Great Hotel
from Shortwoodies
We have just returned back from a weeks stay here, and after staying in a few hotels over the years, this one was by far the best. Great value for money, with great facilities. Our rooms were cleaned every day, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was excellent too. We have 3 children, ages 14, 10 and 4 and they all loved it. The buffet meals were of a high standard too with plenty to choose from which we were suprised to find as we had read bad reviews about the food as well as the cleanliness of the hotel. Entertainment was great for both kids and adults. Overall it was a great holiday and we will certianly be looking at going back again. We would highly recommend this to anyone with or without children.
A Good Value for Money Hotel (shame about Thomson though!)
from AParent
We have just returned from the Taurus Park on Sat arriving into Manchester in the middle of the high security alert as a result of Glasgow's attack. (we waited for our cases for 2 1/2 hrs!) As for the hotel, this is a simple well run hotel in a quiet resort in a great part of spain. Myself, my wife and our 4 month old daughter spent 11 nights in the hotel and for most part were impressed. The hotel is very clean and well managed, our rooms being cleaned whilst we were at breakfast every morning without fail. The rooms themselves are a little basic and could be a little more modern, however all the key things are there including Air Con etc. It was also nice in a 3 star hotel not to have to pay for the TV which also shows Sky Sports and ITV1. The food in the resturant was also impressive given the 3 star rating of the hotel, and was better than some 4 and 5 star hotels we have stayed in. Food was plentyful and the quality of the meats etc was excellent. Well done. As for the entertainment in the hotel, what more can I say, really this is not the strong point and whilst I accept that this is a Superfamily resort, the Thomson team were catering for a really "cheesy" market and the hotel entertainment was not that much better. Thomson's welcome meeting was even worse - come on Thomson, raise the standard away from tacky. We did find a couple of decent bars (especially Pepes bar along the lane from the hotel entrance) which allowed you to get away from some of the noise. The resort is low key which was ideal given our little one but anyone considering visiting this resort should bear this in mind. It is also clear that the brits seam to be pulling out of the costa brava as it is much quieter these days. As noted previously on this website, the resort gets much busier at the weekend and the hotel does become a little overrun with spanish. The middle sat of our stay was San Juan in Spain, and the resturant on the sat night and sunday morning was manic. However the rest of the time it was fine. Our only complaints were with Thomson, which in fairness were fairly minor but annoying - 1) Dont pre book and pay £15 for a mothercase cot - they are all the same - you are paying for something you will get anyway 2) We prebooked a steriliser for her bottles and this was not in the room when we arrived 3) We booked a hire car whilst in the resort with Thomson to make sure we got the correct baby seat. This was oursourced to Europecar and arrvied 2hrs late and with the wrong baby seat. Europecar then said that was all they had and refused to provide the correct seat. Thomson to give them their due, however did cancel this car and source a car with a correct seat from a different hire company the following day but we had a wasted morning. Overall, a good value for money holiday in a well run clean hotel.

Golden Taurus Hotel

Well let me be the first to review the Taurus for 2007.What can i say but not much has changed since our first and last visit in 2005.Infact so little has changed there was even the same Chinese show on the Monday night with the same act and they did the exact same show as 2 years previous. One thing you will notice that's changed though if you haven't beeen for a while is the olympic swimming pool has been replaced by a smaller Kidney shaped one similar to the other side of the hotel. There is also a smaller pool at the end and a very shallow one for the kiddies. You won't find this by looking at the hotels website as they haven't updated their site but if you check out the Thomson site it's on there, that's how i found out before we left. Before we left and some time ago i emailed the hotel through their website asking for rooms no higher than the 2nd floor as this is what we was on in 2005 and found this high enough for us.I also requested the, what was olympic side.Well got there and yes we had that side but found ourselves on the 6th floor right over the back at the end away from the reception.Asked to move but they said no because we had 2 rooms. So the moral of the story is if you email them and request a certain room etc etc then don't expect to get it. The entertainment has improved a little bit by that i mean i noticed slightly more outside shows put on but they were pretty much the same as i said as 2005 ie a magic show and a comedy show. This still starts at 10pm after the annoying kids songs that are the same every night. There is still a happy hour at 5pm before the restaurant opens.Something this time that i never noticed before was the hotel was overrun from Friday night for the weeekend by the Spanish and it got very busy. The restaurant got very busy and there was hardly any tables around while they were there. On the food side it is still good but i didn't enjoy it as much as 2005.There seemed to be alot of lamb or beef in a sauce type food.I'm very fussy so didn't like that so found myself eating chips more wherer in 2005 i maybe had them only once. The pancakes are still there in the morning so enjoy them. I suppose that's about it what more can i say as not much has changed. I would like to add though that on Thomson's site and at the hotel they say that they are the only people that offer the taurus for the Brit's.That's simply not true as i booked everything myself DIY alot cheaper than they wanted,as i did in 2005.If you want to know where to book the hotel then drop me a email/PM and i'll happily pass the info on:)

