" Lovely place & hotel "

Stayed here for 2 weeks AI. We are a family with two daughters age 14&11.We were concerned after reading reviews but really there was no need to be worried. The hotel was lovely -very clean- rooms spacious and clean also but beds a little uncomfortable.Food was lovely something to suit everyone- did get a bit repetitive towards end of hol though. I was ill for 24 hrs but rest of family fine. Some of the food was a little under cooked just check it first. Pool was great new sunbeds arrived during our stay and there was plenty to go round. There was always something going on and if you have younger children they can get involved with entertainment team for mini golf, cards etc. Entertainment staff were good-they work hard to keep kids entertained.Night time entertainment wasn't bad at all few good nights- much more than we were expecting. We thought we would use the water park much more than we did as usually we all love water slides etc but it is salt water and our two daughters didn't like it when it got in eyes or in throat (yuck).Puerto Mogan is lovely -good market on fridays and submarine trip is worthwhile. All in all a lovely resort, lovely hotel we would return but do like to try different places and this was our 2nd visit to Gran Canaria stayed in Puerto Rico last time and we must stay Playa Taurito is a much nicer resort.

" Mixture of Pro and Cons "

Having jst arrived bk i would say two weeks at this hotel for young adults, couples and teenagers you will be extremely bored. The hotel was impressive spacious rooms, lovley surrondings but the nightlife entertainment was on the downside and drinks are stopped at eleven for all inclusive and you have to pay after this time. The food was awful same buffet near enough everyday chicken, chips and fish and sometimes it wasnt even cooked properly. My partner and myself would reccomend going to sioux city as an excursion definatly worth the money.
If you are more of a lazy sun person you will definalty enjoy this holiday but if you are a active person i would say get a hotel near puerto rico where there will be plenty more to do.

Advice: Not recommended for young teenagers and young couples

Activities: loro parque, sioux city and aqualand

" Best Holiday Ever!!  "

Me and My Best mate (18 & 20 )decided we where going on a girly holiday , so we booked to stay at the Lago Taurito for 5 Nights All In.
We had been reading the reviews of our hotel and we where dreading what we were going to arrive at, all the reviews were shocking... Welll..... unless they took us to the wrong hotel doooo NOT belive anything bad that is said about this place!! ITS BEAUTIFULL!!
The food was to die for something for every one remeber thou your not in england there was food to cater the whole would not just the british.
The hotel was clean a fabulous reception area , pool wasnt massive but big enough all though a little chilly( and if your ALL IN, The water park is free). Rooms were large and plenty of space plus Amazing Veiws From Balcony of the beach and the staff were soo friendly would help you with anything.
Taurito IS quite ,only 5 hotels in the whole area but you do have the water park few shops and the beach, but on the bus for 1 eruo 20 cent you can get to puerta morgan(Fab market on a friday) , puerto rico and ingles(Amazing night out) .
We booked with thomas cook, they were amazing booked us on lots a day trips and Booze cruises in the next town up from us( playa de ingles a amazing nights out) :)
The whole thing was fab so much fun. weather was amazing. a beautiful hotel i highly recommend it!!

" the best all inclusive "

after reading alot of reviews about lago taurito after us and other family members had booked to go there we were abit worried about what it would be like but kept an open mind. We stepped of the coach and was amazed at the beautifull scenery, pool, shops, beach, tennis courts and crazy golf and that was before we had even walked into the reception (which was stunning). There was us and another family who were checking in and from stepping of the coach to being in our rooms took no more than 20-30mins, the staff were very efficent and helpful. we did have a few issues, one being a big gap on the balcony which my 18month old could quite easily have fallen through and the other being that we requested a low floor and we were on the 7th but as soon as we brought it up with the hotel staff the balcony was secure and my parents moved rooms (it did help that we had a fantastic rep who was on the case to) The food was great every day, yes it was abit monotomous but if you go all inclusive what do you expect, it was made up by the very pleasent staff. The pool bar does offer snacks to so if you dont want to go to restaurant you dont need to.The night entertainment was ok and you do have to pay for your drinks there but you can take your free drinks from the all inclusive bar over instead. A fab holiday enjoyed by all, bearing in mind we were a party of 7 which included a young family with a toddler, a 26yr old and our older parents. would definitely recommend to friends and go back ourselves. would recommend a bus ride into puerto rico and puerto mogan for a change of scenery.

