" Ignore Any Bad Reviews You Here About Sol Parc "
Submitted By: beckywilsonThere were bad reviews about...
*the apartments not being clean - the cleaner comes every 2 days, changes the sheets and towels and cleans the apartment.
*the grounds being untidy - the gardener was there EVERY day.
*the apartments being dated - unless you go to a brand new apartment block you will find the same style in every place you go.
In all I had a great holiday, lovely weather, friendly staff and only a short 5 minute walk down to the beach.
Good for: Beach

" Great For Young Family's "
Submitted By: A WALKERAnyway we went through with it and are very glad we did.
For those people who wrote review's for us to read and slated the place, I would say that you must be related to Victor Meldrew. Yes there is a lot of shaded area's around the appartments, yes there is a lot of shade around the pool area, but this means it is great for kids. I personaly did not want my Children to fry and have to spend my entire holiday covering them in lotion.
The staff were great, the appartments were very clean if a little dated but had everything you would need except an electric kettle (take a travel one with you).
There are also alot of area's in the sun, all you have to do is use those things called legs. It has a great beach and some nice walks with good views. A good tennis court, crazy golf, volley ball and a fantastic playground in the sand for the kids. Pools are well maintained and clean with fun slides and poolside shower area.
The only downside I can really think of is the prices of drinks and snacks at the hotel. But if you are self catering and you plan it right (like anywhere) you can get over those prices by using local supermarkets and taking your own with you when needed.
Use Rent-a-Car (next to Rex's) to hire a car and see more of this wonderful island. by far the best prices.
For those with a young family who just want to chill out and relax without amusement arcades, banging music all day and night, GO FOR IT!
Advice: Great for those with young family

Submitted By: Mr K PotterAppartment very small, old and dated, very depressing to be in. so we wernt very much! Children sleeping on a sofa with the bottom sliding out to provide another concrete matress.
Carry on camping with the tin kettle on a hot ring! if you want a toaster thats 11 euros to hire.
Resort 90% for Dutch tourists although they were very nice.
The kids club was great for the little ones providing you were Dutch! our children were not permited to take part in the activities. This is awful to explain to a child when a clown appears who will not aknowledge them as they were not wearing the correct T shirt.
Lots of shaddy areas to keep the sun off the children, overal facilities good for the children appart from the kids club!
Evening entertainment absolutly appauling.
Bar facilities need demolishing, in fact the entire appartment complex could really do with a major makeover.
most staff were polite.
Beach stunning.
Outside the complex......not much at all.
Would most definatly not return, we had a great fun week nevertheless but thank goodness it was only a week.
Sorry if I am causing anyone to worry.
By the way, our uk tour opperator listed this place as 3 star accomodation so we expected reasonable comfort, this translates to 2 keys in Menorca so beware.

Submitted By: Mrs J SpaldingThe resort itself seems to have some work done on it and was clean and well cared for, the boardwalk down to the beach looked new and there was a lot of new plants around. The 'strip' of shops and resturants were okay but nothing special although I would recommend the Hong Kong Chinese resturant which was excellent and Anna was really great with the kids.
I liked Menorca but would recommend getting a car as there was no bus service to speak of and I never really saw any taxis in the resort. Fornells is quite nice for a posh meal, Mao and Citedella for shopping and the Wet and Wild park great fun if a little expensive (17Euros for adults 10E for kids).

Submitted By: Mrs L AutyIt is not that bad but certainly not the best place or resort I have stayed in. It depends what you are after really. When we arrived the overall impression was of a British Holiday camp like Pontins but without the British (it is predominantly German). The rooms are very dark and outdated but I have to say our room was very, very clean and I could not complain about the maid service (every other day). The hotel is very near the beach but if you have walking difficulties or have pushchairs or small children with you you are going to struggle. The access to the beach is down, all I can describe, is a sand dune with a wooden walkway that is broken. Once you get there though, the beach is nice but very remote and there are no bars or shops near so once you are there you are there for the day!
Because of this we ended up travelling all holiday to Arenal and Fornells where the beach is nice. Unfortunately there are no buses to Arenal even though its next resort on and that costs 16 euros each way.
The resort in general is great for kids on a night; every bar has bouncy castles, go karts etc. The restaurants not over priced and a good selection for a small resort.
Hope this has kind of helped if you have booked!
P.S. Our ages are 32, 26, 3, 18 months.

Submitted By: Mrs W L MassiahHowever, we missed last year’s annual summer hol and something has happened to the hotel during this period. Firstly, there is usually a lovely b.b.q. restaurant (which is still being advertised in the brochures) on site where you can enjoy a nice meal facing the stage whilst the little ones enjoy the nightly mini disco.
The b.b.q. restaurant no longer exists (apparently been shut for a year now) which means you have to go out to eat. There is a buffet restaurant on site but we only had breakfast there and it was the usual typical holiday buffet.
There is no evening snack bar either - just crisps sold from the bar (no ice creams or sweets). No longer any bar waiters which means a long queue to buy a drink (they don't sell cocktails!).
Entertainment was Flamenco TWICE! Chinese acrobats and a boring dance show (previous years have been fantastic). We had to get a taxi into Arenal D'en Castell for a bit of entertainment (The Temptations, Supremes, Boy band tributes) which are on at the Australian Outback bar.
The taxi cost approx 35 Euros return which we weren't expecting to shell out on all the time but Son Parc seems to close down at 10pm! The beach is absolutely fantastic though and is safe for children as it is very shallow (our kids are 10 and 5years). If you go out to eat at the strip do not eat at Mama Mias. There is a very nice friendly Chinese restaurant which is priced about the same as you'd pay back home.
Oh yes, multi-lingual people may enjoy this resort more as at the Son Parc at time of our stay there were only another 3 English Families. Rest of guests were mainly Spanish, Italian, and Dutch & German.

Submitted By: Miss S MahoneyHowever if you are looking for a tranquil place to recharge your batteries and escape the rat race its perfect.
The beach is stunning and is accessed by a board walk through the picturesque sand dunes.
The pool is surrounded by trees so there is always a shady spot to hide from the mid day sun. There are plenty of beds available for those who want to sunbathe and the water is cool and clean.

Submitted By: Victoria MooreFirstly I have to say the accommodation was wonderful, apartments were clean and bright and the site itself had everything you could wish for. Great for the kids. As for the beach the beach itself; would have been delightful had the water not been absolutely full of jelly fish, whether this was the time of year I do not know but we saw several people including children be stung.
The shops on the site itself were absolutely astronomically expensive and I would not recommend them either by choice or by price.
The village of Son Parc itself was very small and soulless, you could have been anywhere. There was hardly any choice of restaurants and no Spanish food available, just your usual chips and burgers and pizzas.
The resort is also quite away from any of the other resorts worth visiting so you definitely need a car.
WORD OF WARNING
Do not call out a doctor unless it is absolutely necessary, we had to call one for our child who had something stuck in his eye and he ended up being taken by private ambulance to Mahon (the other side of the island) and hospitalised completely unnecessary (we think to obtain money from our insurance company).
