My girlfriend and I just got back from our week stay and we were very impressed, easily the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in and it was not too expensive. I've never been all inclusive before so I didn't know what to expect, but I must say we feel we got great value for... more

Apartments are lovely, immaculately clean and spacious with amazing views as most apartments are uphill looking down towards the sea. Lots of different pools and so always somewhere to relax, you can either go down to the busy main pool area where there is lots of... more

We arrived at 3am and had to wait about 5 minutes to be seen at reception, no real problem though. Our room did not have a view to speak of, but I did not request one. The whole place is immaculate, management expects high standards from the staff and the staff deliver. The... more

We travelled last May with 2 children (boys aged 13 & 9) with Medhotels: 1 week all inclusive. Generally we really enjoyed the holiday and as we have often found, reviews and ratings are often irrelevant as a holiday can be affected by all sorts of things including the... more

amazing sunsets
Our stay at the Aegean View Hotel was some experience! The time of arrival was late at night and we actually had no idea of where we were and how big the hotel was. Hotel is not the right word, becuase when we opened our eyes the next day, we realized it was a sweet park, green, flowery, houses everywhere with terrace or balcony and large swimmingpools with sunbeds surrounding it. Most of all the view from our balcony and that of the poolbar is breathtaking. Kos town lies on the foot of this "Mount Olymp" (our nickname for the hotel and it's owner "Zeus"). Turkey opposite and it seemed so close... The sunsets! We will miss those especially. The staff is friendly, helpfull and we had so much respect for them in this busy period. Also we had a nice surprise when we were offered a boattrip by the hotel. "This year they started it and people just love it" is what the owner said to us. So we participated and he was right! We loved it too! We thank the Aegean View for making our stay such a pleasant one and wish other people equally the same. Harold and Stephanie
dave and kerrys holiday at faulty towers
we have just returned from two weeks of so called all inclusive but somehow spent 1200 pounds.our two teenage boys daughter and granddaughter were looking forward to all the snacks available eg chips pizzas hot dogs hamburgers salads kebabs toasties ice creams plus others as advertised in the brochure but had to make do with dry cheese toasties or a two inch hot dog.the apartment was like an old shack and very shabby. there were no plug in the sink or bath, the water went offf at least ten times between 6 and 8pm. the electric was also off as many times. on reporting these faults to reception it was if we were wasting there time.the pool table was broken for the full two weeks we were there and there is no greek taverna as stated on the website, our rep informed us they had used it to extend the dining room.the place was full of ants they were all over the apartment. we have been on package holidays for the last 22 years and never complained until now we certainly will not be going back.
TRIED AND CERTAINLY WOULD NOT RETURN
Julie from Manchester stayed for 2 weeks with my husband and 5 kids aged 18, 16, 15, 10 and 5. Where do I start BAD POINTS 1. Rooms up on an incline, 2 flights of steps and very knackedered when having to go up to the rooms (Make sure you dont forget anything) 2. Food appauling, same rubbish that was not edible even to my husband who is not at all picky, cost a fortune to eat out which is defeating the object when you are all inclusive. 3.Beach was pebbles and stones so unless you wear wellies then cut feet are to be had, the beach bus is a mini bus. 4. Miles from anywhere so in order to eat a decent meal it cost 16 euros a time. 5. Owner was the most ignorant, nasty and nasty piece of work you will ever come across. 6. Thousands of ants in both rooms, when reported was given a spray to do it ourselves, GOOD POINTS 1. Animation team were great, friendly, pleasant and funny given the fact they were working with minimul equipment e,g props etc 2. Majority of the workers were friendly even though they were being treated like 2nd class citizens by both the owner and the germans. 3. Rooms were cleaned daily I know this sound very negative but I can only speak the truth, we enjoyed the overall holiday but that was due to the people we met and the animation team, without that I would most defenitely have booked into somewhere else or got a flight home.
