Arrived here at about 3am, excellent...
5 / 10
Sep 2008, Mr S Livesey

Arrived here at about 3am, excellent looking hotel friendly reception staff and quickly allocated our room. Buffet was laid on for the guests who arrived during the night, which was a nice gesture and very welcome.
ACCOMODATION
Couldn't fault it, very spacious with a large balcony, rooms cleaned regular.
POOL AREA.
Nice pool cleaned regular, a little small for the amount of guests that are in the hotel, the pool bar is open from 10am till 6pm serving Beers, Wines, Spirits, Ice cream, hotdogs and burgers, Soft drinks are also available which is a self serve( Coke, Fanta, Lemon, Sprite) tea and coffee also available.
Around the bar it tended to smell a bit and looked a little dirty on the floor area around it, again all staff friendly.sunbeds and parasols available, usually from about 9am onwards, the maintenance guy stacks and locks them up for the night ready for cleaning in the morning. there was always plenty to go round so no real rush to get one.
RESTAURANT/FOOD
Now then, i've been on plenty all inclusive holidays and i am sorry to say that this one was the worst for food of all of them, Pork chops, and chicken almost every day, lasagne, pasta dishes, fish, beef, fruit. The variety was definatley there, but the food was never, ever hot, always luke warm to cold, chicken and pork chops often undercooked, beef was fatty. A disappopintment really.
ENTERTAINMENT
I cant speak for the younger childrens entertainment as my children are 18 and 11 so i dont know what was available for the younger ones.
There wasn't alot for my 11 year old to do except for water polo every day at 3pm and volleyball in the pool at 3pm for the older ones, there was also archery, rifle shooting and darts for the adults.
The night time was a big let down, there is only one bar for the whole of the hotel at night, the entertainment is indoors and there aren't enough seats to fit everybody in.
They did a mini disco every night for the young ones and then the entertainment which lasted for approx 45 mins, Shows included, owl show, parrot show, reptile show you get the picture.
The bar closed at 11pm and that is it, no more drinks available, although certain nights they did let you purchase drinks after this time but not every night.
COMPLEX AS A WHOLE
Supermarket, massage, hair salon, gift shops, small gym, clothes shop, mini golf, water park which was free to all all inclusive guests. there is building work going on about 120 metere opposite the hotel, although it was very noisy when we were there, i think the bulk of the machine work was coming to an end so it shouldn't spoil your stay.
BEACH
Small beach, black sand, water sports available although a little pricey, 50euro's for 20 mins on the jet ski's.
TRIPS OUT
Mogan is a 5 minute taxi away, nice picturesque fishing village with a market on a Friday
Puerto Rico is about 10 mins away in a taxi, livelier here if your after a late night.
we did the jeep safari which was ok for a day out, nice scenery, can get very dusty.
also did the timanfaya galleon trip, Its a boat trip from Puerto Rico and sails to Mogan where they anchor up and let you swin in the sea, you have lunch and play games on board, another good day out if you want to escape the hotel for a day.
SUMMARY
Relaxing holiday, with nice accomodation and staff, could do with a good all round general clean outside of the hotel, and improve the food.
Wouldn't come again to this hotel.
Please take into account that these are our personal opinions, if you have booked you will enjoy it but these are what let it down for us

Well what can i say, I was a little worried about the mixed reviews but that was unfounded. We arrived at the hotel at midnight thirsty and hungry. We checked in and to our relief we had a meal of fruit and rolls wrapped up in clingfilm which was laid on for the people who got to the hotel late with us.I have stayed all inclusive before but have never had a meal saved for our arrival. We thought the reception was bright and airy.We had a stroll around to see what was around. The beach was lovely but the current was quite strong and the sand was dark, the foot fountains werent working though to wash our feet!!We spent alot of time in the waterpark which was free to all inclusive guests. We had meals and drinks in the hotel and went to water park for a mess about,we felt that the water park was very clean but got very busy at weekends.
We couldnt fault the food there was plenty for everyone but after a week it became pretty much of the same.Once we had our evening meal there wasnt alot to do.
My children are 16 and 13 so they just hung around with kids they met.The hotel laid on its entertainment but it was usual parrot shows etc......
We went into Puerto MOgan a beautiful fishing village for a change, it was absolutely stunning, we went by taxi which was about 6 euros each way.Well worth the visit. The staff were very helpful and courteous to us.Crazy golf on an evening was a good laugh but it was very hot during the day.
Our last day we had to vacate the room at 12pm but our flight was 11.20pm, but we were able to use a room to shower and change.
I would go back again without the children as there was not enough for them to do.

