The Loryma Resort in Turunc near Icmeler.
The first thing that hits you when you arrive here is the amazing views over the village of Turunc and the bays, Fantastic, well they will be as the resort is built into the side of a mountain and I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place for those with walking difficulties the hill up to our apartment was very steep and not a nice prospect in the heat of the day.
The rooms are basic but clean and tidy plenty of room in the 2 bedroom ones even with 5 of us in it. Air conditioning in only 1 room though.
The staff are very friendly and helpful specially Rosa in reception who organised a birthday cake for my hubby, The food was good but compared to the village prices very expensive for evening meal, It was cheaper for us to get a taxi into Turunc each night and eat there. The pool area was clean at all times but when it gets busy there are not enough sunbeds there are plenty of shaded areas.
Bar snacks are available at lunch times and again can be expensive, The place runs on a card payment system so there is no need to carry cash round, Do ask for a print out of your bill and check it carefully we had discrepancies as did lots of other people.
Now on to the kids, there is a small children’s play area and pool but we had 3 teenagers with us and the only things for them were pool table and table tennis, Nothing else at all apart from organised trips which again were chargeable.
We all did the all day boat trip and BBQ organised by the Loryma and had a fabulous day out great fun, We opted for a self catering option there is a shop on site but not at all adequate for self catering which means another taxi into Turunc, they do run a free train into the village but it only runs 3 times a day.. not nearly enough and stops at 6pm.
There are 2 bars at the Loryma both with stunning views over the bay and you always get a bit of a breeze in the evening which is nice after the very hot days.
On the whole a nice place to spend your holiday, not with teenagers in tow though, and this is the first year we have gone self catering we usually go all inclusive, I can honestly say that IF we had stayed at the Loryma Resort the 2 weeks and had all our meals there it would have been more expensive than all inclusive.
The resort of Turunc is fantastic if you like peace and quiet which we do, You can go into Icmeler and Marmaris very easily and cheaply, we went to Icmeler and compared to Turunc it was very busy and we got hassled at every bar and shop that we passed, not a bit hassled I may add, In Turunc a polite " No Thanks " does the trick, NOT the case in Icmeler, It drove me nuts, I was hot and getting very anti social by the time we returned to Turunc. It was like a breath of fresh air to get back to the small but hassle free resort.
I Love the Village of Turunc and would go back again for a holiday but not stay at the Loryma Resort.