" Watch your wallet at the Playa Taurito! "

Having just returned from the worst holiday we have ever experienced, had to write this review to warn any other travellers of the scam going on in this hotel! We are 2 40+ single males and maybe we looked an easy target! The first evening we got there 3 burly security men and a 'rep??' burst into our rooms demanding that we leave for threatening the manager! we had not even seen the manager!! But here comes the crunch - they could find us alternative accomodation, down the road for an extra 400euros each, or they call the police! Then we went mad and demanded our luggage, then got the next taxi to the sirport for the 1st flight home. Arriving at the airport to pay the taxi, all our money had been taken and our credit cards were in each others wallets, possibly cloned, so we have cancelled all with our banks. Do not drop your guard if staying at this hotel and wedge the door with a chair or something as any member of 'staff' can gain entry with their keycard - you have been warned! We have lodged a formal complaint with Thomas Cook and have spoken to our solicitors, so will post any further details as we get them.

" beautiful but a little quiet "

We stayed here in June and it was glorious, the weather was fab and the hotel was immaculate, The evening entertainment was poor but we still found plenty to do. We went as a couple with our 8 year old and she loved it. The kids were kept entertained and the water park across the road is fabulous and free for lago taurito customers. All in all it a nice break in a gorgeous location in a spotless hotel with very enjoyable food. It was all freshly cooked infront of you with plenty of fresh meat and fish. Very nice!!!

Advice: Visit the water park across the road its beautiful and free

" Fantastic, Relaxing Break "

This holiday was booked as a suprise present for my hubby and before booking i spent ages reading all the reviews for various hotels in the area and must admit was a little put off for the ones on this particular hotel. I booked it anyway as the area of Taurito sounded just what we were looking for.
I was pleasantly suprised when arriving at this hotel. The reception staff where very pleasant and the hotel was immaculate!
I have only ever been on all inclusive holidays and in comparison this was one of the best i have ever been on. The room was excellent with a nice full size lounge/kitchen a bedroom, bathroom and a double balcony (with Sea view)
The only down side was the beds, these were twin and not the most comfortable.
The food was excellent. In all the all inclusives i have been on, food is recycled. When catering for that many people it goes without saying that you will have veal one day and then veal casserole the next.
The food was very varied and with me being a fussy eater i managed to find something to eat every day. All of the food tasted good and had flavour which is very unusual for an All Inclusive hotel.
This is a SPANISH island. Their local meat is Veal, Pork and chicken, if you want local english dishes, GO TO ENGLAND!!!
We heard a couple compaining about the food and was shocked. The hotel cater for all nationalities, not just english, so yes there were cooked meats at breakfast (as well as the whole cooked breakfast) as not every country has a full fry up in the morning.
The only downside for us although this wasnt a problem as we didnt go there often, was that you have to pay for your drinks in the entertainment area. You can carry your drinks from the hotel but it was a bit of a walk everytime back to the bar. However we just sat chatting in the bar of an evening so this wasnt an issue for us. But for families it could be a pain.
All in all this hotel was an amazing place and excellent for people looking for a nice relaxing holiday. Beautiful island, and a beatiful setting.
Bus journeys are very cheap (as long as you remember to get off at the right stop!)
Would also recommend the combo tour, which was a dolphin watching boat trip, camel trek and an offroad safari.
This was such a fun day out!!! do not wear your best clothes though!!!
Highly reccommend to anyone!

" pleasantly surprised "

Just wanting a relaxing holiday in the sun but with my fussy high standards was dreading what we would find at the Jotel. Much to my surprise it was very clean, the food was fresh and plentiful, the staff were all friendly, the grounds were really pretty and well kept and the sun was gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are contemplating booking for another week's getaway in Oct at the saem resort. And that's never been known of me, I usually find something to moan about. lovely hotel!!!!!!

Advice: That it is relaxing, not too noisy and wonderful weather

Activities: Peurto Mogan is absolutely beautiful, really nice day out!!!