Sep 2008, Mrs T WALTERS

the hotel was very nice food was ok but needed to be a lot warmer ,we had clean towels every day the room was clean evey day ,receptist was ok most of the time a bit grumpy and not nice on last day on leaving when you get told by rep you can keep your room for 30 euros which is not the case .the pool is very small but you have the water park just across the way which is really salty .building work was ok just a little bit noisy .we only saw the rep mark once on our stay for the week we enjoyed it, but they could of bit a lot more for the kids to do .the entertainment was ok but nothink to shout about .staff were ok most of the time weather was great very hot the trips which tomas cook do are a must as that was the best part of the holiday .the town and village near by are good to taxis and busus are cheeap cant walk any were near to use transport .just one bad point do not get rope in by going on a anfi trip as it all to do with time share and the people are nasty if you say no at the end of the tour other than that had a great time , and my husband and our 13 year old enjoyed it

Just need to say to begin with...

Just need to say to begin with ,please ignore all the very negative reviews!
We are a family of five[children aged 14,12 and 9]who have all just enjoyed a great fortnight at Lago Taurito. As a family we found the hotel excellent ,the hotel staff very friendly,[especially towards the children]and the rooms very clean and well furnished.
The choice of food over the fortnight was good-as long as you are not a picky eater![need to be careful at the grill-as meat is sometimes undercooked.]
We found the hotel to be in a very pretty setting ,with sea views and water park views.[the building work opposite did not cause any problems-they are near to completion!]The beach is about a two minute walk away ,and is small with dark sand, but we went there every day,and the children had great fun in the sea with inflatables, building sandcastles and sun bathing.[Lovely beach cove.]Waterpark is free entry to all incusive guests-good ,but sal****er pool -advise wearing goggles.
Entertainment was normal spanish hotel entertainment-need to be careful to sit in blue chairs not red -as some german guests do tend to be rude and stand and block your view![You also get the common problem regarding towels on the sunbeds at 8a.m in the morning.]
The flamingo bar ,has a really friendly barman,Ali-Who makes most people laugh![Bar staff do tend to serve spanish first-unless you befriend them first!]
All in all would certainly return ,only problem we found was no money exchange-had to go to Peurto de Mogan to exchange travellers cheques.[Very pretty place with a good market on Fridays.] Also worth a visit -Spirit of the sea dophin and whale search.[Peurto Rico]Saw approx 30 dolphins.

As a family of 2 adults and 4...
7 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs G Darby

