May 2007, Mr S Brown

I read some of the reviews and I have to laugh. It’s after all down to your individual taste you just don’t know until you go yourself.
However, we went with 2 young kids and found it very relaxing and that’s what it’s all about.
Staff and owners were fantastic & the place is spotless and this is a resort that has repetitive customers.
An excellent place to go if you have never visited Corfu, these people know what hospitality is all about.

Acharavi has low key entertainment,...

Sep 2006, Mrs M Ellis

Acharavi has low key entertainment, but fantastic restaurants. Pumphouse - very good staff and excellent food. Odyseuss, and Acharavi Park were also excellent. Lemon Garden - avoid - food overpriced - can't see what you are eating as the grounds are pitch black and when paying they assume that change is a tip.
We left 90 Euros, dinner was 75! British bar - food and atmosphere rubbish. Artist near the Pumphouse excellent all pictures drawn very lifelike and well worth the money spent. Eriva Apartments could not fault at all. Owners Angela and Spiros were lovely. Had our wedding anniversary there and they gave us a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate. On leaving Spiros came to the apartment with a bottle of wine and a thank you card for us staying there.
Overall the apartments and pool area are well kept. Beds and pillows are like blocks of cement but by the second week you become accustomed to it. Cooking conditions are basic, only two rings. Mosquitoes are a nightmare - bit just about everyone. Food at the pool bar very nice, again basic but nice.
We last week and half of August coming back in September. Had no problems with sun beds, wasn't that busy so probably is a good time to as kids are going back to school. Overall, although quiet, excellent holiday, people lovely and would go again.

Aug 2006, Mrs R McArthur

My husband and I booked this having never been to Corfu before and we fell in love with the place.
The Eriva is clean, basic and friendly. The owners are the most wonderful people and we came away feeling like family. The only place I have ever been where the owners wave you off after your holiday. [after a huge Greek hug].
The pool is a good size, the beach bar is a god send and there is a wide selection of snacks available. No air conditioning, but fans may be hired at reception. [get in quick though]. The beach is minutes away - as is the main street. Tons of eating places and the food is first class - this is somewhere you will definitely not starve. We found booking our excursions cheaper up on the main street - rather than through the rep. [who was non-existent for most of the holiday].
At the end of the day if you are looking for a relaxing holiday with clean accommodation and plenty of opportunity to stuff your face then you can do a lot worse.
The Greek people must be the friendliest souls on the planet and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Eriva to anyone.

Apartments basic but clean-typically...
5 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr E Wilkinson

Apartments basic but clean-typically Greek-minor problems ie toilet/shower door didn’t shut properly and you couldn’t lock the door-2 bed apartments with 2 small bath towels and 2 very small hand towels supplied-this was totally inadequate
for 2 adults and 2 teenage girls.
Doors creaked as if you were walking into a 16th century castle. Informed our rep (Matt) nice bloke but about as good as a chocolate teapot as nothing was done (from other reviews this seems typical)
After using the first toilet roll (they don’t last long) you have to buy your own-this was a first for us in all the years we’ve been going abroad. At the end of the first week our rep (nice Matt) passed on a complaint that we'd marked the towels. Hardly surprising when it needed all 4 to mop up the excess water in the 4 foot square toilet/shower area. About 2 days before we went home our rep asked if he could take a couple to look at our apartment. It transpired that their block (past the swimming pool and behind the bar) was disgusting-you have been warned. They thought our block (to the right of reception-no 53) was a palace compared to were they were put
Lots of mosquitoes take plenty of plug ins also citronella spray seemed to work best although you couldn’t avoid getting bitten. Weather very good had one or two heavy downpours but dried up within a couple of hours.
Beach narrow and stony but once you got out a few yards was sandy and you could walk out a long way-very pleasant cooling breeze on beach. Tried about 6/7 different restaurants (all Greek-not into British /sky bars-sorry) All the food was good and you could generally drink the house wine which was more than adequate.
Best restaurant ODYSSEUS-situated on the main stretch opposite the pump house
They do a fantastic MEZZA 12 courses 13 euros but you need to be seriously hungry to get through it. We had this twice but on our second visit ordered 5 portions for 7 people and we still were stuffed. Also had there seafood MEZZA similar price to above this was exceptional-had this twice did same as above qty wise.
Ate here 7 times would recommend it to any body, got to know staff very friendly without being obtrusive. On most nights were given free desert or wine. This is one of the only restaurants in the resort that stay open all year-if you try it you'll understand why.

We had high hopes for the Eriva, but...
6 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs E Swaine

We had high hopes for the Eriva, but on the whole were disappointed. Our room was for 3 people, but, it was really only for 2 - 2 of everything, and the third person bed was a settee in the kitchen. We were also in a really noisy position, asked for a move, having a toddler - but got nowhere. The owners stop speaking to you if you complain. Rooms are very clean, as is the complex, and well kept, but it was very busy when we were there, sun beds are taken the night before.
The pool was fine, well kept, but again very full, and the toddler pool is used for the water polo, so we could never relax.
There’s lots of mosquitoes, and the other guests we spoke to, were unhappy at the now lack of entertainment - it was down to a karaoke every 2 weeks, and the reps once weekly quiz. The resort itself is very low key, which is ok - although older kids were bored.
The tavernas are lovely, I liked the beach but my 3 yr old didn't appreciate the lack of sand, so we were stuck by the pool, and watching the buses and taxis from our balcony
Would not go back, certainly not in peak season too much like a hot Butlins, always noisy and at least our room, was not what we had hoped for.

