great
from baptistbev
just returned from 1 week went with my husband, son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren aged 3 and 10 months. hotel was great we were up-graded to an apartment as they did not have our booking but this was done very quickly even bringing a cot within a few minutes. Very clean maids in each day, plenty of hot water, food was fantastic, shell fish every day, fresh meat being cooked in front of you, steaks, pork chops, fish. lovely salads, breads, fruits. Fresh foold always being brought out right up to closing time. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool on the smallish side but very close by the aqua park this was great, pleanty of sun beds these were not unlocked until 9am each day. The only negitives are there should be more seating outside the bar in the evenings there is plenty of room and more self-service drink areas such as reception as during the day you can only get drinks hot or cold from the bar by the pool. They did great snacks here during the day. Weather was good but sun did not come out until 10ish each day. I would definately go back.. Also the design of the hotel was good as you heard no noise in your rooms..
Had a great time

We stayed at the Lago Taurito for 2 weeks. The hotel is in a lovely quiet part of southern Gran Canaria, takes about an hour from the airport, and worth travelling to after passing through the other resorts on the way which looked like Blackpool but with sun. The hotel was lovely and clean, room was also spacous and clean, room was cleaned every day. Food was good with lots of choice for everyone. The Hotel is close to the lovely sandy beach which didnt get over busy, all usual beach activities like jet ski etc. The hotel pool was great with pool bar serving help yourself soft drinks and bar staff serving alchohol ice cream burgers and toasties.Have to get up early to reserve a spot around the pool, towel on sunbeds routine that get unlocked at 9am...even though it states on welcome pack that this is not allowed, but enough room for all. Right opposite the hotel is another pool/waterpark that is free for Lago Taurito guests. The entertainment could be improved, hotel entertainment team are great, freddy in particular, and had 3 activities a day during the day....just some of the visitng shows that are put on are not much good....some are good though. The bar is too small and gets very crowded for the ammount of guests using it and closes at 11pm sharp, bar staff just serve randomly which gets a bit frustrating, longest i waited was 10 mins but that was at 10.45pm. This hotel and the area is more suited for families which was good for us, having two children aged 14 & 11, not much to do after hotel bar closes for couples or singles. We went on a day visit to Anfi which is sort of time share place but they pay for a taxi there and back(15 mins away) provide you with drinks/lunch and ice cream on a lovely resort and you get a 42 euro voucher to use on trips arranged by your holiday rep...just have to get shown around, they try and sell you a timeshare but no preassure , we just said no thanks, got our voucher, got in cab and thanks very much...worth it as they pay for it. I would go back to Lago Taurito as its a lovely clean spacious hotel in a lovely area.
Bed Wars
from BASHHemel
Just back from not a relaxing week only good thing it wasnt 2 . On arrival got told NO!!!! saving sun beds with towels ,OK . Then the rep said NO!!!! saving sunbeads with towels, OK GOT THE MESSAGE. Next morning up and ready for brekky nice and early 9.00 look out to the pool area `NOT A SINGLE BED WITHOUT A TOWEL' and no one to be seen no one having a swim no one having a drink at bar no one walking about.Every day was the same. You know i would not by up to see this but at 930 AM PEDRO AND HIS HAMMER COME OUT TO PLAY UNTIL 530PM every day . Yes there is some building work being done ,well alot of building work infact a new hotel across the road. So no lazzy lay in for you on holiday you could hope to have a peace full evening well not wednesday or saturday , when alive band palys around the pool area. As all room look over the pool area you wont get any peace until midnight. If you are not there early enough you wouldnt get a set any way so you are stuffed . As for the bar the pool bar was ok but closed at 600PM then it the iside bars time to open.We went to the lagon every day alot more room LOADS OF SUN BEDS .The lagon is very nice and free to get in with ticket but not part of all inc. So if you dont want to go back and forth you pay. The bar inside was a total nightmare not enough bar staff or bar space ,so its push and shove all the way cant bet them join them.Everyman for him self ,no chance of getting to drunk as not able to get enough drink in time .Not the type of holiday evening i am looking for .As this is were you get a drink after 600PM the evening bar it gets a bit much of the same thing .Drink in there before dinner ,dinner in resterant then back to same bar for drink after dinner .There is no where else to go and i mean no were .You could get a taxi somewhere but thats not the point of all inc. If you fancy a game of bingo sunday is your night ,BE WARN IT IS CALL OUT 4 TIME ENGLISH GERMAN AND 2 OTHERS ,it take forever.1Euro a card to win a house cocktail and a bottle of bubbly (but its all inc cocktials are free)) ,first prize car rental for a day great if you are leaving monday. Now for the food was going ok until my son bit in to a rew chicken leg ,skin was burnt in side totaly rew .No more chicken then,as that was all he could find he liked chips and roll every day,my girl had pasta sause every day . me i had salad most of the time ,alot to choose from but not at all to my taste .Might be best to start that diet while on holiday. Mostly the hotal was very clean and the maids are EXCELLENT. The bar staff on the whole were ok just over worked. So if you like loud banging early mornings and rew chicken this is the place for you .If peaceand quiet get up when you are ready and good food this is not for you.
Very overrated

