Anyone moaning about this hotel is...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr A TRIGG

Anyone moaning about this hotel is too fussy, after reading reviews before we went we were expecting the worse. The food and drink was readily available in the restaurant & pool bar, though it wasn't always hot in the restaurant.
As to the resort location there are only a few hotels in the bay so entertainment was restricted, though it was ok for us, anything else was a taxi ride away. Our party comprised of 5 teenagers, but they seemed enjoy it.
There is a hotel being built across from the lago taurito, you are aware of this, though it didn't really spoil our holiday.
The staff were mostly friendly and helpful especially the bar staff, if you smiled and had a bit of banter with them.
We all enjoyed the holiday and didn't really want for anything, we would return sometime in the future. Beware the Timeshare sales pitch!!!!
Our only gripe is with Thomas Cook, who only informed us of the building work 2 weeks before we went.

Sep 2007, Mrs C Foster

We were all (4 adults and 4 children (5-11)) very impressed with the grand lobby.
The Aqua Park was excellent and they were fine with you going back and forth to the hotel to get use of your all-inclusive deal. There was always plenty of food and drink on offer, but it did get slightly repetitive after a week. But that applies to all buffet style restaurants.
The hotel and rooms were very clean and the staff very friendly.
There is a grey sand beach about 1 mins walk away but we never went there because the Aqua Park was so good.
Entertainment was ok, kept the kids amused and gave us some peace and quiet which was all we wanted.
I would definately go back.

The hotel was clean and the rooms...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, salldavidson

The hotel was clean and the rooms were well fitted out, cleaned every day and the only problem with the room was the aircon was not up to much.
Some parts of the exterior such as poolside and some of the walkways could do with a bit of a clean but nothing major.
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and reception was good. We were all inc and thought the food was excellent, usual buffet style but always a good selection, got a bit repetitive by the end of the fortnight but always something different to try however fussy you are.
Kids club was run by hotel and was a bit hit and miss during the day and the mini disco at night was the same six songs in the same order every night, even the kids got fed up in the end.
Evening entertainment was pretty good, stated with the usual parrot show and bingo but then surprised us with magic act, juggling act which was excellent, Spanish dancing, and some excellent live singing acts.
Place is a bit quiet and if you want any decent shops, clubs, nightlife etc take a bus or taxi to puerto rico(3 euro by bus,10 by taxi) also better beach there as well.
Large pool complex outside hotel is good and if all inc you get free entry.
Only real moan I have is that when we booked with Thomas cook we were led to believe( and some were others so we found out) that stuff like the mini golf course, table tennis, pool, tennis etc was all free if you were all inc.
This was not the case and it was not just a case of leaving a deposit which was returned when you gave back the equipment, you also had to pay for the games which worked out expensive, because of the cost of hiring rackets, table tennis paddles etc most people went to the local shop and bought a cheap set and used them.
Like I said before we enjoyed it, don’t tend to go to the same place twice like to try something different each time, but that’s not to say I wouldn't.

My husband and I go away each New...
6 / 10
Aug 2007, norcy

My husband and I go away each New Year and look forward to our winter break. This is the first 'bad' review we have written - we are not moaning people who expect perfection but have stayed in 3, 4 and 5* hotels. We were expecting more than we got here.
We arrived at 2.20pm to be told our room was not ready and to go and get some lunch, it would be ready. When booked we were told room would be ready at 2pm. We weren't too concerned and went for lunch. When back our room still wasn't ready.
More guests arrived and were sent to rooms but we had to sit and wait. I asked if we could have a different room but had to wait. Eventually they sent us to our room and the maids were still in it cleaning. Not a good start.
The pool is full of kids but there is a higher section where you can sunbathe pretty quietly. That's if you can get a sun bed. The Germans are out in force here, towels on bed at 8am and don't arrive at pool until 3pm some days - this needs fixing. The lagoon area was better but not included in all inclusive.
I found the food pretty awful. It was reused from lunch to dinner, many things unlabelled and lukewarm. As a vegetarian choice was minimal - the veg had chunks of ham in it! I had the same pasta and sauce each day. Breakfast was the best meal but food in general is below what it should be.
Rooms were fine - quite spacious with a good sized balcony. Shower was powerful and hot. No complaints here. The maid service was good, daily and fresh towels in place.
We didn't have problems in the bar, if you're polite and chat to the bar men they will serve you first, if you're rude be warned!
Overall we had an ok relaxing week but nothing special. Mogan is a lovely resort and well worth a visit.

We had a wonderful relaxing 2 week...
9 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss H Woodward

We had a wonderful relaxing 2 week holiday here!
We went on a half board basis but when we arrived we paid 8 euros each to go all inclusive - it was worth it for the nice cold drinks throughout the day.
Wonderful friendly atmosphere and really wonderful holiday.
The reason why I’ve given it 9/10 instead of 10/10 is because the building work was a little disappointing. It’s straight ahead of the hotel and quite clearly not "nearly finished" as the letter from Thomas cook stated the week before we went. It was a little noisy but I can imagine by next year all will be finished and it will be a wonderful place to go for families and couples!!
The rooms were good and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was superb - varied, tasty and plentiful. The pool was clean and the water park was great fun and brilliant because although it looked very busy we always got a sun bed!!
The nightly entertainment was all in the hotel and great for all tastes.

