Wonderful Hotel nestled in a quaint Venetian Neighborhood
from A TripAdvisor Member
The Residenza Cannaregio is a wonderful hotel. This hotel looks very inconspicuous from the outside but once inside the lobby is a modern marvel of marble and art. The staff is amazing. We were escorted to our room and shown all of the fine features. The key controls the air and the electricity. If the key is removed, the air and the electricity will turn off soon after. We were simply amazed at the spacious room. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite, so the room was loft style. The room was immaculate and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. Our room had a view of the courtyard which is very romantic at night. There is a resturant on the premises which if seated in the courtyard can also be very romantic at night. Unfortunately the food is medicore at best. There is a taxi stand which has a drop off right on the side of the hotel. We arrived via vaporetto and the hotel is just a short walk from the stop. Venice is a lovely and very romantic city. Staying at this hotel would only compliment a visit to this wonderful and friendly city. If my husband and I are ever blessed again to embark on this lovely locale, we would certainly stay at the Residenza Cannaregio.
romantic modern hotel

Even though I failed to fall in love with Venice, I found this hotel excellent. Excellent rooms (a little spooky at night!), fab bar and restaurant. The staff were very friendly. The hotel is in the furthest north west corner of venice (near the jewish area), but it is such a small place its minutes to all the important tourist attractions. It was a good hotel for when venice floods (take your wellies). Would highly recommend!!
Would recommend it to anyone

My husband and I stayed in this hotel in March for 3 nights. We thought the hotel was wonderful - really clean and contemporary but in an old building and a great setting. I know that lots of people have said it is hard to find...it isn't if you're sensible and have a good map, but if like me you get really excited about how beautiful Venice is when you get off the bus - you'll probably end up a little lost like we did. We found our way there in the end, but only because a wonderful Italian couple helped us out by walking us directly to our hotel !! We didn't speak a word of Italian, they spoke very little English, but somehow it worked !! There was a building site next door when we were there, but don't let that put you off - we didn't hear any noise in the hotel and it really didn't make any difference to us. It might be finished by now anyway ! The breakfast was included in our deal (with Expedia) and was really good. However we wouldn't recommend the restaurant for dinner - quite pricey and a bit bland. You're much better to wander of into Cannaregio and have a pizza. We would recommend however that you splash out and go for a drink in the bar. Have a prosecco with fresh strawberry pulp - wonderful !! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and we hope to go back some day.
Clean, quiet base away from the crowds
from Manco
I stayed here with my girlfriend back in May for 6 days. We chose the area of Cannaregio to be away from the crowded streets of San Marco and it was a good choice, quiet but safe, San Alvise vaporetto stop only few minutes' walk away. The room itself was a courtyard view double room on 2 levels, very clean and comfortable, large bed upstairs and a sofa downstairs. The courtyard is lovely to just sit and relax in after a long day of exploring Venice. The staff are friendly and helpful, and all seem to speak very good English. Breakfast buffet was ok but not amazing (no tomatoes or freshly squeezed juices!) but overall there was plenty to eat... So I would strongly recommend the hotel to anyone, you won't be disappointed.
Great hotel!! Recommended!!!!!

Great hotel,...away from the crowds, but a nice walk to the excitement (piazza san marco, shopping, etc). Wonderful two story room overlooking the canal - just gorgeous!!! Lots of space in the rooms...great breakfast too!! LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOULD definitely stay again!! It was the best hotel was stayed at in Italy (stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels for 2 weeks in Florence, Venice, Adriatic, Genoa,...and this was NOT the most expensive, but all around it was the BEST hotel that *we* stayed at). Enjoy!!!
Wonderful

