Stayed in the studios opposite the hotel the last week in June. Studio was very clean and bright. Had a lovely sea view. Great chicken done on the spit at the second cafe/bar to the left of the apartments. The owners are very friendly and make everyone feel welcome.... more

I have just returned home from a weeks stay in the Roc Illetas Playa. This was my first trip away with my one year old son so I thought I would treat ourselves to a four star stay in the above hotel. I read a few reviews and thought I would give it a go as everywhere has... more

Had a smashing week. Guy posted saying otherwise on this board must be mistaking the hotel. Would recommend to friends and family.
Restaurant is top draw and entertainment varied.

Stayed in the Penthouse apartment overlooking the sea. Fantastic views from the large balcony. Snorkelling from the Hotels private jetty was great. A two minute walk from the rear of the hotel past some very upmarket restaurants brought us to a very nice beach. Over the... more

My boyfriend and I arrived in the evening, tired from the flight. We discovered that our room was double booked and the hotel staff were not overly apologetic about the mishap. They explained they always book the rooms to people than they can cope with! I could not believe... more

Must be one of the best holidays! Firstly, there’s beautiful scenery - to the left of the entrance there’s a fantastic sea view. Pretty much a great location because of the scenery and its close to quite a few restaurants and shops. I was also impressed with the... more

I am just back from Mallorca and even though it is the nice place the Roc Illetas hotel is no way near a 4 start hotel. I had items stolen from in my bed room, stealing is common over there (another couple got in the same situation whilst I was there). Unfortunately I won't... more