Great value for your money!!!!! Great resort
I was very glad that we first booked our trip and THEN went reading the reviews, some of them quite negative... The location is great (uphill) and that's why you get the "Aegean view" : you wake up and go to your balcony ( every acommodation has one) and have a beautifull view of the Aegean see, Turkey and Kos city from above..just great. Big, comfortable and modern accommodations( two rooms, bathroom, a hall and big balcony), with a fridge, a modern air-conditioning with remote control and sattelite television . Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, 2 barbeque/buffet dinners per week by the swimming pools... Food was ok, no 5 stars but what you want for the budget? Lots of choice of meat, vegetables and dessert... (well, i'm talking about now- july 2007 and have no idea who things were back in 2006...) Good staff, helpfull, hard-working and simpatic. Beside the main swimming pool complex, around the cocktail bar, where you can get your beverages, tosties, cakes, hotdogs, ice-cream ( all inclusive), the resort has more swimming pools spread around it, we had one very close to our accommodation, no bar, but very private and no children.. I can go on and on, but i'll just finish saying: AEGEAN VIEW Resort is a great value for your money!!! Ok, some cons: The Hotel has a mini-van that takes you 3 times a day the Hotel beach, wich one is quite lousy with a lot of stones...Just walk 100 meters toward Kos and you find better beaches but anyway the best beaches are located on the other side of the island, really great...So dont hang all the time around the Hotel and Kos-city, just rent a car and explore the Island..It is more than worthwhile!!! P.s.- somebody even complained about the fact of toilet paper not going down, while the first thing they warn you about when you arrive in Kos is NOT to throw toilet paper in the toilets, but in the special compartiments placed for this purpose, because of the weak draining system of the island...some people should think twice, before writing reviews..... P.s.2- The bus to Kos city costs 90 cents and takes no longer than 10 minutes, after 11 pm there are no more buses to the hotel, but the taxi costs 8 euros....you can also rent a small car with airco from 30 to 35 euros a day( around 40 euros if you rent just for 1 day) and that's great to explore the whole island..... Btw, we arrived at kos on 19 july, stayed 8 days and didn't see even one MOSQUITO!!! Maybe we are just lucky....
good value no way
just returned from two weeks at the aegean view,i went with my wifeand three daughters aged 17,9 ,3 theaccomadation was nicely furnished but we had to flush the toilet by putting our hand in the tank we reported it countless times and were just ignored, even the cleaner seemed disgusted nothing was done,All the staff were english speaking and very friendly and helpful the owner was not a nice person towards his dedicated staff and he did not mind showing them up infront of guests, the swimming pools were nice but had too much chlorene put in them and sometime made our eyes sting, the food was average there was no variation it was pork every lunch and dinner and was very very fatty and the chips were very hard although the sweets were very gud, there was no childrens menu apart from supposedly chicken nuggets which were horrible, none of us are fussy eaters but had to eat out as the smaller children weren;t eating, the hotel was in a rural isolated location, the nearest shop was 3 kilometres away either by a bus which came every hour or or a taxi which was 8 euros one way, the entertainment staff wre very nice people and did very well at what they did with very limited props, wed and sat night was buffet time round the pool terrace all they did was bring the food outside from inside and you queued for about an hour not nice at all,we wont be going back.
Good value shame about the location
The only let down of this hotel is the location, it is pretty rural, but there is a bus service to Kos town for 90 cents per person or the hotel runs a free bus 3 times a day to Paradidsi. As for cleanliness it can't be faulted, the management set and maintain high standards for the staff. All rooms are immaculate, but this is to be expected in a relatively new establishment. There are 5 outdoor pools to choose from and 1 indoor pool. The bar is located next to the main pool area. One gripe about the bar is that they serve the beer in small plastic cups during the day, and small glasses during the evening, so plenty of trips to the bar. Also neither the beer or the spirits are exactly strong, good or bad thing? It's up to you. They are drinkable however. The food is pretty good, mainly Greek cuisine, the meat is cooked superbly, whether it be chicken, pork, beef or lamb. One occassion I tried Moussaka.........superb!!! they also have chicken nuggets and fries available for kids. My wife can be fussy about her food, but never once struggled to find a meal to enjoy. The poolside snacks however are limited to toasties or small hot dogs, also a small selection of biscuits and cakes. The entertainment team were excellent, the programme starts at 10:30 am with aqua aerobics, then various games through the day including Boules, darts, water polo etc...... The water polo is played slightly away from the sunbed area so that no one gets hit by stray shots as I've experienced at other hotels. The evening starts with a childrens mini disco, nursery rhymes mainly, then various more grown up entertainment but all in good taste. Don't expect to see many British here as the hotel is not in any of the brochures in the U.K. ......in fact there were only 2 other British couples there during our stay. The rest were predominantly Dutch, who were brilliant company. One more point, the hotel shop is marvelous value for money, Tee shirts for 7 euro, bottle of wine between 3.5 & 6 euro. Large tins Amstel 1.35 euro I could go on but you get the point Would we go back? No, but only because of the location, otherwise we would have no hesitation if only for the sunsets.