" Lago Taurito "

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys. Mum and Dad wanted a "chill-out" week in the sun. Having visited and toured Gran Canaria before, we had no intention of doing any trips or hiring a car etc.
The hotel was very clean and rooms spacious. The kids were "next door but one" so the hotel did not quite manage to fulfill our only special request (adjacent rooms) prior to departure.
We found the beds too firm and resented having plastic mattress protectors - we've all passed that stage! One pillow was inadequate too.
There are no drink making facilties in the rooms but there is a fridge and safe which you have to pay a daily charge for. Hair dryers have to be hired from reception.
All rooms 3rd floor and up have pleasant views of the resort and ocean.
The buffet food was not stunning. The meat was generally too "fatty" for us, but we always found something we could eat. It's a shame that the apparent wide choice actually proves so limited to British tastes at least.
If you want to eat out then you wouldn't go all inclusive, but there is nowhere at Taurito. It's a case of either catching the bus into Puerto Rico or Puerto Mogan.
Staff ranged from indifferent to quietly friendly. Day time snacks from the pool bar were OK if uninspiring.
The hotel pool itself is quite small so serious swimmers need to use the lido which was extremely quiet over the school half term week. You can take drinks in from the hotel but it's obviously not as convenient as the hotel pool.
The evening entertainment (shared with other hotels) is open-air and if you want any peace prior to 10.30pm then you need to be in a room furthest away from the noise e.g. on the 4th floor, a lower number than 420.
The main problem for us was the lack of facilities for teenage kids especially in the evening. Our 2 boys were bored.
Overall, the holiday would have been fine for Mum and Dad just wanting to totally chill, but bored kids can be a pain....

" Don't be fooled - it could be worse "

We stayed here from 13/12/08 to 20/12/08 and after reading the reviews we were relieved to find that the place wasn't that bad.
It was clean, tidy and modern. It is a lovely resort and only 15 mins on the bus (1 euro 20 cents) to Puerto Rico (or taxi is about 10 euros)
The weather was fab for the time of year and we have boked to return on the 14/12/09 for a week.
The all inclusive and the meals are as you would expect, we found nothing under cooked and there was plenty of selection. Bearing in mind we are a picky party (1 vegeterian and 2 none pork eaters) we found all the food to our satisfaction and there was ample choice. The restaurant was clean, spacious and the staff were very good.
All the rooms are facing the sea and the lido (which is very nice & allows the evening sun nicely!
The only flaw we could find was the evening entertainment (it was ok, but not brill) and the bar staff were miserable!
All in all a lovely hotel, lovely location and we are going back...

Advice: very quiet and the sun is on you all day

Activities: go in to Puerto Rico for anight out

" great hotel "

spent 2 weeks here start of september.only fault i could find was evening entertainment which was rubbish.all staff (cleaners, reception and bar staff)were friendly and helpfull.mark the airtours rep took time on many occasions to ask if our holiday was going ok and did we enjoy our excursions.if we go back to gran canaria we would def consider this hotel again.

" lago taurito is a very good hotel to... "

lago taurito is a very good hotel to stay in, the resort is a very small one and was quite quiet but that is what we were looking for in a resort and hotel, before going we read other reviews and it was true that the hotel has alot of families in it and so entertainment does cater for children alot more but that is understandable with the customer base. the only thing i would say i was dissapointed in was the size of the pool, it was very small and although the waterpark was only opposite the hotel it was a salt water pool, i was also dissappointed that the picture shown on most of the websites for the pool is not actually the hotel pool but the waterparks pool, this was a little decieving. other than that the resort and hotel were very nice, the food was lovely and the staff were all very helpful.would definately reccommend this resort and hotel.

" I have just returned from a week at... "

I have just returned from a week at the Lego Taurito Hotel..and So glad we didnt have to stay another week!.Amazing weather a plus,but..where to start..A family geared hotel as their was No ADULT entertainment, and all the night life was a 20min Taxi ride of a cost of £12 Euro's each way..The All Inclusive stops at 11pm.The Food was appauling as the chef who was cooking chicken one night served it almost RAW,When we showed the manager and complained he said it was ok he would cook some more(special).sorry but this was Dangerous!.I came home and have lost half a stone!.We asked for some coffee one night it was just after 11 and they charged us £8Euro's! £6!!Also i think a ban should be made on people putting towels on sunbeds as we had some very rude guests who would leave them overnight!.The Beds were very hard and uncomfortable, you had to pay for a TV Remote! oH If you go on any trips beware as we booked with ON THE BEACH and we weren't even given a tour opperator so had to find out stuff for ourselves and we were ripped off,a so called Lunch on the boat was a stale roll which we fed to the fish!!And all the water sports were very expensive!.Im also glad it was just a week as we flew with XL Airways and would have been stranded..ohh one big mention BEWARE..Luggage.we had to pay £25 each as we were over 15kg and we were delayed for 4 hours and had no money for a drink!!Hate on the beach!!