Ideal for Chilling Out
It was very quiet for our first three days which was great and really wasn't too busy after that. We had a small balcony (not overlooking the sea) but did get sun and was very secluded. The room was of good size and clean and comfy. The main hotel has many small corriders full of fabulous furniture and paintings which we kept discovering!! The restaurant had a good choice of food at the cost of 15euro pp. The pools were nice and clean and the indoor pool was fab as it had spa and sauna. The bar was fine and and had entertainment on a couple of times which was very good. The terrace had a great sea view and the sun nearly all day and snacks were available from there until 4pm. We were absolutely bowled over by the staff, they were excellent. Nothing was too much for them. True professionals and all round nice guys!! There wasn't much around the hotel but it was on a a great bus route (no 3) which took you straight into Palma (get off the bus at C & A!!) but there were a couple of good bars (the Petit Cafe and the Petit Jardin) were the best ones. All in all a great holiday for us. Certainly more geared up towards older people (we are only on our 40's) and couples who want a quiet hol. No good for groups who want a rarin time, they need to go to Magaluf or Palma Nova!!!
Loved this hotel - very peaceful
I loved staying here after staying in a horrible hotel on the outskirts of Palma. I found the staff friendly, smiling and helpful. My sea view room was beautiful and very clean. The buffet breakfast and dinner were excellent with lots of choice. Wonderful calm quiet location with nice gardens and pleasant coastline and beaches. For me this was an above average 4 start hotel and totally recommended. I got an excellent deal online and considered this place superb value for money.
Good place for a relaxing holiday
This is a three star hotel (even though it is advertised as four star) in the residential area of Illetas. Very quite and most room have great views (be to ask for a room with a view). I recommend it only if you are looking for a quite vaccation and want to be next to the water. Positives: The facilities are clean. Very reasonable rates. Right next to the bus station with 10 min frequency Great views but be sure to ask for room with a view On site restaurant, bar and cafe are good. Great views. If you don't want to, you don't have to leave the hotel - there is everything on site. There is a small indoor pool and sauna. 5 minute walk to sandy Illetas beach. Negatives It is in an isolated location so you will need a rental car (10 euro a night for parking or you can risk street parking). No resturants, bars or cafes around. Avoid the rooms next to the pool since the noise of the pool waterfall will drive you crazy (waterfall not turned off at night!) Beach/pool towel serivce costs additional (one time 15 euro fee) AC can not keep rooms cool enoug in July and August. Other times it is OK.
Don't go self catering!!
Before I go any further I would like to state that this review is about the self catering apartments over the road that are owned by the hotel. We booked a studio room which stated that it had two single beds and a sofa bed. Great - we are used to the continent having single beds but not a problem pushing them together to make a double. Imagine our horror when we opened the door to find a sofa bed and bunk beds. The matresses were sooo thin on the sofa bed we had to take the ones off the bunk beds and use them as well! This must be usual practise though as the maids didn't put them back until the day we were to leave. The views of the balcony were not that great - you could just see the sea if you looked around all the other buildings in the way! The apartment itself was relativly clean and up to date (benefit's of the hotel over the road no doubt!), however the fridge door was broken and as it was next to the bed it kept on coming on throughout the night which was quite annoying. There is very few places to eat in nearby however there is a supermarket which will clear you out of your all spending money within two days! The few restrauants that are about a VERY expensive (compared to other resorts), offer the same menu's and are dead as something very dead!! The hotel is on an excellent bus route (Number 3) which can take you to the slightly busier resorts of Cala Major and also into Palma where it terminiates. This bus service puts London bus services to shame! Don't plan to go to Magaluf or Palma Nova by bus as they run every 20 mins and are rammed from the first stop (private bus company!!) . Taxi to Palma Nova is about 15 euro's. Unfortunately this hotel was not what we were looking for as it is very quiet in the area with no noticable night life. The only place you can drink is in the restraunts which don't play music. If your looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this is the one for you - however be warned that what we wanted but this take's it too far! Boarding on boring!!
lovely hotel shame about reception
We stayed in the Hotel which was lovely, the rooms are spacious and spotless! cleaned everyday. The first night we got there and had a really poor room over the games room which is incredibly loud, when we explained this to reception they did move us to a fabulous room the next day after much persuation which had the most amazing sea view, so next time i'd definatley pay that bit extra and get a sea view. The food in the hotel is amazing and great value for money. The staff are all nice, especially the bar and restaurant staff, though reception dont seem to know what day it is, and we repeatley had to tell them when we were checking out after we couldn't get into our room because they thought we'd gone!, they are very unhelpful and just dont seem bothered. But id definatley stay again. Virtual Club is a great restaurant too, left out of the hotel.
Great location and wonderfull for a realxing holiday, even in august!!
Having booked the studio accomodation (across the narrow road from the main hotel) we were pleasantly surprised at the standard of accomodation for the price we paid (£280.00 for 5 nights S/C) Although the hotel is rated as three-four star on various sites this is well acheived in allocating these grades to location and cleanliness in both housekkeping and maintainance of the wonderfull surroundings and gardens albeit the steep steps and slopes one has to ascend and descend around the hotel and infact throughout the resort of Illetas. The hotel staff are extreemly friendly and approachable. We did not dine at the hotel however I would like to comment on several of the local cafes and pavement restaurants( especially Adan y Eva's a short walk away( up and down the hill) which served delicious meat and seafood dishes througout our short stay. Perfect for a relaxing beach holiday with great transport links into Palma and the other coastal resorts- You must try Foxy's Chillout Bar on Magaluf beachfront- fantastic service with very attentative staff and great food. My only neagtive comment would be in relation to the sofa beds and bunk beds in the studios- so unconfortable and definitely not to three-four star standards!! but a small price to pay for the wonderfull sea views we asked for prior to our stay and were offered at check in. Also we were offered room facilities free of charge prior to leaving yesterday evening to shower and change prio to travelling home. Local affordable supermarkets offer the usual essentials at affordable prices and great beach side bars and cafes are well priced for refeshments during the day. I will most definitely return to Illetas and stay at this hotel but across the road where confortable nights sleep would be the icing on the cake. Enjoy!!!
Our vacation was great
We had a wonderful time. We are an active famly with one 11 year old child. There were beautiful views, and the hotel staff was very friendly. When we were there, they had a terrible sewage problem, and the smell was Terrible. We were there for two weeks and the smell would come and go the entire time. Many of the guests with children did not watch their children, and let them run wild throughout the hotel. That was very disturbing to the guests and staff. It was also very dangerous for the children unsupervised with the sea and the pools all around. Many many steps. If you have problems with steps do not stay here. Our legs are now in very good shape :-) I would stay here again.
great location, Average 4star hotel
This is a good quality hotel in a beautiful location. Our seaview room in the hotel had a marble floor, good quality furniture and quiet airconditioning. The view from the balcony was superb but the beds were very small and the bathroom was fine but not luxurious. The food at the hotel was average but the staff were good and there was a beautiful terrace to eat on. The hotel gardens and terraces are excelent but the swimming pools are small cold and deep. In general the hotel suited my wife and I but its location, the small deep pools and many steps would not suit small children or the infirm.
Great location...but hotel could be better
We (parents with 2 toddlers of 3 and 1.5 years old)came back yesterday from the Roc Illetas. The location is beautiful and we had a good time. But this hotel is not child friendly. We had a one-bedroom apartement with a lovely patio facing the sea... but it had no balustrade, so it was too dangerous to let our kids go there. Then, it was hard work to deal with all those steps with a pushchair or get in the lift with it as it was often full of the cleaning ladies'stuff! The previous review is right :it's nearly impossible to ask something at the reception, and when they finally have time for you the information they give is all wrong (for exemple, they have no idea of the opening hours of the so-called supermarket which is just in front of the hotel!). It was past our children's bedtime when we finally got sheets for their cots even though we had called the reception several times. The indoor pool is too cold for little kids and not very clean. Otherwise, the staff (cleaning ladies, waiters...) was very nice and loved kids. There was a great beach about 300 metres away from the hotel (just go down the steps on the right of the building, press the code 2004 at the gate and walk to the right along the sea). And the restaurant (I forgot the name) upstairs on the side of that beach was fantastic : good food, great views and charming owners who are crazy about little kids! Voilà, hope this review will help other families. Even though the Roc Illetas was not perfect, we would go back just for the location and the beach I mentioned. Sorry for my 'bad' English...it's not my mothertongue!
Stay Away
I have just returned from this hotel after 7 nights. It was a total disaster from day 1. The staff at reception are rude and ignorant. Take my advice and stay somewhere else!!! I cannot see how this place got 4 stars? I will list some of the problems encountered. The air conditioning in our room was broken. The bathroom had black stains on the walls and the toilet did not flush. The television was approx. 10 yrs old and the picture was un recognisable (even after it was allegedly fixed). The noise from other rooms was terrible. We spent several nights listening to other peoples conversations and the scraping of furniture. The pools were a joke- The indoor one was tiny and dirty, the ladder was loose and the windows were filthy. The outdoor pool was freezing cold and also tiny. The rooms are not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. They are dated and very basic. Room service does not exist and forget a mini bar. The vending machines were broken throughout our stay. The childrens games room consisted of a pool table and 2 games. The only positive thing going for this hotel is the superb view. Trust me do not go to this hotel expecting to be greeted by 4 star standards.