Aegean View so many changes
Last year we stayed at the Aegean View Hotel and we were pleasantly surprised when we come back this year with so many changes. They have a very nice new SPA complex, indoor and outdoor swimming pool. It's an all inclusive hotel, very convenient for most of residents. Animation Team supplies guests with fun and sport games, like water aerobics, or theatre shows. We had no boring day there. Staff is very helpfull and pleasant at all times. Room standard is very good, all air conditioned with TV and telephone. The highest standard of hospitality provide Suites equipped with jacuzzi. We stayed here 2 weeks and we had a great time. Especially the staff of the kitchen should be complimented. Compared to last year the buffet has increasingly improved
Variety at the Aegean View is not the spice of life
If you have booked to stay at the Aegean View then dont stay on an all inclusive basis. Whilst all food was edible, there was absolutely no variety. Here is a shortlist of foods available: Breakfast: Watermelon Salad Scrambled Eggs Bread and Butter (and a toaster) Boiled eggs Bad greek bacon Grilled Tomato & Cheese Lunch: Watermelon Salad Bread (No Butter - take sone from Breakfast if you need it as there is a fridge in your rooms). 1 vegetable choice Spagetti tomato pasta sauce Chips Chicken or Pork Jelly for dessert. Dinner: Watermelon Salad Bread no butter (hope you stole some from breakfast) 1 Vehetable choice Tortellin Cheese Pasta Sauce Chips 1 Greek Dish Chicken or Pork Creme Caramel like dessert. As you can see there is a clear pattern and obviously a butter shortage exists in Kos at present. All food was OK and you wouldnt starve, however after 3 days you would sell your soul for something different to eat. Our holiday cos6t in total £300 each so we didnt expect that much, and had a fun time as we decided to eat out every evening in Kos town which cost only 7 Euro's by Taxi each way and 20 Euro's would feed you very well, and plenty of choice around. in closing, we had a good holiday but the staff were not particularly friendly to the english, as mainly a dutch hotel, with the exception of the cleaners who were always polite and did a great job. The hotel itself was well maintained in public areas, good pools (although very cold) and no choice in the restaurant. And the entertainment is pretty poor if you dont plan to go out much as they play Bingo every night from 9.30. Its cheap and cheerful and you make your own holiday so i suggest if you are going be prepared to eat out at night.
Pleasant Surprise
We have just returned from a two week stay at this hotel. Having read some of the reviews (after I had booked) I was a little worried and had even tried changing the booking but in the end to save the hassle we went. What a pleasant surprise, from the moment we arrived which was about 3 am Greece time, when we were greeted by Mike the night receptionist things only improved. Our hotel room turned out to be a spacious chalet type unit. My daughter and her friend had twin beds in a mezzanine area above the entrance which meant when they came in at 7 am in the morning after clubbing we did not get disturbed. I had expected to be crawling over them when we got up! Our particular group of chalets had magnificent views over the Aegean towards Turkey. The chalet was spotless and fresh towels were provided every day. We always had hot water and our only complaint was the Greek plumbing system which can't cope with toilet paper. However you get used to this. The vast majority of the residents were from Holland, followed by Germany, we rarely heard an English voice, so be prepared for that but we found most Dutch under the age of 50 had excellent English and we were able to chat (as usual the English abroad struggle with other languages!). The hotel sits high in the hills above Kos town and all the chalets are scattered around the main part of the hotel which consists of reception, buffet style restaurant, interconnected swimming pools and small shop. Bikes and scooters are available for hire at reception. We found the food excellent but if you don't like Greek food then there isn't much of a choice although there was always chips, fish fingers and chicken nuggets for the children. I have to say my daughter and her friend were getting very tired of the food before the two weeks were up. However that said they were very picky. There were two bbq nights per week which were excellent with plentiful chicken and pork available. There is a bus service into town in the mornings and evenings which takes about 10 mins. The hotel has its own mini bus which is free and takes you down to the private stretch of beach belonging to the hotel where there are free sunbeds and umbrellas. Please note this is a pebble beach. However this is quite a small area so in the height of season I could imagine that you would struggle to get a sunbed. The hotel is in its first year of being all inclusive so I am sure some things will change, there is a huge amount of building about to be started over the winter months which will provide up to 30 additional chalet units with shared pool areas. On the whole an excellent hotel and a very good find.
Views , setting and genuine hospitality
Accept with good grace the rustic accommodations (I was going to say Spartan - sorry) and in particular the Western Med querky plumbing - and savour an establishment with the best views, the most beautiful setting and the most genuine hospitality I have experienced. Not only did they spoil the kids rotten - but we felt quite special too! It makes the difference between another good holiday in the "Med" and a really memorable one! This is one the tour operators have not got at ..and spoiled. June 2005
