The hotel was lovely. There were a few members of staff that were very helpful and we loved how they made swan towels and sprinkled rose petals on the bed.
We thought the tours were a total rip off. You are paying for a taxi driver, not a tour. We wanted to go on a guided tour of the desert and the guy booking it was trying to send us on a trip with one of his friends and 3xtimes the price than a proper guided tour. It was only when we refused that he said there was a coach tour available. This really left us with a bad taste.
As for Tunisa as a whole, there is a major problem. The merchants. They were unbearable. I expect some pushing selling but not like this. Everyone we met complained about it. When you left your hotel to go into the walled city, it was so imposing and intrusive. The were literally taking your hands and trying to drag you into the restaurants. The worst part was that everything they were selling was extremely overpriced, even after bartering them down, and very badly made. Everything that I have bought, fell apart within 2-3 wearings. This included handbags, shoes and sunglasses.
We will never return to Tunisa, and think the hotel should do something about the aggressiveness of the merchants outside their hotel. It made us not want to leave the room.

Beautiful Hotel/apartments. Friendly staff (even friendlier with a few of your dinar in their pocket). If you haven't got a brass neck and thick skin don't venture out of the medina. Remember, this is pretty much a third world country.
Don't go there expecting to find a Mcdonalds as you won't find one here. The food in the hotel restaurant is first class, go full board, you won't be sorry. The food in the restaurants elsewhere in the medina is a bit hit and miss. Basil seems to be a very popular spice, and everything must have it added. But I say again, the food in "Tunisian restaurant" (the hotel's own restaurant) will save your life and you'll be glad you got full-board.
The pool is spotless. The rooms are spotless. Don't tip too much. 1 dinar to carry your bag. 200millimes when the waiter brings your drink. Get a taxi to the marina -2dinar + 400millimes tip. Your room cleaner - 1 and half dinar on pillow every day. (you'll thank me for that one).
I'd recommend going during Ramadan. You'll find it hard to get any good cafes open outside the Medina, but it's a lot easier to run the gauntlet of the shopping arcade ("come into my shop, make me happy, cheaper than Asda") without a drunken Tunisian manhandling you1
All in all a great hotel and surroundings. If I went again, I’m sure I’d enjoy it more. One last tip -when your rep tells you to only book tours with them, heed the warning, unless you have bottomless pockets and a few Kleenex. Thanks for reading, and I hope my advice helps.

The best holiday I have ever had, stayed in port El Kantaoui before and Hammamet was way better. The Medina was excellent. Had all we needed and wanted.
We went on a trip to the Sahara with Panorama and everyone on the bus kept asking what's the Medina like? they were so jealous. Most of their hotels were nothing like the Medina.
There are hotel staff everywhere all the time which gives a sense of security, lifeguards are hot and always on duty! Pools are fab... always taxis around, nothing to fault except the hassle given by the market people 'come and have a look' the only way to get rid of them is; when they ask are you Irish, English or Scottish??? Turn around and say 'I'm Venezualan or Japanese'..they will leave you be then!
Everyone is great crack over there..AND ITS SOOOOO CHEAP, go to La Boulabbasse restaurant across the way from Bravo's supermarket...the steaks are immaculate and cost around 7 euro each. Come on like! Have a great hol...I did!

Amazin!!! This hotel offers everything within the walls of the medina. The hotel swimming pool was clean and quiet with pool side service. The staff were great help and friendly. The shopper owners within the medina were pushy but by the end of the week we had grown a very thick skin. They have a habbit of targettin us women to get us into shop, but they soon knew i wasn't having any of it! The food was very italian based, but there are so many pubs and eateries to chose from. Its a very big smokin culture too, and you will see many of the men around the tables smoking the pipe- its only tabacco don't worry! The marina is worth the walk, and the beach is just about 200 metres, with residence having there own section. The water sports at the beach are good fun but be warned don't book any tours with operator- RIP OFF!! you can't give the money away its so cheap so feel free to spend a little and live a lot! ENJOY!!