Writing a review is difficult as inevitably opinions differ and your experience will depend entirely on how your hotel meets your expectations. I have just returned from 2 weeks in Lago Taurito and found it to be a perfectly normal holiday hotel that meets most basic needs. Those reviewers who have rated it 4 or 5 have probably done so based on their experience and specific expectations. My own thoughts are somewhat different as I am very accustomed to staying in hotels on both business and pleasure and I found the Lago Taurito lacking in several areas. If you are disabled or have young children in prams or pushchairs then perhaps this hotel is not for you. Access to the hotel from reception is via a stairway with a ramp for wheelchairs and prams. This ramp is very steep – an adult in a wheelchair would need 2 people to push them up the ramp and another 2 to come down in order to ensure the chair doesn’t roll away. We had many problems with the elevators throughout our stay. There are just 4 elevators in the hotel, 2 from the reception area and another 2 from the restaurant area (both require negotiating the staircase/ramp). Each pair of elevators is made up of one large and one small elevator. The small elevator is suitable for just a buggy and 2 adults at most. For much of our stay at least one of the elevators were broken – the call buttons missing and wires hanging from the wall well within the reach of children’s fingers. We reported this several times though it took several days to be repaired. As an all inclusive hotel meal times could be fairly chaotic. At first glance the food is perfectly OK and the selection good, though this does not vary greatly from day to day and this became a little boring. Other than salads and a single pasta dish there is little else for vegetarians and unlike similar hotels I have stayed in there were no “healthy eating” choices such as semi-skimmed milk or light cereals. Though some of the food was inedible (undercooked chicken or recycled bits) all in all the food was OK. A good selection of drinks is included with all meals, such as wine, beer, and soft drinks. All are self service. In the morning watered down juice is available as well as awful machine made coffee. The hotel has 2 pools and a Jacuzzi. One small pool is for kids and the other for general use. As is often the case the pool area gets very busy and sun loungers and umbrellas are reserved from early morning. The pool bar provides all the usual drinks plus a limited selection of food and ice-cream made to order. Around the pool are a couple of table tennis tables (€2 to hire equipment) and a sandpit with kid’s playground. The much touted “Lago” is the Taurito Oasis, or pool complex in the middle of the resort. While this is owned by the hotel it is open to the public. Hotel guests have free admission to the pool and all the water rides however lounger mats and umbrellas are €3 each to hire for the day. Your all inclusive deal cannot be used in the Oasis pool therefore any food or drink you get in there you will have to pay for. Inside the hotel rooms are clean if a little rough around the edges. The reception area and restaurant appear to have been remodelled and given a lick of paint, however the rest of the place has not. Facilities in the rooms are good; we had a problem with our air con which was fixed fairly quickly. The resort itself is quite confusing. Why the resort even exists is anyone’s guess; it is tiny! The small bay is encircled by 3 hotels (two 4 star and the 3 star Lago Taurito). Slightly higher up the valley there are 2 or 3 less accessible hotels and another 2 large complexes are under construction (not too noisy). The main issue here is that the resort is only accessible by car or bus. Walks in the evening or to a neighbouring resort or town are completely out of the question. There are probably no more than a dozen shops in the resort selling over-priced gifts, plus a crazy golf course. Evening entertainment is either in the hotel bar (all inclusive drinks until 11pm) or at the outside bar (all inclusive not available). There are certainly no clubs or discos or anything other than low grade family entertainment. To finish off I should point out that during my stay I continually compared the Lago Taurito with the Rubicon Palace all inclusive in Lanzarote where we went the year before. There is simply no comparison. While neither is perfect (what hotel is) the Lago Taurito was only just acceptable as it failed to impress on every level. I certainly would not stay again, and if I were to return to Gran Canaria I would certainly choose another resort such as Mogan or Maspalomas where I could at least take a walk in the evening or go to a bar if the mood takes me.
Fantastic Holiday
from Katie-Bumpkins
I have just returned from a great 2 week stay at Lago Taurito, and was pleasantly surprised. The whole hotel from the appearance to the food was much better than expected. I went with my mum and my two younger sisters (9 and 10). We arrived at around 7:30am and were in our room by 7:40. Our apartment was basic with a little cooking facilities, but we didn’t mind as we went all inclusive and had no need to cook. The options at breakfast are great. There are cereals, fresh fruit, pastries and all you need for a great fry up. At lunch and dinner there were always meats being grilled in front of you. Fish, beef, chicken, Paella and pasta dishes were delicious and all beautifully displayed. There were also our chicken nuggets and chips for the fussy kids. The deserts where amazing. Gorgeous cake, jellies and ice-creams or a healthier fruit salad. The pool was small but this didn’t bother us as there was a small water park inside the resort. There were great slides for all ages. The pool bar was great serving soft drinks, slush puppies, coffee and alcoholic drinks. Tosties, burgers and hotdogs are also served here. The animation team were great. Alberto and Fredy seemed to get a bit more involved that Yasmin. The entertainment each night was great. This was let down by the size of the bar and the lack of seats. There are no bars or restaurants in area. The closest town is a 5euro taxi ride away, so all inclusive is recommended. There is also crazy golf and trampolines which cost 2euros per person. I wouldn’t hesitate in returning to Lago Taurito and had a great holiday.
Enjoyed our stay
from beenplaces0
We stayed 23rd June for a week. Went for a chill out with the family which was exactly what we got. Food fine for a 3 star always plenty of choice couldnt fault in any way. Staff pleasant always said hello bar staff didnt really have time to chat as they were always busy but we never had to wait that long. We didnt find the pool area dirty- if you used the bins they were emptied a few times a day. Quiet resort - enjoyed the mini golf and the lido was good. Beach was never crowded. Puerto Mogan worth the journey- take a taxi- it didnt cost much and was quicker than waiting for the bus. If you can do it go on the Las Vegas night- cabaret, meal and a visit to the casino-very enjoyable. Not much in the way of entertainment for adults but the kids enjoyed the mini disco. First time we have done europe on all inclusive but it was fine. I would recommend this holiday so long as you want it quiet.
AVOID