We had a fantastic holiday at this...

Aug 2007, Mrs S WESTGATE

We had a fantastic holiday at this wonderful resort.
We honestly couldn't fault this place - it had everything to make a perfect holiday.
The rooms were good and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was superb - varied, tasty and plentiful. The pool was clean and the water park was great fun.
The nightly entertainment was very varied so that there was something to suit all tastes. The bar staff were great and served us very quickly. There were drinks and snacks served by the pool when the main restaurant was closed between meals.
My three teenage boys had a great time here. Activities such as shooting, archery and water polo were provided in the afternoon for their age group every so often. They enjoyed everything about this place. In fact you could see that people of all ages were having a wonderful time.
There are a lot of other Europeans holidaying there, mainly German, Italian and Spanish, and the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed amongst everyone.
The resort is not too far from the other main holiday spots. I would recommend Amodores beach and Anfi in particular. Puerto Mogan is particularly good in the evening with some lovely bars and restaurants.
We would definitely go again to this Hotel - it's about the best we've been to.

The hotel itself as in the room is...
5 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr L A Williams

The hotel itself as in the room is exactly what you need with a television and decent beds and bathroom. The only problem with the rooms are that there is only 1 English TV channel and it is an American news one. So the TV is pointless.
The bars at the hotel are good but very understaffed.
The restaurant is okay but everything is marinated with some kind of sauce so you have to live with that even if you don’t like it. The chips are reheated throughout the day for dinner and night time meals so they are not fresh and there is not a good enough selection.
The worst part about this hotel is that the entertainment is non existent. There is a mini disco for about 30mins for little kids and after that there is nothing else. Not even as simple as a little bingo or quiz let alone a night club or something.
The hotel is very prioritised towards the Spanish and then to the Germans.

I wouldn’t travel with span air as...
10 / 10
Jul 2007, Miss S Gordon

I wouldn’t travel with span air as they talk Spanish and not English which I thought was rude! And the plane was quite bumpy! As well as that I thought it was stupid that you were only allowed to use the toilet closest to you and the airline staff are not afraid to tell you to sit down or to be quiet!
In the airport we got our luggage quiet quickly and headed off for the bus journey that was supposed to take on 45 mins to the hotel but the driver decided he would wait for another bus run so he could finish early! But finally 3 hours and no toilet breaks later we arrived at the hotel! (Just in time for dinner even though our flight went out at 6am that morning)
We checked in and went down to the restaurant for dinner; drinks are self service and the food a buffet! But the food is very nice and always a variety of food to suit everyone’s tastes. Pack lunches can be ordered the night before which include a bottle of water, sandwich and 3 pieces of fruit. Snacks, drinks, slush puppies and ice-cream are available for the pool side bar.
The evening entertainment for children is brilliant! But not so good for the adults. this is the only downside of the holiday! For children there is mini golf £4, trampolines-free, train-free, Mary go round-free, slides-free and an assault course! For the adults there is a gym-free and water park-free!
Really clean rooms and pool and also has very friendly helpful staff!
Extra tips:
-g to the top floor on the glass lift (outside) the view is amazing
Check behind the bath and for cracks in the walls in the bathroom for cockroaches or you mite get a surprise at 4am in the morning when you go to the toilet, but just tell reception and they will get it sorted!
-if you get a red band for children turn it inside out so its white and you will get served alcohol at the bar!
- use the pay phone at the beach (beside the spar shop) your credit will last allot longer!
- don’t take allot of money! It’s impossible to spend it because everything is free or really cheap!
- don’t go into the local town of Morgan in the evening because all the shops will be closed!
-defiantly go to the market in Morgan I think it is on a Friday but not 100% sure it’s really cheap and not that crowded!
- Oh in the flamingo bar the bigger the tip the better the measurements in the alcoholic drinks!

We have been back from this resort...
4 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs A Stokes

