got to take my own!

I would recommend the Red Dragon for something to eat in Gumbet which is mainly Chinese but has European and Turkish too, they pick you up in a taxi for free and take you home too. In Bodrum the best place is Brees at the harbour, I have never had carbonara like it! And the mushroom steak is to die for.

I was lucky to have had fab guests staying at the same time....you all know who you are!

My son had his 13th birthday there and they all made it a very special one for him. Had a birthday cake made for him in Bodrum cake shop, the best cakes ever!!

" Just back from a fantastic holiday at... "

Just back from a fantastic holiday at this hotel, staff could not have been better, food was varied and very tasty with more than ample quantities. The lack of entertainment commented on by some was a plus point for us, there is plenty of that locally.

If you want a quiet relaxing holiday being waited on and treated like a king then this is the place.

Yes, the rooms are basic, but more than adequate and cleaned every day with fresh towels daily.

The bar staff are really pleased to meet english people and love to chat, they try very hard to speak english.

Overall a very nice place, heaven knows how anyone could moan!

" General apartment area very good and... "

General apartment area very good and clean however when we were shown to our room I was horrified.

There was myself, my husband and my 2 year old son. The room was not big enough at all. The kickboards in the supposed kitchen area were black and hanging off and the bathroom was disgusting.

We had booked self catering and there was nothing to cook on - no kettle and no plates. There was also a sunshine roof bar and they played their music until 3.30 in the morning - it never went off at 12 when it was supposed to and the earliest time it ever went off was about 2.30 am.

We did get moved to another room but had to pay for it - typical Thomas Cook - on the plus side the actual resort of Gumbet is beautiful.

The pools were very clean and the second room was very clean. Staff are very friendly apart from the reception staff! Look out for the camel who is normally tied up behind the big bush on the steep hill down in to Gumbet - the man will let you take photos and take you for a ride for a few lira.

Definitely going back to Gumbet but next time staying in the Parkim Palas - excellent staff location and just everything.

" We have just come back from the... "

We have just come back from the sunshine apartments me and the wife and our 13 yr old daughter loved it. Pverall very impressed, rooms very basic but clean (even though some rooms don't have balconies but can be requested). Staff very friendly were made to feel very welcome.

Apartments were on a big hill but the views are tremendous especially from the roof top bar. Bodrum and Gumbet only about 10 mins either side which is good would advise a taxi back up which is about £2 or a bus which is about 70p, please note if you get bus make sure you get on orange bus as this is the only one that goes past the hotel.

This apartment is very good for both families and couples as it is very relaxing. 2 great swimming pools, rooms cleaned every day. Would recommend these apartments. We are definitely going back again can't wait. A big thumbs up.

" Just returned from one fantastic week... "

Just returned from one fantastic week in Turkey.

On arrival our luggage was carried by the porter who took us to our room which although was smaller than we would have liked was very clean and close to the pools and restaurant.

There was a fridge in our room that was working but with temperatures so high it was working overtime. We had a telly with BBC news channel and various others with English speaking programmes. Shower was good but hairdryer kept conking out (maybe due to the heat) I recommend the air conditioning it is a must but you do have to pay for it to be switched on at reception 8 liras a day. Safety deposit box is available from reception. Bed linen and towels changed every day and the cleaning fluid used has a lovely smell to it.

Breakfast is mainly lovely crusty bread hard boiled eggs salad and fruit tea or coffee or water and soft drinks, and cereals.

Evening meals consisted of soup (different variety every night, very tasty) crusty bread salads main courses changed every night but you never see a chip mainly rice we had a beef stew, chicken, pork steak, stuffed tomatoes, stuffed courgettes, Turkish meatballs all in all main courses were okay even my Husband ate them and you can't be any more fussy than him! For dessert there was melon, peaches, plums crème caramel and even something that looked like instant whip again soft drinks and water available.

Turkish night is a good night with a free bottle of wine each! It was advertised at 25 lire each but Mustafa changed it to 15 lire.

It has a rooftop bar with karaoke and you can ask for any song which they will download for you there and then local vodka and gin cheapest spirits. This bar overlooks the bay and you can see Bodrum castle.

A great day out is to Kos can be booked at Danny’s (halfway down hill to Bodrum) is cheaper than Rep and offers free trips if he tells you a higher price than 30 lire per couple tell him you were offered a price of 30 lire in Bodrum and he will agree to the price.

Beaches not a good as we would have liked but hammocks, four poster beds, cushions, as well as sunbeds on them. The best beach we did find was over the road from the hotel behind the taxi rank, follow the road down, water sports, free sunbeds and bars down there (we think it was a private beach, but nobody asked any questions)

All in all a great week, would go back again and to the same hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated just perfect for Gumbet and Bodrum without the thump thump.

Hope you have a lovely holiday.

" Having never been to Turkey and... "

Having never been to Turkey and always avoided the thought of Turkey this hotel was the perfect place to begin.

The rooms were clean, the staff were excellent, the atmosphere was electric and the overall appearance of the hotel was superb.

The view from sunshine aparts was overlooking both Gumbet and Bodrum, also including the marina and open sea.

This hotel is a must for anyone who doubts turkey. the friendly approach from staff and friendly approach from those within both Gumbet and Bodrum would alone bring me back to this resort.

