hi
just got back today from a lovely stay at this hotel was a bit upset by some of the reviews on here but now i know not to beleive most of what is writen. the hotel was brilliant for the money you pay for it well worth it. we were picked up by a mini bus first to be dropped off which was great and arrived at 2pm in time for dinner. greeted by friendly helpful staff on reception and the cleaners greeted us too.every thing was made easy and explained well. rooms were smashing sea view and pool view. large balconey plenty of room for a family of four in a family room. setting was peaceful and beautiful really relaxing. yes there was alot of kids but it is a family hotel what more can i say. the pool bar was open 10-6pm bar staff were lovely they did get frustrated as i would with some arrogant people but i couldnt blame them. no long wait for meals or drinks few minutes unlike england. the food was good for a 3 star hotel something for everyone. there was one bar outside got busy as thats where the entertainment was but you could still get served within minutes. the animation team was fantastic trying to get everyone involved. the night time entertainment was mini disco for kids which my baby loved especially brucie the tiger. the shows were done by the animation team corny, funny, laughable, enjoyable and mesmerising would cover all of them. one night there was one theme burn the stage fire act really well produced they worked their socks off. the weather was fantastic too well over 35c loads of sunbeds yes sometimes towels on them but hey we were up for breakfast anyway at 8am. from start to finish we were made to feel very welcome and will definately be going back as soon as i can. please dont be put off by other peoples crude unfair remarks. if you have booked this hotel then have a great time make your own mind up and have a relaxing time like we had. thanksx

We arrived at the hotel about 1 or 2 in the morning with a friendly welcome, the rooms were nice, but the beds were a little uncomfy but you got used to it.
Food
The food was good the first week, then it just got boring the second week, but it was reasonable.
Staff
The staff were realy kind, Lucy and Mike were realy good to everyone, the only bad thing was some of the barmen at night were quite grumpy.
Entertainment
The entertainment was ok ive seen worse and better, the bar at night was very busy as there is only 2 or 3 barmen on the bar, there is 2 barmen that are very nice one is called luis and there is another young man who is kind aswell
Daytime Activities
The daytime activites entertained you, there is lots to do for kids like darts ping pong water polo and lots more and also the adults, shooting, archery, waterpolo and bowls
this hotel was very good and i am defiantly coming back

My wife and I have only yesterday returned from a week all inclusive at this hotel. We both found it to be very disapointing on most counts. We were firstly told by the operator that this was a 4 star hotel, its not, its a 3 star and even this rating is questionable!
The hotel 'restaurant' is more like a large factory canteen and its guests are treated more like cattle, hearded in and out as quickly as possible. The food although plentyful was not varied and often the lunch left overs were re heated and put back out for evening dinner. As if this wasn't bad enough, the staff were so keen to heard you through as quickly as possible, our cutlery and plates were being cleared away just as the last spoonful entered your mouth! On more than one occasion as my wife and I were serving ourselves at the buffet for our sweet course, on returning to our table to find that our drinks and our napkins etc had been cleared off the tables...We were never made to feel relaxed and welcomed during any of our meal times, in fact it made us feel 'in the way'...not a pleasurable dining experience!
A shame that the hotel staff were not so keen to clear the poolside tables so eagerly, dirty plates and cups were left for 2 days and thus infested with ants.
The hotel itself is generally tired looking and in need of an over-haul. The beds were uncomfortable with springs sticking through the mattresses and the bedding was of very poor quality. Its also the only time that i've ever been expected to pay a deposit for a TV remote control unit for our room. The one and only swimming pool is very small and falls way short to facilitate to the size of the hotel and therefore was often over crowded, most of the time with hundreds of screaming children. The hotel was often noisey, morning noon and night....we were woken up on numerous occasions at 2 or 3am with screaming children running up and down the corridors and slamming doors, this is NOT a place to go to relax and chill out quitely. Although the Taurito cove itself is advertised as a relaxing area with not much to do but chill out...the Lago Taurtio is NOT the hotel to provide it!! Do yourself a huge favour, avoid this hotel at all cost and book into the Hotel Princess opposite, its so much nicer!!
- Advice: Nothing....unless of course you enjoy being treated badly on your well earnt holiday!!