My boyfriend and i stayed at this hotel in the beginning of July 2005. We booked our entire package with expedia. The entire package was a brilliant deal four nights, and the hotel looked wonderful. We found the hotel really easily, others have said "get a water taxi its too hard to find!", i don't believe this to be true, we got the water bus (alilaguna) from the airport to Fondamenta Nova which is the third stop the bus takes, and we then got the no. 41 or u can get the 51 i think to San Alvise only two stops. We literally got off that water bus walked about 300 metres to the first canal in land and there was the hotel on the right about 200 yards. Our room was beautiful i personally don't think its worth getting a canal view as the courtyard is just so beautiful and the canal although nice is not the nicest looking one in Venice. Although the hotel is out of the centre of things, this can be a welcome break from all the hussel and bussel of San Marco, the surrounding area by the hotel e.g S.leonardo street, which leads into Strada Nova is wonderful, and its literally a straight road to rialto bridge and San Marco. Wonderful stay room and staff were perfect. Did not have breakfast inlcuded in our package, but i can tell you that we really enjoyed their Espresso sat in the courtyard!!!
Fantastic!!

My girlfriend and i along with her folks stayed at the above hotel for three nights in late February 2005. Firstly i would highly recommend a water taxi from the airport as you would be hard pushed to find this hotel by other means plus the water taxi is just something a bit special for your arrival into Venice. The hotel staff were instantly welcoming and their English was perfect. A quick check in and off to our rooms which were excellent in every manner. We asked for a canal view deluxe room and they were true to their word. We had a problem with the air conditioning in the room but once reported the problem was solved in just a couple of hours. The complimentary buffet breakfast was superb with practically every taste catered for. Overall this is a fantastic hotel and we would not hesitate to return again.
Perfect setting for an anniversary
from Truff
We booked this hotel for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and were not disappointed. We arrived by water taxi at the hotel landing stage (15 minutes from Marco Polo and were offered an upgrade to a 2-storey room with a mezzanine floor overlooking the canal. The garden courtyard was the perfect place for a refreshing beer. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as there are so many fantastic restaurants nearby, but the breakfasts were good except for the lack of fresh orange juice. Yes it’s a quiet location, but that’s what we wanted; only a five-minute walk to S Alvise vaporetti stop and a 10-minute walk to the Grand Canal stop, S Marcuola. We’d definitely stay again.
Great place (is also called Residenza Cannaregio)

We stayed here for 3 nights in March on our first trip to Venice. I am a travel agent and always looking for places that I can recommend to clients. This hotel is definetely a great find and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. As others here have said, it is not located near St. Marks Square, but rather near the old Jewish Quarter, and not a far walk from the Grand Canal or the train station..make sure you have a good map though as you must navigate through some narrow alleys (part of the fun of Venice!!!!) The hotel itself was an old monastery and then a gondola manufacturing shop - it has been beautifully restored and has all of the modern amenities with a stylish motif. Our room was HUGE and included a balcony loft for sleeping (very unusual for hotels in Europe at the price you pay for it!!!). The only 2 drawbacks we found were that as a gay couple, we got the impression that some of the staff were a bit uncomfortable speaking with us. We do not flaunt the fact that we are a couple, however 2 men sharing one bed did seem to raise a few eyebrows, but never at any time was anyone rude. In addition, while the breakfast (included in the room price) is quite good, we would not recommend the hotel's restaurant for dinner. The prices are on the high side and the quality of the food not great. My partner ordered a duck breast as a first course and upon cutting into it, discovered part of the plastic wrapping it must have been contained in. In addition, the fish course he had after that was overcooked and full of small skewer bones. Not to worry however, the area has many small and quite good restaurants within a short walking distance to the hotel.
Superb XVII Monastery turned into a 4 star perfect hotel

What a great find! We enjoyed the nice rate of 100 euros plus 10% taxes for a very large, two storeys flat via bancotel. Relaxing, immaculate clean, classy, artistic...an ideal choice for all kind of travellers! Find attached some pictures we took during our recent stay at Residenza Cannaregio.
We have been to this hotel a number of times and love it. The area gives you a feel for 'living' in Venice and the tourist traps are only minutes away. But there's plenty of interest nearby and transport to Murano, Burano and Marco Polo airport is only a few minutes away.... more