I stayed in the Taurus Park hotel on 1st may. It was a last minute deal I booked online with Thomson's. Myself, my boyfriend, my parents and their friends had a brilliant time here and would recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you have kids. The hotel was immaculate and the staff were very friendly. Entertainment every night and although it did not always suit us it was still reasonable. The hotel is also very handy for the beach and the local train station which you can visit any of the neighbouring towns including Barcelona. The train is very cheap and clean. The food was also very good. This is the first time we have went half board and we were pleasantly surprised. Again not everything suited us every day but fresh salad and cold meats were always available. We would return here for another short break and I must add that the staff are all great especially Kelly and the team for keeping everyone entertained and organised.
great for kids, lousy for adults

We stayed at the Hotel Taurus Park last may 06, i am 36 my hubby is 48 and we have 5 children aged at the time 12 , 10, 8, 5, 3, the hotel on first appearance looked gorgeous, it was very clean and well kept, But we had to que for nearly 2 hrs just to get the keys to our room, we booked a double room which slept 3 with an ajoiner that should have slept our other 4 kids, but we actually ended up with two seperate rooms, which would have meant 4 of our 5 kids being on their own, and bearing in mind that we were on the 3rd floor with little more than a glass balcony, this was just not acceptable, we tried to discuss our problem with the thompson rep, but was simply told to hand in the key to the room that we were not going to use and share the other one.. Brilliant, there was now 7 of us in one room, so much for hubby and me even getting a whiff of romance.. Anyway, we got on with it, the kids entertainment was brilliant, however, it gets to 10pm and you think that something a bit more adult will come, but no, still the same kids games, and still kids running around like it's some kind of indoor playground, i felt really sorry for the waiters, we made ours sit and behave themselves, but in the end (last couple of days) i thought well if you can't beat em, join em!! we had to replace at least two rounds of drinks most evenings, because other peoples kids would knock them flying, the only other entertainment was the lounge bar, which constituted a piano player, OK, if your 90, and it was obvious they didn't like you to take your kids in there. or you could leave the hotel, do a left and there was a little bar just down the road, real spit and saw dust, but again, no good when it was busy, especially with 5 kids. on the whole, i would say, great for kids, They loved it!!!! not so good for adults, food was OK, but we found it a bit like a canteen, and try getting a fried egg with a soft yolk. the kids mini food bar was not that good it consisted mainly of sausages, sausages, oh and sausages.. and the beach was like shingle, but the pieces of shell actually cut your feet, so keep the beach shoes on, and i wouldn't say the sea was suitable for children to swim, it was quite choppy, and had a sudden drop. But the hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly, and our lady that cleaned our room was great.. but hey!!! that's just our experience, i hope that who ever ends up here has a great time, but you'll never catch me going back.
all round excellent

We took our three Daughters (aged 5 and twins 2) to this Hotel with their Grandparents. It was great. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the catering was superb. The facilities for children were excellent with the Kidzone Club open 6 days a week with allocated times for each group and a "drop in centre". Our Daughter, Josie, loved it. The swimming pools catered brilliantly for the girls although a little cold this time of year but they didnt seem to mind. The entertainment team were excellent and every night a different act came on later in the evening after the kids entertainment had finished. Barcelona is only an hour away and the local markets and areas have some nice shops. The hotel had so much to offer us that we didn't get everything done in a week. We really recommend this hotel for families. It is a must and we will definitely return.
Great value for money.

Just had 2 excellent weeks at the golden taurus park. No complaints really at all. Food was very good at both breakfast and dinner. Drinks and snack prices were reasonable and the snack bar did excellent food. Entertainment could have been better but was ok, one small moan really, the beer in the main lounge wasnt good, watered down maybe?? Lovely beer int the snack bar and poolside bar. Rooms were tidy and spaceous, family of 4 and plenty of room for us all. Rooms were kept clean and tidy every day by the lovely maid who was polite and curteous at all times.Location is good as not to close to bars and shops but only a 10 min walk away if needed.
No value and serice for your money I was disappointed

Rooms: Small standard rooms, -very noisy walls and door not very tight - quite dirty not cleaned very well either, - cleaning maids disturb while still sleeping > no possibility to signal that room is still occupied due to lack of door knop sign (which is unbeliveable even for a 3 star hotel) - no key card they still have the 20 year old keys with big room number plate to carry around in you pocket very unhandy. Service: - waiter in restaurant and bars not friendly and slow (talking most of the time with their colleagues in stead of serving the customers) - reception: not helpful at all even though we booked a double not a twin we got a twin with two beds. > we couldnt get a double bed even after asking 3 different receptionist at different times. - you always have to carry money no possibility to charge the room pay as you drink in cash food: - food is not good at all, first no spanish dishes > all international dishes, coffee is lousy so are the juices. Basically every morning and evening the same food and slow waiters. Its a huge Hotel with holds over 600 guests its like canteen food. customers: A lot of families with children, good mix between spanish, english, dutch and german guests. Beach access: beach can be reached by walking over a street and using an underpass since there are train tracks in front of the hotel. trains going every 30 minutes quite noisy. You have to go to blanes or tossa or further upcoast to have a beachaccess without train tracks. in total the hotel and service is not worth the price I can only give it 4 out of 10 stars> better go for the sorabona or the pineda palace also at the waterfront.
