I just read Chrismarks review and although he said it was terrible, he never actually says what was terrible about it. My friend and i went in March and had to fly from glasgow to gatwick and gatwick to Goa. A really long journey and was soooo glad to get to the hotel. ... more

I had read so much good about this place, but they spoilt it all in just one day. Apparently the reviews I read were written by foreign tourists.....and so apparently the staff must behave differently with them. Coz i had the most terrible, officious, unhelpful, even... more

Just returned from a stay at the Heritage, and can thoroughly recommend it. The rooms are clean and spacious, the pool area is compact, but there were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, and a decent size pool. The food was very good, with plenty of choice, and the drinks... more

Heritage Village is a gem of a hotel. It's in a perfect setting just a few yards from an unspoilt beach. It is not in a commercialised area which was quite refreshing. The local Goan village was a pleasant 20min walk through coconut trees. All the villagers were really... more

We are Helen and Ray aged 53 & 50 and arrived at the heritage village Goa on Feb 15th 2008. We were treated like royalty and the staff could not do enough for us. This is without doubt the best service we have ever had on holiday . Although the appartments are 3 star... more

This is a relatively cheap holiday that I would recommend to anybody. The staff, food, and general feeling about the hotel is excellent. The chefs also come out to the poolside and cook morning and afternoon snacks. Trips are available through your company rep or the hotel... more