There is a massive menu within the hotel which can cater for anyone. The hotel has a sunshine bar which is located on the rooftop which is open everynight right through to morning. The wee man martin that works there is a gentleman and keeps you entertained all night.

My first time to turkey was brilliant, the next time i will most definately return to sunshine apartments. see for yourself!

" When we first got here we thought... "

When we first got here we thought what have we come to, but all in all this was an excellent holiday.

Rooms were basic and all inclusive was not like Spain or Canary Islands, but it was very cheap and you get what you pay for.

I would recommend this hotel and the staff were very friendly and nice, rooms were clean and it was a short walk to Gumbet/Bodrum. The hill was a bind but what other exercise do you get on holiday! T

here is always a taxi or bus. Waterpark at Altinkum was excellent day out. Overall the holiday was good only thing it lacked was entertainment.

" Hi, this was my second visit to these... "

Hi, this was my second visit to these Apartments. We stayed there Aug 2005. It was just me and my husband the first time, it was magic! Having always avoided Turkey, I am really glad we went .

The second time, there was 13 of us as it was my daughters honey moon. We travelled on the 11th Sept 2006 which everyone said was bad luck, just as well we are not superstitious we had a wonder full time.

Apartments are basic, they are cleaned every day towels changed every day. There is a shop attached to the apartments where you can get sugar, milk, bread, butter, jam hams, eggs and other things.

He is a lovely bloke who runs it, if he had not got it in his shop then he leaves you in charge (very trusting which I loved) and jumps on his moped and brings it back.

You are 10mins from Bodrum and ten mins from Gumbet, there is a hill either way - easy going down hard coming up so get a taxi for £2.00.

Don't book trips with reps go to local shops they are cheaper and they give you a trip free.

The cleaning staff make lovely themes with towels and flowers i.e. boats hearts swans its fab.

It's cheaper to eat out in Bodrum, you can get fresh bread and a full roasted chicken to take away - try it! Fab kebabs are to die for. Apple tea brill.

If your not sure in going, have a go, you will love it. Shopping FANTASTIC - genuine fakes. Don't go to gold centre to expensive. Don't buy perfume or ciggies from people in street or baccy, they are definitely fake.

If you go self catering there is a fridge in your room, great for keeping beer cool and water of course.

I have booked 2007 at Seyir Apartment Hisaronu in June, so I will let you know when I come back. Happy holidays to all, Sharon.

" First time in Bodrum, although have... "

First time in Bodrum, although have been to Turkey 4 times now, Sunshine was excellently situated between Bodrum and Gumbet on top of a hill with stunning views over the bay, apartments could not be faulted, with clean bedding and towels EVERY DAY!!!

Staff were excellent, from bar staff to cleaners to waiters, particularly Ecko in the main pool bar, who had us in stitches for the whole 2 weeks.

Both pools were excellent, and there was a large Jacuzzi type pool just for chilling out and cooling down as temperatures were in mid to late thirties most of the time.

Bodrum will certainly be somewhere to visit again, and Sunshine apartments will definitely be on our list if we can swing it.

Thanks to all at Sunshine for making Mary and myself so welcome and comfortable.

" I have just returned from a week All... "

I have just returned from a week All Inclusive in the hotel Sunshine Bodrum with my partner and I have to say we have never been to a more awful hotel!

We arrived there and the receptionist was very vague and didn’t look as if she knew what she was talking about. After sorting out a room for us a porter came and took our bags which I found very nice and took us to our room. As we stood outside the room it look shoddy and the door looked as if it could falloff its hinges at any time! He opened the door and we were presented with the most basic room I have ever seen! A table and 2 beds!

The kitchen was dirty and smelled, the bathroom was the same. On turned the shower on there was the foulest smells of rotten eggs which remained while you showered making us feel unclean! We had a tiny window in our kitchen which looked onto where the hotel staff had there breaks and we could hear and see everything they were doing! Which wasn’t nice! On exploring the hotel it wasn’t much better! All we heard all night long was loud banging! And our room was the last room on our row and we next to a road so we constantly heard cars passing by.

On our first day we found the restaurant ready for a nice choice of food. Unfortunate this wasn’t the case the food was minimal and no choice! And I hate to say it but the hotel was manly German family and all the food was catered for there taste. Our room only got cleaned twice in the week we were there! So the room got even dirtier!

All in all I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone! Turkey is a lovely place but don’t not stay in this hotel if you want a nice room or nice food!

" Having never really considered Turkey... "

Having never really considered Turkey before, I was really surprised. Apart from the fantastic weather, the hotel was lovely. It was placed up a hill so a taxi at the end of the night is a must (even though you could walk it!) but there is a circular bus route for pennies that comes along by the minutes and takes you to where you need to go! Although our resort was classed as Bodrum, we were 10 mins either side of both Bodrum and the neighbouring resort of Gumbet and so had the best of both worlds.

The Hotel room was large and spotless clean, along with being tastefully decorated. We had a bathroom big enough to have a party in and the shower worked perfectly!!! Staff were welcoming, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Locals were friendly as well and although trying to drum up business, were never overly pushy.

After turning my nose up in the past, I think I would definitely go back to Turkey and definitely to this hotel, although I would probably try out a different resort next time.