" Arrived here at about 3am, excellent... "

Arrived here at about 3am, excellent looking hotel friendly reception staff and quickly allocated our room. Buffet was laid on for the guests who arrived during the night, which was a nice gesture and very welcome.
ACCOMODATION
Couldn't fault it, very spacious with a large balcony, rooms cleaned regular.

POOL AREA.
Nice pool cleaned regular, a little small for the amount of guests that are in the hotel, the pool bar is open from 10am till 6pm serving Beers, Wines, Spirits, Ice cream, hotdogs and burgers, Soft drinks are also available which is a self serve( Coke, Fanta, Lemon, Sprite) tea and coffee also available.
Around the bar it tended to smell a bit and looked a little dirty on the floor area around it, again all staff friendly.sunbeds and parasols available, usually from about 9am onwards, the maintenance guy stacks and locks them up for the night ready for cleaning in the morning. there was always plenty to go round so no real rush to get one.

RESTAURANT/FOOD
Now then, i've been on plenty all inclusive holidays and i am sorry to say that this one was the worst for food of all of them, Pork chops, and chicken almost every day, lasagne, pasta dishes, fish, beef, fruit. The variety was definatley there, but the food was never, ever hot, always luke warm to cold, chicken and pork chops often undercooked, beef was fatty. A disappopintment really.

ENTERTAINMENT
I cant speak for the younger childrens entertainment as my children are 18 and 11 so i dont know what was available for the younger ones.
There wasn't alot for my 11 year old to do except for water polo every day at 3pm and volleyball in the pool at 3pm for the older ones, there was also archery, rifle shooting and darts for the adults.
The night time was a big let down, there is only one bar for the whole of the hotel at night, the entertainment is indoors and there aren't enough seats to fit everybody in.
They did a mini disco every night for the young ones and then the entertainment which lasted for approx 45 mins, Shows included, owl show, parrot show, reptile show you get the picture.
The bar closed at 11pm and that is it, no more drinks available, although certain nights they did let you purchase drinks after this time but not every night.

COMPLEX AS A WHOLE
Supermarket, massage, hair salon, gift shops, small gym, clothes shop, mini golf, water park which was free to all all inclusive guests. there is building work going on about 120 metere opposite the hotel, although it was very noisy when we were there, i think the bulk of the machine work was coming to an end so it shouldn't spoil your stay.

BEACH
Small beach, black sand, water sports available although a little pricey, 50euro's for 20 mins on the jet ski's.

TRIPS OUT
Mogan is a 5 minute taxi away, nice picturesque fishing village with a market on a Friday
Puerto Rico is about 10 mins away in a taxi, livelier here if your after a late night.
we did the jeep safari which was ok for a day out, nice scenery, can get very dusty.
also did the timanfaya galleon trip, Its a boat trip from Puerto Rico and sails to Mogan where they anchor up and let you swin in the sea, you have lunch and play games on board, another good day out if you want to escape the hotel for a day.

SUMMARY

Relaxing holiday, with nice accomodation and staff, could do with a good all round general clean outside of the hotel, and improve the food.
Wouldn't come again to this hotel.

Please take into account that these are our personal opinions, if you have booked you will enjoy it but these are what let it down for us

" Well what can i say, I was a little... "

Well what can i say, I was a little worried about the mixed reviews but that was unfounded. We arrived at the hotel at midnight thirsty and hungry. We checked in and to our relief we had a meal of fruit and rolls wrapped up in clingfilm which was laid on for the people who got to the hotel late with us.I have stayed all inclusive before but have never had a meal saved for our arrival. We thought the reception was bright and airy.We had a stroll around to see what was around. The beach was lovely but the current was quite strong and the sand was dark, the foot fountains werent working though to wash our feet!!We spent alot of time in the waterpark which was free to all inclusive guests. We had meals and drinks in the hotel and went to water park for a mess about,we felt that the water park was very clean but got very busy at weekends.

We couldnt fault the food there was plenty for everyone but after a week it became pretty much of the same.Once we had our evening meal there wasnt alot to do.
My children are 16 and 13 so they just hung around with kids they met.The hotel laid on its entertainment but it was usual parrot shows etc......

We went into Puerto MOgan a beautiful fishing village for a change, it was absolutely stunning, we went by taxi which was about 6 euros each way.Well worth the visit. The staff were very helpful and courteous to us.Crazy golf on an evening was a good laugh but it was very hot during the day.
Our last day we had to vacate the room at 12pm but our flight was 11.20pm, but we were able to use a room to shower and change.
I would go back again without the children as there was not enough for them to do.