If you like eating food not fit for animals, being talked too like idiots by the staff then this is the place for you. The pool area hasn't been cleaned from the day it was built, wear shoes! On the plus side, the entertainment is good, and Puerto Mogan is only round a few very sharp corners. Dont waste your money here. Enjoy.......
what a nice surprise

We travelled on the 12th of April for a week with 2 children aged 14 and 10. We had a great time. The area is very quiet and really lovely. The kids didnt want to come home, me neither. Food was very good and we have stayed in a few all inclusives! Room was great, large and clean. Reception was great. The animation team were a little.... well.... dont want to say anything bad because they werent and they were quite smiley but thats about it. Bars do close on time if not a little before and we didnt have any problems with queing. However we did find ourselves dare i say it... adding to the towel brigade uurgh very embarrassing. Well for my husband anyway... tee hee. We would go back
fantastic break

Just got back from a week’s stay at this hotel and was very impressed. It was very clean and staff very nice and helpful. The entertainment team were great and our 2 boys had a fantastic time. It isn't a Brit hotel, mainly Dutch or German but we really didn't mind that. The pool in the hotel is quite small and I imagine in the main season it wouldn’t be big enough, but you had free entrance (if all inclusive) to the very large lagoon area in front of the hotel. This was spotlessly clean and great for kids with the water chutes. Water is salt water and was very cold. The Apartments were basic but had everything you needed. It was good being a family to have a separate bedroom. The food was good. Always something nice to eat. There was a chef grilling fresh fish and meat every night. We booked through Alpha rooms and had a good deal with them. Would definitely go again.
Lago Taurito ApartHotel - Feb 2007
from Lynne&Col-UK
We have just returned from two weeks in Lago Taurito and had a fab time. We have two kids (9 and 6) and all we were really looking for was two weeks of rest and relaxation and entertainment for the kids each evening...we were not disappointed. It's diffcult to find fault with anything on the holiday - if I really wanted to moan all I could come up with is that the maid didn't make the beds for two days out of the 14, there are twin beds instead of a double and there are horrible rubber sheets underneath the bedding. Other than that, the food was good (started to get a bit fed up with it on day 13 onwards), the staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was perfectly acceptable and the kids loved it. The animation team are great. The kids loved the whole holiday - especally the icecream on tap all day! One of the best bits of the whole holiday was the "no smoking" environment in the bars and eating areas. There was a real mix of nationalities - more scandinavians than germans - and all OK. The entertainment was better than expected - again started to get fed up with the "mini disco" by day 12/13 but the kids enjoyed it. The buses are efficient. If you are looking for a (relatively) smoke-free, peaceful holiday without any aggro give it a try!
we arrived very late on saturday evening, on a coach with no rep and a coach driver who could not speak english! the hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms on the 2nd floor, massive balcony just above the terrace which was very nice, the... more