We have visited Corfu before and...
6 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr N J F

We have visited Corfu before and Greece 3 times previously so we know what Greek accommodation can be like. The Eriva apartments, although well located, clean and well staffed, were somewhat disappointing. Firstly our room had no air conditioning and it was stiflingly hot. We are a family of four including a teenage daughter who needs her privacy and we requested a two roomed apartment.
To us this meant two bedrooms, however on arrival we found it was one kitchen and one bedroom, clearly unsuitable, with a pull out bed as the fourth place to sleep, hopelessly inadequate storage space; we spent 2 weeks living out of our suitcases as there was only 1 small wardrobe and a 2 drawer dressing table. The kitchen had only 2 chairs to sit at the table, however we had to use the kitchen as a bedroom by dragging the pull-out bed in there for our daughter. The 2 ringed cooker had only 1 ring working so was useless and on looking for the main cooker switch I discovered mains wiring connections to the cooker hood were held together by electricians tape.
The shower room/toilet was too small and water leaked from the shower consistently flooding the floor and leaking into the kitchen causing the tiled floor to become very wet and dangerously slippery, but we had been instructed not to use their towels for mopping up excess water! When these issues were reported to the rep he informed the owners but nothing was done in the time that we were there. Needless to say we asked to upgrade at our expense but the rep told us there was no other rooms available.
The staff were friendly and the pool and grounds were well kept and its location is very good, its ok for a quieter holiday as the only entertainment is a TV in the bar but unless you get a bigger apartment, with air con, it can be a very difficult stay. Not all rooms are as described in the Thomas Cook brochure and we were not the only ones who found out too late.

Jul 2006, Ms A McIntyre

We just got back from a seven night holiday and wish we could have stayed longer. The photos available of this complex don't do it justice.
The buildings and pool area are lovely as are the well tended flower beds and gardens. The owners and staff are extremely welcoming as is the JMC rep 'Matt'. Accomodation was spotless and we were visited by maids several times during our week. A special mention should be given to the shower which was brilliant with plenty of hot water and power.
The location of the complex is also perfect; a couple of minutes level stroll to the beech front where there are shops restaurants and bars. A slighly longer (5 mins) to the main street with more shops etc. We had a lovely time and would love to go back.

We booked this holiday last minute...

Jul 2006, Mrs Gl Smith

We booked this holiday last minute and had never heard of Acharavi. We were not disappointed!
The Eriva apartments are in an ideal location with the beach at the end of a private road and the town centre 5 minutes walk away. You must have a meal at Valentines and watch the sun set over the sea the Pump House restaurant in the town centre is also a must! Georgina and the staff at the Eriva made our holiday, they are all so friendly. The pool is very clean and getting a sun bed at any time was no problem.
The apartment was basic but very clean and not cramped at all. My two daughters thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and especially liked watching the fire flies every evening in the fields adjacent to the road. We met many people who had been to the Eriva year after year and we definitely will return!

Jun 2006, Ms Su Jones

Brilliant! Georgia and Hector were so friendly as were Dennis and his wife and all the cleaning ladies and bar staff.
Everything was spotlessly clean and the apartments were bigger than we'd expected with glorious views of both the sea and mountains depending on which side of the apartment you were looking out of. Very close to the sea, beach, tavernas, shops and local buses and taxis. The Eriva pool is fantastic and the water so clean.
I loved watching the swallows swooping down for a drink and doing their formation flying every morning outside our balcony. Prices were very reasonable in Acharavi and I would advise anyone to visit Corfu town at least once during their stay as it's a beautiful place to walk around. We took a local ferry to Igoumenitsa - it was very reasonably priced and took about 2 hours each way - like a mini-cruise and a lovely way to keep cool when the temperatures soar.
The Eriva owners and staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful as was our rep, Matt. Will definitely be going back again - the sooner the better!

May 2006, Mrs A Weber

My mother, myself and aunt all book this as a last minute deal and we were not disappointed by it. The scenery was wonderful, the beach was fantastic and the people even more so! We went in the middle of May and the weather was lovely and hot with not too many tourists so you enjoy the peace and quiet.
They locals try and make you feel so welcoming and do their best to help you in any way they can. The apartments were spotlessly clean and the pool area and pool bar were also spotless. They give you a nice warm welcome when you arrive and nothing is to much trouble for you whether it be to book a taxi or birthday cakes! I found the staff friendly and helpful.
I will definitely be going again and I also found that a lot of the people that I spoke to had returned year after year so I think that said something about the people and the Eriva Apartments.

Nov 2005, Miss G Bruce

Me and my boyfriend went here on the last minute. We had a fantastic time the apartment was less than 10 minutes walk from both the beach and the centre of Acharavi. You could even see and hear the sea in the distance. The apartment is family run and there is a family atmosphere, they are all incredibly friendly and even taught me some Greek they serve food (even when we arrived at 10.30pm) they do some traditional Greek dishes as well as toasted sandwiches and chips and lots of drinks as well as cocktails are available for a very reasonable price.
We got a free ouzo and lemonade when we went to our rep meeting - she was very friendly and informative. The family were very helpful and let me use their phone in the reception for a very cheap rate - most of the rooms have phones in them but unfortunately ours wasn't working - but it wasn't any trouble to ask to use a phone. They also offer a exchange service for a very reasonable rate which is really useful when you run out of money.
We had such a great time I ended up getting engaged, my boyfriend proposed to me on the beach. It's a fantastic place quieter ideal for couples and families - there are still a reasonable selection of bars and restaurants and Roda is only 15 mins walk away and there is Sidari which is bus ride away and you get a taxi back for a mere 13 euros and that is a bit more lively. Would recommend and definitely will be going back again.