We have been back from this resort for a few weeks so I wanted to share my opinions of this hotel with other people who may be thinking of going there.
I went with my husband and two children aged 10 and 7 for two weeks on an AI basis.
Our first impressions was generally good, with friendly staff and a very clean pleasant hotel. Our room was very big with a fridge, safe (extra charge) and a TV (unless you speak Spanish, German or Dutch don't bother putting it on).
The cleanliness was second to done and the room was cleaned every day with fresh towels (put your towels on the bathroom floor in a heap to be sure of daily change!), and the beds made etc. The cleaners were lovely and very friendly.
We as a family thought the food was very boring, bland, and frustrating. The meats were sometimes uncooked, children are not really catered for, and it was hard work trying to find food that my 7 year old son would eat instead of chips every day.
The restaurant was very big and clean but at peak times it will get very busy and loud.
The food at the pool bar was horrible too but the cheese and ham toasties were the best thing to eat though it stops serving food from 1 - 3, as that is the time lunch is served in the restaurant, so you have to wait until 3 if you want to eat something at the pool.
We ended up going to either Puerto Rico (loud and brash) or Puerto de Mogan (beautiful) for food and spent 500 Euros on eating out as we couldn't face the food at times.
The entertainment was lovely for the kids although repetitious and Yasmin and Alberto tried very hard to keep things ticking over even though there was an obvious lack of facilities and funding for entertaining.
Not their fault as Alberto spent his own money on some Cd’s to play as the music was at times very boring and old. Our kids loved it though and it meant that my husband and I had a few hours to relax while they were at mini club!
The pool was ok although a bit salty and my son had a rash on his thighs every evening after coming out of the pool. The water park is like swimming in the sea but if you don't mind that then it's a few hours away from the hotel.
The resort is really pretty and very quiet, not much to do after 11pm though we ended up playing cards on our balcony which upset the Germans below us and ended up having stones thrown at us even though we were not loud as we had kids with us.
The service behind the bar off the reception was lousy which is an understatement, the barmen were unsmiling and very grumpy, and God help you if you were a woman or a child waiting to be served, they would just serve everyone else.
So being a typical wild Welsh woman who cannot abide rudeness and arrogance, I waded in a good few times shouting at those who cheated the queue! And at one particular barman, who was always ignoring me so I complained about him and had an argument with him.
I would not go back to this hotel although I would love to go to the Taurito Princess opposite as this looks gorgeous and I was told the food was amazing.
Oh I should tell you about the building works going on directly opposite the hotel which we were never informed about. They are building a new hotel there and every day apart from a Sunday, we could hear the typical noise you would expect from a building site.
The music from the pool however did drown out the noise when it was on but it starts early and they didn't finish until a around 5ish.
If you are going this year then expect this as they were nowhere near finished even though the website says works will finish in June 11th (the day we arrived).
I think that's all I have to share with you. The food, the service, and the building works were the contributing factors to my rating of 4/10, and we did enjoy the holiday but it was hard work and expensive trying to eat nice food every day.

Thoroughly enjoyable holiday....
10 / 10
Jul 2007, Mr P S Wright

Thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
Entertainment - Both Myself and my wife had a relaxing break as the resort is very quiet, my 4 year old daughter had the time of her life, making many new friends and loving the animation team - Alberto, Jasmine and Livia.
Plenty for the kids to do at the mini club followed by mini disco at night.
Golf was good although would recommend doing in the evening as cooler.
Carousel was 4 Euros for one go plus one train ride plus unlimited trampoline and slide again loved by the kids that went on it.
Food - good variety always different things to try - yes the burgers are pink but not undercooked just HAMBURGERS. No one had any serious complaints about the food or the service from staff at pool bar.
Pools - Personally I could not stand the water in the aqua park but my wife and daughter loved it, fountains, slides, bridge, foam Party. Pool in the hotel was good.
Hotel - Spot on no complaints at all Very Clean Felt Very Safe.
Overall Very Very Good holiday would not go next year though due to the new hotels being built may, in my opinion, just get a little too overcrowded in the aqua park.

I´ve just returned from a 2 week...
10 / 10
Jul 2007, Miss G A Ceeney

I´ve just returned from a 2 week stay at Lago Taurito and I’m only going to make this review short.
First things first: The hotel is a 3 and a half star and I think it should be 4.
Right the Restaurant; the food is wicked and is very big. There is a massive variety of food and is very delicious.
The pool are salt water but the aqua park is VERY salty but the main pool isn´t. Lilo´s and all that are allowed in the pool. The pool bar is nice and the flamingo pub I will mention in a bit.
Right the flamingo pub, all the evening entertainment is in there which is very good and the mini disco. The animation team are very kind and friendly.
The rooms are very nice and the balcony is very big. It´s is very little that sometimes it takes about 5 minutes to get served at the flamingo pub when it is very busy.
The computers are very nice even with built-in webcams!
The staff are quite friendly and reception are very helpful. There is a gym, spa, 24 hour doctor, souvenir shop, supermarket, clothe shops, perfume shop and rubber rings and all that shops.
Anyway that’s all and overall I had a very good time! I would so go to Lago Taurito again!

I have just got back from my week...
9 / 10
Jun 2007, Miss L  Hazlehurst

I have just got back from my week holiday to this hotel and thought it was fab!
The hotel was very clean and tidy with welcoming receptionists day and night.
The all inclusive facilities did not include hair dryer or TV remote but available to rent from reception along with safety deposit box.
It was my first holiday alone without my family but it was one to remember with its large lido pool and lovely beach. The crazy golf course was amazing and I played it every day with my partner which was very enjoyable.
The excursions were very well organised with friendly reps going along and having a laugh especially in Sioux City and hard rock cafe! Horse riding was great also with very nice helpful staff.
The food was lovely and always a wide range available and plenty to drink.
All in all the holiday was of great enjoyment and I would recommend it as a family or couple holiday.
