Recently came back from Goa where I had a mixed holiday. The resort of Calangute and North Goa are idyllic. The beaches are excellent and there are many good restaurants out side of the hotel. The hotel itself was a joke. The rooms were very basic and not the cleanest. The... more

A basic but clean hotel to base your holiday from. This is not the Hilton. However Staff friendly and keen to please. The cleaners are a happy bunch and nothing is to much trouble. The shapes you find fresh towels arranged on your bed are plentiful (snakes, elephants, most... more

Do Not Go There! ! ! ! ! !
have just retuned from a 3rd holiday in calangute so we new what to expect. We stayed at the donna terezinha for 28 terrible nights. Tried to escape after the 1st night, but because it was peak period there were no other affordable rooms available. Even by goan standards this place is a disgrace. The rooms badly require updating and re-decoration,the bed and pillow were rock hard making a good nights sleep impossible, the sheets and towels were filthy.and the room boys spent more time pestering us for money than they did cleaning. THE ALL INCLUSIVE IS A JOKE! The food is disgusting and the bar closed at 10.30. They even had a sign up at breakfast time ONLY 1 JUICE PER PERSON ALLOWED!!!! You are not allowed to take food or drinks to your room. the list of rules is endless,it would take your whole holiday to read them Suffice to say we spent as little time as possible in this hell hole BE WARNED..
Fantastic
Third time we have been to this hotel what you must remember this is 2 star hotel rooms are basic but comfortable and clean , Staff are very friendly nothing is to much trouble ,The food is excelent . Going back in Jan07 for amonth cant wait . In 2004 I hurt my Back on the beach and was hospitalized for a week I had no worries about my wife. The hotel took care of her even found her a new room If I had to extend my stay fortunately I was ok. We returned the following Year They reconised us straight away felt like we had gone back to see our family . We will Be back
Very Basic 2 Star!
Arrived very tired and things looked very bad!. Next morning not much of an improvement on our initial thoughts. Please remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR we went to this hotel knowing that it was just a base - we went to the beach every day and only ate breakfast twice. This hotel is much cheaper than the hotels that are offering just B & B. The staff are not very freindly I think they got offended because we didn't use the hotel - although we never had any intension to. Ricky took a shine to us and on the rare occasion we had a drink there he always ran over to us with a big smile! The rooms were like a prison (I imagine, never been in prison ha ha) beds very hard, very drab surroundings. Please remember that they dont have washing machines to our standard and although the towels and bed linen are stained by Goan standards they ARE clean. The rooms were cleaned when you wanted - you just gave your key to reception. We only had ours cleaned every other day and they were immaculate. We loved Goa and will go back - but not to this hotel. We ate at wave's a few times on Holiday St it had a lovely ambience and fantastic food, bit more upmarket feel to it although a three course meal and drinks only cost about £12.00 per head!. We had breakfast at Maggie's on Holiday St, they also did fantastic evening meals. We went to Aggie's on the beach we never got hassled once, and the food was great. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL AS AN ALL INCLUSIVE AND IF YOU WANT TO STAY AND EAT AT YOUR HOTEL AND USE THE FACILITIES THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!!!! Go B&B or self catering, it is well worth paying a little more for your accommodation as it is so cheap for food and drinks when you are out and about. Any questions drop me an email. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Hotel from Hell!!!
We arrived on the 14th of april. The room was disgusting, the bedding was dirty even the paint work was shabby on the walls. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom also was distgusting this had mould around the windows and walls, also there was not a plug in site! We then decided to give the hotel a change and asked for fresh bedding sheets and towels as i was disappointed with the initial ones provided. Only to be provided with sheets and towels of exactly the same shabby standard. Air conditioning cost £60 a WEEK!! During our stay we seen the pool been cleaned just once in two weeks. Also the towels provided for the pool were dirty. there was no place provided to dine food had to be eaten outside beside the swimming pool, with our good friends the cats and the cockroaches. we were told that entertainment was provided daily, in our stay we recieved two local singers TRYING to sing english songs. THE FOOD! was uneatable, the same menu was provided daily according to the brochure there was supposed to be a pool side resturant and a bar serving chinese, goain, tandori and continental dishers and two alacarte resturants we could not see this. it also says in the brochure there is an unlimited amount of hot, soft and alcoholic drinks including cocktails which we never seen. the beer was the cheapest beer in goa, even the waiters said they would not drink it. when we asked for a different menu we were told that the hotel had to use up what they already had in STOCK as it was the end of the season. it was so bad everybody on all inclusive ate out everynight. The most edible meal from the hotel we had was egg and chips and thats because we suggested it to them as we were hungry. if this goa...... keep it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what do you think about that peter????
