Just returned on 2 September after...
1 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr S Armstrong

Just returned on 2 September after one week.
All I have to say is beware, stay clear, very poor hygiene, chipped beer glasses and plates on the beach bar, chipped tables, very grubby, need replacing. My son had bad stomach kept running to toilet and vomiting all night. I had same problem on the last two days - still not right two days after returning. The food is very poor, the soft drinks machines (both of them) just trickle, queuing all the time, waiting for drinks - never any glasses ready and waited for clean ones every time you go to the one and only bar. Then they only half fill your glass and you are only allowed two at a time. No mini fridge in your room, the juice is always warm in the machines only, two of them - one on beach and one in bar area.
Spoke to local taxi drivers – they even told us we should have stayed clear of this hotel – 3 star what a joke! I would not even rate 1 star.

We, my wife and me, stayed here from...
8 / 10
Dec 2006, Mr Henk Schrevel

We, my wife and me, stayed here from 22-29 November 2006.
All inclusive, which means: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks at 11.00 and 16.00 hrs and all day free coffee, tea, juices and mineral water.
Buffet style meals with abundant choice of salads, soup, warm dishes (meat, fish, pasta's, rice, etc), fresh fruits and sweets. Plates for warm dishes preheated.
Daily rooms cleaned, new towels and bed made up in traditional Tunisian style. Friendly maids (tipped). Waiters in restaurant do speak French and quite a few English, German and amazingly also some Dutch and were very attentive.
May be this is different in high season. I guess the occupation rate was 1/3.
Guests mainly: Germans, Dutch and Danish people, although we also heard Italian and Romanian being spoken.
Nice location for outings. We visited the capital Tunis, the Bardo-museum, Carthago, El Katoui, the local museums in Sousse, the Sunday-market, the catacombs and of course the Medina.
Speak to the locals in French and you are shown places to sip a coffee or a fresh pressed orange juice, in a back street with the locals; even some doors of mosques do open to non-believers by giving something to the Imam for the poor.
All in all: to be recommended!

The Rhiad palms hotel is very nice...
3 / 10
Jul 2006, Ms M Barker

The Rhiad palms hotel is very nice beautiful in fact, it looked good on the photos but when we got there it turns out you can get put into the sister hotel next door which is below average the rooms are dingy, the bathrooms are not very nice.
Speaking to other people who booked at the same time as me I found that they had paid the same as me but were put in the beautiful Rhiad palms with the lovely polished floors and the lavish rooms.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement and I had a 2 year old with me, we could use all the facilities in the big hotel but it didn’t make up for the dirty room we had.

The holiday was booked through...
7 / 10
Aug 2005, Not Specified

The holiday was booked through lastminute.com, which rated the Riadh Palms a 3 star hotel, after searching the internet, I found that most sites rated it as 4 star. When we reached our destination, we were pleased with the overall look of the hotel, though this was only from the outside.
The lobby of the hotel seemed fine, however, the corridors and the lifts were in poor condition, with need of revamp and modernisation. Most of the rooms have very old carpet, however we were lucky to have one of the newer rooms, with tiled floors.
The room in itself was a good size and clean with a balcony, unfortunately we did not have a sea view room, but most of the rooms have a beautiful sea view- be sure to ask for it on arrival.
Overall we had a good relaxing holiday, however the food was a big disappointment, in and around the hotel. The menu is almost the same for most of the restaurants around Sousse, and the tastes are very bland. There is also very little to do in the evenings, and we often found ourselves getting a bit bored.
There is plenty to do during the day, including water sports, excursions, and shopping, but don’t make a mistake of booking two weeks here, 7 nights is more than enough!