1 reader found this review helpful

As a family of 2 adults and 4 children, we have just got back from a 2 week stay and on the whole thoroughly enjoyed it, although in hind-sight 7-10 days would have been the ideal length of stay!
Arrived at 3am to a wonderful looking hotel. Reception staff on duty were efficient and friendly, offering us refreshments if we wanted them. Room was spacious and very clean. Bed linen changed once a week and towels changed everyday! We couldn't fault the room staff! There was a television in the room with only 1 english speaking channel which was BBC world news, a very long night if you have small children in bed. Take plenty of books and magazines as we found these to be expensive to buy locally
Some parts of the hotel looked a little tired and needed a lick of paint but that was about all. The pool is nowhere near big enough for the size of hotel, got quite crowded between 11-1 and 3-5. The whole pool area could have done with a thorough scrub down, the concrete tiles around the edge of the pool were a bit slimy and there was a smell from the drains at one side of the pool. Get into the spirit and 'reserve' your sunbeds, towels were out as early as 7:30am! Although the hotel ask you to refrain from doing this nothing was done to stop it. At 3pm they did waterpolo for the kids and 'volleyball in the water' for adults. My husband, being 6'3", loved this. I doubt the others trying to get a look in did!!
The food was on the whole quite nice. Buffet style and never really very crowded. Food could have done with being served hotter! Breakfast was probably the most disappointing meal of the day. The same every day, having said that we all ate a decent breakfast. Tradition english breakfast lovers will be disappointed! Plenty of eggs, weird bacon and hot dog sausages. But theres plenty of breads, cereals, yoghurt and fruit. Lots of grilled meat and fish served at dinner time. The snacks from the pool bar were ok, but we rarely ate between meals. Kids were thrilled at the ice cream and drinks that they could go up and fetch themselves.
The evening entertainment wasn't the best. The 'mini disco' (words that shall haunt me forever!) played the same 5 songs every night, but the kids did enjoy it. The entertainment organisers were really friendly and got all the kids to join in. The shows were entertaining for the children and offered photographs with the 'stars', being either birds or reptiles for 10euros. We had a group pic of the kids so saved a bit there. Unfortunately the bar is also too small and fair play to the 3 bartenders who tried in vain to cope with the last orders surge. If you eventually got through the queue you could order a few drinks to keep the night going a little longer than 11pm.
The waterpark outside the hotel, was lovely. Never too crowded and you could always get sun loungers. The downside was the salty water, not good for my underwater swimmers!
There were a few other things to do around the hotel. Crazy golf was a good laugh at 4 euros each. The beach is nice but we found the waves quite strong for the kids, husband really wanted a go at the diving, but would'nt go on his own.
The other holidaymakers were spanish, germans, dutch and belgians. The best value for money had to be the bingo night when the number were announced in 3 different languages - i gave up!
The towns of Puerto De Mogan and Puerto Rico were 5-10 mins bus/taxi ride away. The buses come every 15 mins to either Mogan or Puerto Rico. Buses cost about 1-2 Euros for adults and slightly less for the kids. Mogan is lovely and easy to see why they name it Little Venice. The market on a friday is a must see, if only for the colourful characters. We caught a boat one way from Puerto Rico to Mogan which was 3 euros (6 e return) per adult and kids over 8, younger kids were free. It was lovely to see the cliffs and quiet coves in the area. I'm not a fan of Puerto Rico, so we didn't spend much time around there. I got fed up of trying to be hustled into cafes and bars and hasseled by timeshare salesmen.
On the whole i'd recommend young families and older couples to stay here. And anyone wanting a place by the pool to sit and sun themselves!

WHAT A RELEIF!......I would like to...
8 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs Kirk

WHAT A RELEIF!......I would like to reassure families going out to this resort, after reading the reviews prior to our holiday this year, that this is a very lovely hotel set in a beautiful quite bay, with helpful reception staff and happy barstaff! Our 2 kids aged 12 and 8 had a ball in the pool, although not so keen on the salt water aquapark, but only cause they are underwater swimmers! (salt water not so tasty!!)
The entertainment at night kept the kids amused, and the evening bar area (could have been a little bigger) was outdoor and indoor. The food, although not very exciting, was tasty and the kids loved the poolbar snacks and endless icecreams. I think if there was maybe a selection of restaraunts to pick from instead of eating in the same dining hall for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday it would have been ideal. Nevertheless, we find that our holiday is a success if the kids are well catered for and with this holiday, they certainly were. The brilliant sunshine day after day was not too shabby either.....
All-in-all this is not a holiday to turn your nose up at for the money, so all those who didn't like it .....what were you looking for? P.S. We never found the building work a problem at all. Happy holiday.

Aug 2008, Miss C Wilkinson

I am 20 years old and I have just returned from a week long stay at this hotel with my boyfriend.
The location of the hotel is beautiful and it is a good holiday if you like stayin by the hotel pool or sunbathing on the beach.
I read alot of bad reviews before i went so i was a bit worries about what to expect.
The hotel its self is lovely on the inside and out. The beds are not very comfy but you can never beat your own bed lol.
The mini golf is brilliant we went on the a few times and that is 4 euros per person. We only went to the water park once because i dont like salt water but the hotel pool was nice enough for us.
We also went in to peurto rico one nite that cost between 10-12 euros each way in a taxi or 2.40 return on the bus.
We also went on the liberty boat this was brill for topping up your tan but not so good if you get sea sick as you are on it from about 10-4.
The night time entertain ment is not the best but certainly not the worse. It is just average. Everything shuts down about 11 though.
I hope my review has helped you

Aug 2008, Mrs T Hughes

i was not impressed with this place....and i suppose everyone has there own views. the mini golf was 4 euros each even for children and not fully complete. there is still building work going on at 8am in morning. other than mini golf, beach and small water park there is nothin to do. the evening entertainment i thought was not good. it was the same songs every night. the parrot show did photos with the parrot but cost 10 euros each for pics so for 3 pics 30 euros rediculous....then you had a woman come round while your eating takin pictures then selling them for 7 euros each..so i wont be going back there again. oh and the food was nearly the same every day....