basic
Arrived at hotel and was very shocked at the basic facilities there was there. If you wanted air con you had to pay for it otherwise a ceiling fan will have to do, the hotel needs a masive make over. Rooms very dim and basic. Food was appaling and had to eat out every day entertainment was nil except for 2 nights when a couple of locals played the organ and sang. Would not go back to this hotel again and would not go all inclusive as it is very cheap to eat out and thats exactly what we did, Really enjoyed goa and will be going back again but not to this hotel unless they had a massive make over, and improved on the food.
loved goa
arrived in Goa on 9th feb for 28 days ater the culture shock of the hotel (which is in need of up dating) we had to change rooms. but we had a grat holiday the staff were very friendly and helpful. our best regards to Albert the restaurant manager and John who looked after us around the hotel pool. we made a lot of new friends and hope to see them again next year as we are coming back
Basic but fantastic
After arriving in Goa for the first time, and adjusting rapidly, we arrived at the Dona Terezinha. The rooms are very basic, but sufficient for your needs. It is rated as a two star, and that is accurate. The shower has constant hot water, not just for the first person, something you dont find in Europe!! The food is ok, but no need for all inclusive in Goa, everywhere is so cheap and good quality. The staff at this hotel are exceptionally friendly, and after I got over my initial suspicions, I realised they are genuine and not just after tips! Take plenty of pound coins for tips, until you can get your money changed into rupees. We are going back in December, and have booked a flight, and if the price is good we will return to this hotel.
had a great time after the initial shock !
We stayed there from the 9th jan and after along tiring journey (as we had to fly from edinburgh -gatwick - goa) when we got shown our room i could have cried. However, after a sleep and a chance to unwind we then realised that it was a third world country and this is how they live. Once we got our head around this we had a really good holiday. The staff were so kind and friendly and couldn't do enough for us the food was good and varied. the little bar outside the hotel, Babutes was excellent and the service was good. We met people who had been going the this hotel for 9 years running. Anyone thinking of going to Goa should get themselves clothes made, as the tailoring is fantastic.
Very basic
Stayed here in December 2005. Would not recommend this hotel - very disappointed with the room, not very clean. Food was not that good in this hotel and we ate out most days. I would highly recommend a visit to Rosarios beach shack on Calangute beach - excellent food and very friendly people. They made our holiday - if you go say hi from Jane, Shane, Ray Brian, Michelle and Alun!!!. All in all we had a really good holiday but would not go to Goa all inclusive again - too many nice places too cheap!!
Good holiday - bad laundry
This was our first trip to Goa and first Xmas away together. The location of the hotel was excellent however we were somewhat disappointed when we were shown our room. It was like the most basic accommodation in Greece. It was quite large but very sparse. I realise that their laundry facilities must not be very good which showed as the sheets and towels left a lot to be desired - usually grey with orange patches or stains! Although it was all inclusive we ventured out most mealtimes. The food on offer was sufficient even if there was not a great deal of choice. I was surprised that there was entertainment most nights although the Indian singers didn't always know the words to the English songs. You can eat out very cheaply. Unfortunately most of the sunbeds around the pool were in the shade by lunchtime. You get free sunbeds at the beach as long as you buy a drink or two from one of the beach shacks which are reasonably priced. Although we had a good holiday it is doubtful we would visit Goa again as we were constantly hounded when outside of the hotel by beggars and people selling everything under the sun.
