A lot of the tour operators don't go to Croatia yet, and knowing that it's an 'up and coming' destination, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The hotel was great - a nice big lobby with very helpful staff who spoke excellent English. The room wasn't the biggest, but it had everything we needed (missing a kettle perhaps) plus the beds were amazingly comfortable. The breakfast was great, they made an effort to accomodate most people and you could even have bacon, & egg if you wanted - I stuck to the bread cheese, fruit and yoghurt. The pool area wasn't the biggest, but what really made it stand out was the stunning backdrop - the mountains are spectacular, especially first thing in the morning with the low mist. The hotel it's self has a small coffee/bar area with internet facilites and TV area. It is positioned perfectly on the coast - a walk to the right of the right of the hotel, takes you have some great secluded beaches and some beautiful coastline walks. To the left, this takes you into Makarska - past all the cafes/restaurants and the gift shops, onto the seafront and the harbour. We didn't get the best weather, but a couple of days it got well into the 20's - if you go in July/Aug you'll definitely get a scorcher.

Makarska with it's backdrop of the Biokovo mountain range, makes an ideal centre for a relaxing beach holiday. We found the Dalmacija Hotel very comfortable, with friendly, helpful staff, excellent food, kids club during the day but evening entertainment a bit quiet which might suit some people. Plenty of bars along the promenade towards the harbour which makes a pleasant stroll in the evening when it gets a little livlier, although whilst we were there we did not see one drunken Brit (or any other nationality for that matter!) which was great! Plenty to do for the kids during the day when the shingle beach gets very busy, with plenty of shade under the pine trees. A trip to Dubrovnik (although a long 3 hour bus ride) is a must! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Makarska and the Dalmacija Hotel Would we return? You bet! Would we travel with Thomas Cook? Yes, they were great too!