Myself and my 7 year old daughter...
9 / 10
Jul 2008, Ms K Scott

Myself and my 7 year old daughter came here for 2 weeks and we both loved it. Having been all inclusive in the past I was apprehensive following the varied reviews about the food, service etc, but I wasn't disappointed with this hotel. We both enjoyed the food, my daughter was spoiled for choice every meal time! The ice cream and slush puppies 'on tap' at the poolside bar were a god send to keep her cool! The burgers from there were delicious too!! Our room was fab and the towels got changed every 2nd day which was fine. The pool was shaded until about noon which was good. It did get busy late afternoon, but that wasn't really an issue. Towels did seem to appear early but I found that if you got your towels out by 9.30 you still had a decent 'choice' of poolside beds. The staff were very polite and friendly, helping you if you had a problem or query. My daughter and myself enjoyed the entertainment. Only the parrot show and bird of prey show were a disappointment and they were very short and then they wanted 10 euros for a photo! We didn't even bother watching the snake show. We did have bingo one night, which was done in 5 languages, which made it entertaining just for that!!!! The kids disco was the same 5 songs every night, but even that was funny to watch! We went to the water park 4 times during our stay. The salt water was a pain but you got used to it and again we both enjoyed it, especially as it was free! You had to pay 20 euros for the day (2 adults + 1 child) if you stayed at the other hotels. Our Rep Mark was lovely and couldn't do enough to help us. Through him we booked a trip to Sioux City on the Friday night, which was pricey at 90 euros but well worth it! The whole night was absolutely brilliant! We also went to Mogan and took the Yellow Submarine Trip, which my daughter loved! The construction work never bothered us at all, infact you hardly heard it. The mini golf was getting overhauled so there were only 9 holes available to play but for 4 euros even that was good fun! If I had to pick any faults it would be that the all-inclusive finished at 11 which was a little bit too early, you had to be on the ball and get your drinks before the 10.40 rush! If we were to go back to Gran Canaria I would definately go back to Taurito and this hotel would be my first choice.

Two children 3 and 9 and husband came...

Jul 2008, Mrs C Shorting

Two children 3 and 9 and husband came here for a week entertainment rubbish during day and the evening was a joke watch the parrot show 25 mins of them taking photos of your kids then selling them next day really poor quality pictures at that. Pool is too small for the size of hotel we went to water park most days but kids got a nasty rash off the salt water advise to use the showers when getting out of pool for anytime.I found staff to be nice and helpful some people have said towels were not changed if you do not put dirty towels in bath wont get changed that is standard around the world, room was cleaned everyday. The bathroom could be a bit dangerous with the water from the shower so be careful. Now the food when reading previous reviews I was worried being 18 weeks pregnant as well, first not very warm the food and is geared more to the German guest but I tried it all including the burgers which i think are pink in colour due to them being ham and not beef and not too being undercooked I never got a bad stomach or any of the family. Puerto Rico is a hole waste of time Anfi timeshare people bothering you on every corner got the glass bottom boat back to Morgan which is lovely little town and the market is good sells the usual holiday items, bus back is a bit scary if you dislike heights I closed my eyes!!If you have young children this hotel is brill as after 11 no noise to be heard. The building work across the road is nothing either could not really tell some people just like to complain I guess. Reps never seen at all so cant comment.

Jul 2008, Miss P Kelly

as our arrival was late we didnt get much of a look but you could tell it was very pretty,we booked through thomas cook and only saw the rep once for the 2 weeks we were there and what miserable man he was,the balconys were huge but not for little ones as there is a gap at the bottom which they could easily crawl under, and if your on a top floor then its a big drop.food wasnt up to much but most of the time edable.Entertainment was rubbish shows went on for about 10 mins the rest was them trying to get your photo with either snakes or birds which will cost you 10 euros, the kids reps were a load of rubbish they are the most miserable bunch i have ever seen!!! Most of thehotel staff were friendly especially ali the bar man,he was great always asked how we all were. Would recommend going to mogan market it is great, especially if your a good haggler which my partner is,and puerto rico has a great chinese and some great bars if you want to go out.we Oh yeah and there is building work going on across from the hotel but most of the major work is done and i cant say it bothered us at all. Most of the holidaymakers there are germans or spanish and if you want a sun lounger by the pool then you will have to beat them they get up very early in the morning and put there towels on them, which actually is very funny to watch,in fact probably the best entertainment you will get. I wouldnt go back to this hotel again but would go to that area as it is so pretty.
