exquisite view, friendly service
we stayed six days in utter luxury: this hotel is exquisitely beautiful without the pretense of some of the better-known grand hotels. for its beauty and attention to design and friendly service beyond the call of duty, this was a five star experience. we paid 230 euros but were upgraded to room 204, with a view of the lagoon and the church domes rising beyond. the room was one of the most comfortable i have ever experienced, perfectly designed, with a king size bed. everything seemed new; it was meticulously clean, carpeted, decorated... more
Nice hotel, great staff
My husband and I stayed in Londra Palace for 2 nights (Nov. 20-22, 2004). Nice hotel, very well-trained, polite and helpful staff. Great location, short walk to all the main attractions. Highly recommend.
Lovely Hotel
My husband, mother-in-law, and I stayed at the Londra Palace for five nights in September. We adored this hotel. It is beautiful with a number of comfortable public sitting areas, a nice bar and a wonderful restaurant. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are fabulous. The breakfast buffet was a great added benefit. I noted some folks thought it was lacking, however in researching prior to our arrival, I found that a good many hotels do not include a breakfast. I also thought the ala carte breakfast was reasonably... more
Nice Venice Hotel
We chose stayed in Venice three days before beginning a Mediterranean cruise in October 2004. We stayed at the Londra Palace Hotel, which I highly recommend. The hotel like most hotels in Venice were originally old palaces. This one was built in the middle 1800's. When you convert a palace (home) into a hotel you usually have a lot of compromises, but we didn't see anything, except small size elevatiors. The lobby was expansive and our room was good size. The hotel has 69 rooms and they advertise they have "100 windows overlooking the... more
Great view, comfortable room
Room was good size and comfortable facing the lagoon, but not what I expected for a junior suite. Two people could only stand on the balcony. One of the best services though was leaving the next day's weather report for you. Weather reports seem to be unimportant to the Italians and we could never get more than a shrug when asking for it. Breakfast was various breads only (and cereal). For a hotel of this quality, I thought hot food would be part of it, or at least eggs. Also it was the same exact rolls, muffins, cake all 4 days we... more
Over-rated if off the canal
Hmm, I nearly booked our whole stay at the Londra but ended up there by chance for only one night. I found it HIGHLY over-rated, though the brunch on the canal is nice. We got a good rate and consequently a very unimmpressive room. Nice bathroom. If you decide to stay here, be sure to get a canal view, which we did not have.
Won't stay anywhere else in the future
We spent two nights in a junior suite at the Londra Palace on our recent honeymoon trip . I obtained a rate of 555 Euros for the junior suite, which basically was a large hotel room (by European standards, actually about average for an American hotel room). But it was decorated beautifully in classic Venetian styling and possessed a lovely bathroom. The best feature of the room, which I had specifically requested and negotiated when negotiating the rate, was the large terrace directly overlooking the lagoon, San Giorgio Island, and looking... more
Nice, but not Special
We stayed at the Londra Palace for three nights at the beginning of our honeymoon, in September 2004. The hotel was very well located, and the room and bathroom were a nice size and were well kept-up. However, we felt that we were misled regarding the "balcony" that we were excited to have, and paid more to have. You could barely fit one person STANDING on the balcony! The man at the front desk told us that there is a difference between a "balcony" and a much larger "terrace," which we accepted as our misunderstanding. However, we were... more
Great Location - Great Staff
We stayed at the Londra Palace for 5 nights, September 19-24, 2004 which was a great experience. The hotel is located in the middle of the action just at the large equestrian statue on the waterfront promenade. This is where the many boats for San Marco dock (it's only a few 100 meters from the square itself) making water access to all other parts of Venice very convenient. One of the great things about this hotel was that the staff were truly interested in the guests. The housekeepers came into the room several times during the day to make... more
Wonderful Location and Gracious Staff
My family stayed here in May 2004 and we had a lovely time. Based on the reviews we agreed that the location was excellent and the staff was very helpful and always happy to assist us. The rooms were really comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was very delightful and the location could not have been better. The also gave us very good recommendations for restautants - Unfortunatly I can't remember the names of them. I'm sure you will be as pleased with the Hotel Londra as we were.