My friend and I booked this hotel for a warm, sunny and quiet relaxing holiday. That is exactly what we got!
The complex is great, very clean and friendly people.
The hotel was very clean and also spacious room with the biggest balcony I have ever had. It came with a 'partial sea-view' but this was still spectacular. The moonlight shining on the sea in the evening was breathtaking.
The food was plentiful, delicious and a good variety.
The bay is surrounded by rocky hills and the hotels are built into the slope so everyone should get a good seaview.
A frequent(and cheap) bus service takes you to either Porto Mogan to the north. Very pretty, or as far south around the coast road. We went to Puerto Rico for some shopping and caught the glass bottom ferry back.
I managed to leave my keys in the safe and didn't realise this until I was on the plane back home, but helpful staff posted them on to me.
Would definitely recommend this holiday and will return to Lago Taurito.

We were moved here, from a fantastic 5 star hotel on the island, due to the ash cloud in April 2010. What a great difference my husband and I experienced ! 3 stars is a very generous rating for this hotel ! The rooms are dated, dreadful bathroom, basic and the beds are very uncomfortable. The rooms could certainly do with a lick of paint. The all inclusive meals were dreadful. Very little choice, all greasy food and the drinks are diluted. We both had stomach bugs as a result of the food. The pools are OK, and great for young families, but if you are given a room on the same floor of the swimming pool then you will have little privacy. There is little to do in the resort about from swim, play crazy golf and bowl. The evening entertainment is OK, but it is loud, childish and tacky. Can become very boring ! The shops in the complex over charge, and the hotel staff are very unhelpful. This was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in, and would not recommend it at all.

Arrived by resorthoppa transport (scenic route) for a 4 night short break, friendly, efficient checkin. Room exceptionally clean, but in need of refurb. Plenty of sunbeds, tho need to get towels out early. Food - something for all tastes. Hotel located in small valley with 3-4 other self contained hotels. Use of lido great idea. Animation geared for families with young children, seemed very hard working. Nini golf and tasteful arcade at extra cost. Beach dark sand (not to our taste). Had geat relaxing time, hence rebooking....

Me, my wife and 8yr old Daughter spent an enjoyable week at the Lago Taurito over the Easter holidays.
The hotel is situated in a nice quiet complex and beach with four or five hotels,a lagoon/waterpark and a couple of shops. With Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogan within easy reach by a regular bus service or taxi.
The rooms were ok and what we expected, we had to change our origional room allocated to us as it did not have a safe deposit box, but it wasn't a problem, and we were moved to a better larger suite. We found all the staff very helpful and pleasant.
My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself and we couldnt keep her away from the Animation team activities. They worked really hard to keep everyone, not just the kids, entertained.
The food was ok, although it was a bit repetative, mainly grilled chicken or pork, but we always managed to find something that we enjoyed.
The Night entertainment is held in an Arena area for the whole complex, so you had to get your drinks from the main bar and carry them out if you wanted to continue with your all inclusive, or you could purchase discounted drinks from the Arena bar.
We would definitely return to this hotel and will recommend it to our friends and family.