So relaxing
The hotel was lovely and clean small intimate and the staff were very friendly. Due to the small nature of this hotel the treatment you receive from the staff is outstanding and they really look after you. We made really good friends with some of the other holiday makers too. We visited right at the end of the tourist season before monsoon and the weather was amazing although it did occaisionally get a little too sticky. The water in the pool was more like a bath it was so warm and for a truly refreshing swim I reccommend you visit the waterfalls. We didn't book any trips through our rep instead we found it cheaper to either book through the hotel or get a taxi outside the hotel to take us. We had the same taxi driver for the week and it worked out very cheap he would take us out for the day and wait as long as we wanted before taking us back. Driving in Goa is a little erratic however and sometimes its definitly advisable to shut your eyes. We visited North Goa for the day and came away very pleased that we had chosen to go south. North is a lot more commercialised and busy. The food at the hotel was good but a little repetitive however it was so cheap to eat out that we didn't eat at the hotel very much. I'd reccommend visiting the spice plantation, the waterfalls and the hotels beach party was also great fun. For shopping go futher south to Cavellossim to Luisa by the Sea and the big department store there. There is also some lovely beach shacks to eat at. The only negative thing about going at the end of the season was that we didn't get chance to eat at the beach shck by the hotel. We enjoyed a few drinks there on our first night on the virtually deserted beach but after this the shack closed and was taken down ready for the monsoon. Overall I would recommend this holiday to anyone.
Amazing Paradise Location!
My husband and I spent three wonderful weeks in the Heritage Village Hotel in Goa. We went with two other couples and had the most amazing time ever! The hotel is not luxurious, but has everything you could wish for in terms of pampering, and the staff ther are the best I've known anywhere. Infact the staff actually are what make the place so special, they can't do enough for you and they work so hard from sunup to sun down. Whenever we went anywhere we had our own taxi driver (Constance) who would stay with us whilst we did our shopping or sight seeing etc and then bring us back. All for only the equivilent to a few pounds sterling. The beach (cavelossum) is beautiful - what you might expect on the Indian Ocean, with white sand and WARM water! Hardly anyone there either, except one or two traders, but even they leave you alone if that's what you want. This place is simply as good as it gets for all round experience. We've been twice now and are hoping to go back again in January 2009.
having a memorable time!!!!!!!
we stay 5 days at h.v c.we are 2 familes and really a very pleasent time at hotel. very nice staff, good food and great activities. we stay 9 april to14 april. rooms are spacious and well decorated. house keeping work very good. reception staff is very friendly. I suggest please add kingfisher beer in all inclusive package.
Do not hesitate to book!
Since we consulted this website prior to booking our holiday, I thought I would write a review for others to confirm that this is an excellent choice of hotel! If you hate built-up tourist areas, you will love the Heritage as it's in a peaceful village entirely unspoilt by tourism. It's probably not the best place if you like exploring by foot as it is so remote, however, the sights are all accessible in a taxi which you can hire for 4 hours for about £20. The pool area is really beautiful and the food was excellent with a vast array of choice- the desserts are very addictive and you will probably come back a half stone heavier thanks to them! All the rooms are meticulously clean and well-kept. There is entertainment every night with acrobats, bands and karaoke, and a lovely a la carte restaurant on site with mega-cheap steaks and fish dishes. However, what really sets this hotel above the rest is the superb service. Every single member of staff will go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. I have never been so well looked after on a holiday! Whilst it was very tempting to stay at the hotel all day and be pampered, it is a must to see some of the sights. Going to visit the elephants at the spice farm and getting to wash them in the river was a wonderful experience, as was visiting a Hindu temple and The Basilica in Old Goa. Its almost certain that I will go back to the Heritage as it has the best atmosphere I have ever experienced at a hotel in my life. You're made to feel really special by the staff, almost like part of the family in fact!
fantastic holiday enjoyed every minute!
We have just arrived back (16th April) from our honeymoon which we spent in the Heritage vollage club and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The aim of the holiday was to relax and this is exactly what we did. The beach was lovely and peaceful and there were loungers which you could get from the beach shack. The sea does have a strong undercurrent but it was OK to go in and lovely and warm. I cannot understand that the last reveiw said that the hotel was not clean it was spotless, the cleaning staff did nothing but clean and we certainly didn't find that the pool was dirty. The entertainment was a mixture, some good but some a bit repetitive. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite, every single member of staff always had a smile and a good morning etc. Goa is a very cheap place to visit therefore you can fit lots of outings into your stay. The taxi's are very cheap and will wait for you for roughly 60p per hour! Food was good and plenty of it and we enjoyed our nights to the mango terrace at the hotel. The beauty parlour was a great escape! The staff were excellent and i had a pedicure (£5) which was more thorough than the one i had before my wedding! We also had full facials which cost £5.50 each and was very relaxing. We would visit this hotel again.
Already planning a return visit
Our 1st trip to Goa and all I have is praise for these guys. The hotel is clean and the staff can't do enough for you, and not because they are looking for tips in return either!! The beach is lovelly and desserted although it dose have a strong under current at this time of year so swimming is not advised above the waist. There's sooooooo much great food available from 7.30am til 10.30pm you can even have curry for breakfast if your stomach can cope with that!!! You get tea (tetley!) and coffee making facilities in your rooms which are cleaned daily. If you keep a plastic bottle you are able to refil anytime from the water coolers around the hotel as you do have to pay for bottled water and diet drinks from the bars as they're not on the all inclusive. This hotel is quite isolated but this makes for a very relaxing time and there are several very good trips offered from the Heritage if you want to get out and see some of the surrounding area. The hotel trips are alot less costly than booking via the reps and we found them to be very well organised. All in all came back very relaxed and planning to go back ASAP.
Average
Returned yesterday from a weeks stay at the Heritage Village. We choose this hotel from a number available as a 'last minute deal' after reading the many postive reviews on this website. Given the brilliant reviews I had high hopes. Perhaps my expectations were too high but I thought the hotel was an average 3 star at best. We took the advice given on the website and asked for a quiet garden room. The room itself was fine if a little dated. The food at the hotel certainly wasnt great. There was a reasonable choice, and no need to go hungry but at no time were we able to say we had enjoyed a nice meal. A local beer 'Belo' was available on the all inclusive option but didnt seem to appeal to the vast majority of guests who preferred to purchase Kingfisher (albeit very reasonably priced). Strangely Coke was all inclusive but diet coke was chargeable! The entertainment at the hotel was circa 1970's holiday camp in style, I was expecting a knobbly knees contest at any minute! If you want peace and quiet make sure you get a garden room as the rooms over looking the pool must get full force of the 'entertainment' both during the daytime and at night. The location of the hotel is a little isolated if you want to get out and about and experience Goa, although the beach at the end of the track from the hotel is beautiful and almost deserted. We used the hotel taxis to get up to the Hippy Market at Anjuna, a trip to Baga Beach and another to Palolem in the far south. Each took around 1 1/2 hours along fairly bumpy roads but it was good to see a bit of the area. Palolem in particular was beautiful and you will understand why they call it Paradise when you have been there. On a positive note I would echo all the positive comments others have said about the staff at the hotel. Almost without exception the staff were friendly and keen to make sure you enjoyed your holiday. In summary ok for a cheap last minute week in the sun but certainly not great and difficult to understand why it has so many really good reviews - each to their own I suppose!
Garvey & DB Will not revisit this Hotel
Don't expect to be able to swim in the sea or sunbathe on the beach as there are no sun beds and you are putting your own life at risk by swimming in the sea as there are under currents. The swimming pool was never cleaned during our stay and there was human hair and other bits floating in the pool. There were Brits everywhere wearing union jack shorts and tops! why! they have turned it into a Butlins holiday, as the entertainment was terrible and cheesy and very loud, Bingo, karaoke and a dreadful band called 'Pink Champagne'. We did our own thing and made the best of our time.
Most relaxing Holiday
We had the most relaxing holiday. From the moment we got to the reception we were treated with respect and everyone was so polite. The food was very good in the hotel and Johsy made sure everything we wanted was there for us, and the "good Wine". The Pool area is lovely with lots of Sunbeds. We booked one of our trips with the hotel and wished we had booked them all the tour operaters was a waste of money. Sofia goes out of her way to ensure you are ok and the trips you want to go on are booked for you. A must is the spice plantation were you can wash and ride the elephants, this was a great experince. The beach is lovely and once you have bought something from the beach sellers they leave you alone. A speacial mention for Joseph he was so helpfull and made all our meals and time we spent at the beach hunt lovely. He sells lovely carvings that his family back home make. It was a brilliant holiday and we would go back.
Fantastic Hotel
Well we have just returned from this hotel and we had the most fantastic holiday of our lives. The hotel is very clean and the room cleaners are amazing. From the moment we got to the reception on arrival to he moment we left we were treated with respect and politeness by EVERY member of staff. They canot do enough for you. The food is excellent, always plenty of it and always hot. Swimming pool area is very nice with plenty of sunbeds for all. We booked all our trips through the hotel and they are very reasonably priced. A must is the spice plantation with the option to ride and wash elephants. A very enjoyable experience. The beach at the end of the road is beautiful and clean with next to no one on it. The starfish beach beachshack is a must to watch the lovely sunset evry evening. Although this is not all inclusive it is very cheap to eat and drink there. The mango terrace restaurant is excellent with a good selection of food to choose from. We met some lovely people there (Jim, Mandy, Philip Diane) who have previously been as have many other people and I can see why. We will not return to this hotel as we never return to any location. That is the only reason. The age group in thge hotel is mixed and mostly couples. We have never been to a hotel where you are made to feel so welcome by guests and staff alike. Thew crocodile trip is well worth an afternoon visit as the sights are amazing. Weather in February was brillant. 35 degrees Plus every day. Even after the all inclusive has finished at 11.00 pm the drink are very reasonably priced. If you have any reservations about going to this hotel I would highly recoomend. If you have such a good time as we did you will be very pleased. Good luck and enjoy.
