A wonderful holiday staying in lovely...

Nov 2005, Mrs J Thompson

A wonderful holiday staying in lovely surroundings. Our two bedroom apartment was clean, comfy, lovely views, and the owners/staff were great. Would definitely return and recommend it anyone who wanted a lovely unspoiled location. It was my husbands and mine third visit to Archarvi but out first visit to the Eriva Apartments. This time we were joined by out Daughter and 2 year old grandson. It was more than we expected. So close to the beach ( a short walk to a sandier location if you don’t like the pebbles) and really near the village. The worlds weather seems to be changing and we had a couple of unusual storms but rather than retract from our holiday they seemed to enhance it as the locals did everything to make us comfortable as the weather was raging! Luckily we had at least 10 days of constant sunshine. The JMC rep was great ..... Sam ..... bless her.. She got to know our grandsons name really quickly and included us in the resorts socials. Not usually our thing but we found it all very entertaining. The Eriva Apartments must be tried!! We will certainly be returning.

We found the apartments to be basic...

Oct 2005, Mrs TJ Spiller

We found the apartments to be basic but clean. We had 2 studio apartments as we took my son and his girlfriend. Although these are meant to be for 3 people it would be very cramped. Only 2 rings to cook on so self-catering would be very difficult. We were in the apartments from 7-14 October 2005. Weather was mainly dry but there was a lot of high cloud.
Disappointed to find after being advised to the contrary, that we were unable to purchase extra time in the apartments after the 12 noon on the Friday of our departure although we weren’t being picked up by the coach until 02.15 the next morning. Nowhere comfortable to sit in the meantime. Very convenient for both the town and beach - just a few minutes to both.

I’ve recently just got back from...

Oct 2005, Miss L C Wood

I’ve recently just got back from the Eriva apartments where I had a great two weeks with my partner and two young daughters.
The Eriva apartments are set in a nice quiet location 2 minutes walk to beach. The pool is very clean and we had no problems getting sun loungers and it was very quiet just a few children.
When we arrived at the Eriva we were expecting one of the apartments it describes in the brochure but actually ours was one of a row of four apartments which was not near the pool or bar. It looked alot older than the pink buildings but the views we had were great, not over looked just a field behind with the views of the mountains.
We didn’t actually spend much time in the pool or use the pool bar and we found the owners disliked this and the reason we and other people we spoke to at the Eriva think this maybe because we didn’t spend our money there or time. The owners never spoke to us once and found it hard to crack a smile which made us feel uncomfortable. The only people I found them friendly with were those who go back year after year. To be honest the only resident of the Eriva we found very friendly was the pet dog Rudy who did find the time to greet you when you saw him.
When our last night at the Eriva arrived we had to be ready for pick up at 2.10am we was not happy when they closed the bar at 1am and basically left us in the dark and the owners never even said goodbye and went of to bed.
We could not fault the apartments at all but the owners attitude have completely put me off returning again.

Having recently separated, myself and...

May 2005, caromel

Having recently separated, myself and my 2 daughters were in need of a break. I looked up some last minute deals via Wanadoo and found the Eriva apartments to match the criteria for our needs - clean, family run apartments, close to the beach in a quiet location with pool and bar facilities.
I’ve been holidaying in Greece for years, having originally fallen in love with EVERYTHING about the country 20 years ago, when I went to Athens to work as an Au-Pair. Put it this way, I'm very comfortable to go as an independent traveller, but with 2 pre-teen daughters I felt happier booking a package deal so everything is done for you, just pack, go - RELAX!!!
I found booking us all as adults made the costing cheaper, less underoccupancy surcharge was added (how do Travel Companies get away with the pricing policies, it seems a scam to me?).
Everything went very smoothly, even losing my eldest daughter at Manchester Airport was not a problem, as the staff helped us locate her in double quick time, no hold-ups or delays and smooth transfers once in Corfu. We found ourselves in a lovely 2 bedroom apartment, which although relatively basic was spotlessly clean and matched the brochure description.
I can’t find anything to fault the Eriva on, all the staff were wonderful and so laid back it was impossible not to wind down and relax. The pool was clean and maintained daily, with a children’s section for the little ones. The Snack & Drinks menu was good value for money too, and not pushed on you, with the staff quite happy to chat away!
As I speak some Greek, I had a chance to practice with them and score a few brownie points for us Brits - someone who has made an effort to learn something about their culture and language really goes down well - it’s my top tip and isn’t as difficult as many people think to learn.
In Acharavi itself, we found plenty of great local tavernas, bars and restaurants to choose from, all quite reasonably priced too.
Acharavi is the main town for the North of Corfu so it is quite busy during the day & evening - it still has a villagey feel to it though, which is very endearing and as a visitor you certainly feel welcome - as a single mum, I felt very comfortable and relaxed walking about at night, as did the girls!
The nearby beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles, and goes on for miles - my girls love swimming and the sea is shallow, without too many rocks, but not many fish around - disappointing if you like snorkelling!
Highlights of our trip - a boat trip to Sivota on the mainland, Aqualand Waterpark and the Karaoke night at the Eriva - all really good fun and excellent family value - not forgetting the outstanding hospitality of Spiros & Angelica who own the Eriva, their lovely staff Ilias & Sofia (Albanian) and their little boy Kledi, who at 7 is already trilingual and a real joy.
A testimony to our experience is that we are definitely going back next year, hoping to explore a bit more and enjoy the beautiful countryside and abundant olive groves - I can almost smell the pine forests and hear the ubiquitous crickets and swallows just thinking about it now - truly a blissful, chilled out experience - Yiamas!!