Just got back from week at Lago Taurito. Myself, my husband, our 11 year old and my parents. The hotel was clean and spacious, it would have benefitted from a little updating the rooms and reception areas looked a little jaded. Our room was large and well eqipped, we had a fold out bed for our daughter. the view from the balcony was lovely. Shower was large and we had plenty of hot water. Food was fantastic! What a choice for every meal, cereals, fruit, bread, cheese and meats for breakfast. Freshly grilled meat and fish with rices, salads, chips and veg for lunch and a different choice of grills and hot dishes for evening meal. There was usually a pasta dish with a plain sauce so even the fussiest of children do not have to eat chips. The dining area was large and spacious and we always managed to find a seat for 5 of us.
The downsides to the holiday were;not being able to get a sunbed by the pool. These all had towells on before 9am and that you could not take food or drink to your room. It would have been nice to sit on balcony enjoying the evening air with a drink. the entertainment had been moved inside for the season and this meant that the bar was very crowded and hot, we usually found a seat in the large reception area and played cards with our drink - so did not get to see any entertainment - we heard the mini disco each evening - they only knew 1 song I think. The trip on the bus to Puerto Mogan is wel worth it, for 2euros 40 you got a return trip in either direction (Puerto Rico in the other direction) buses ran every 10 minutes or so. We briefly visited Puerto Rico because it was too windy to stay by pool, it was horrible, rows of shops with English bars and restaurants. If you like England with sun go there if not stay away. I was worried about the weather as the forecast gave rain, it did rain three days out of 7 and one evening. When it rains it rains heavily- the hotel was slightly flooded. However it cleared up every day by about 10 and we were back around the pool. The worst thing about the holiday was the transfer time, 1hr on way and 1hr30 on way back and the airport at Las Palmas was chaotic, we queued for ages and barely had time for the toilet before boarding. do not rely on visiting duty free. would deffinately go back for winter sun but not for main holiday as I enjoy having somewhere to stroll to in the evening.

Second time we have been at the hotel all right if your looking for a relaxing holiday which we were. Animation team work very hard and try to include everyone in all the games. This is the first I have anticipated and it is surprising the people you meet by doing this. The hotel put on a lovely gala Christmas & New Year dinner which was spectacular. There was a band playing on New Years Eve which we had seen 2 years previous, It was special and we really enjoyed it. Was sad to leave the warm weather. Carol Billy n Graeme Scotland

Stayed here for 2 weeks AI. We are a family with two daughters age 14&11.We were concerned after reading reviews but really there was no need to be worried. The hotel was lovely -very clean- rooms spacious and clean also but beds a little uncomfortable.Food was lovely something to suit everyone- did get a bit repetitive towards end of hol though. I was ill for 24 hrs but rest of family fine. Some of the food was a little under cooked just check it first. Pool was great new sunbeds arrived during our stay and there was plenty to go round. There was always something going on and if you have younger children they can get involved with entertainment team for mini golf, cards etc. Entertainment staff were good-they work hard to keep kids entertained.Night time entertainment wasn't bad at all few good nights- much more than we were expecting. We thought we would use the water park much more than we did as usually we all love water slides etc but it is salt water and our two daughters didn't like it when it got in eyes or in throat (yuck).Puerto Mogan is lovely -good market on fridays and submarine trip is worthwhile. All in all a lovely resort, lovely hotel we would return but do like to try different places and this was our 2nd visit to Gran Canaria stayed in Puerto Rico last time and we must stay Playa Taurito is a much nicer resort.

we arrived very late on saturday evening, on a coach with no rep and a coach driver who could not speak english! the hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms on the 2nd floor, massive balcony just above the terrace which was very nice, the rooms were clean although very dated and a bit shabby in places, the maid service was not good as they did not come in everyday. You have to pay for the safes in your room very expensive 21 euros for a week. The food was typical of foreign hotels, they try to cater for all tastes which they did although after three days a cooked breakfast did not seem very appealing anymore, chips every lunch and evening, plenty of food nevertheless, always hot and sometimes quite odd - brussel sprouts in cheese sauce?? If you are a family of more than 4 persons DONOT PUSH TWO TABLES TOGETHER, you will get told off and made to feel like a naughty school child!!!! the waterpark was brilliant apart from salt water, yuk!!!! and if your child wears armbands they cannot use the big slides, we were not aware of this also the waterpark is open to the paying public, we were not aware of this either. The evening entertainment was .... very amateur but very funny, very light entertainment. Weather amazing 28 - 30 everyday. The firstchoice rep 'Becci' was good and rushed off her feet managing two hotels. Pool area very busy as the pool is quite small for the size of the hotel, staff friendly (most of them), all in all not too bad a hotel but would not rush to return. I paid four thousand pounds for 3 adults and three children and did expect a bit more, if i am honest.
