Good value for money
Stayed here for 3 nights recently. A warm welcome when we arrived and directed to our room which was quite large with good facilities. Bed very comfortable, adequate wardrobe and drawer storage space. Flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities with fresh milk if required and well equiped bathroom except for towel rail. Breakfast service was efficient with a good choice and "early bird" dinner 3 courses for £12.50 was excellent value. Good location just off the end of Princes Street and easy walking distance of many... more
Excellent stay
We booked for 3 nights for Hogmanay (30-12-06 to 2-1-07). The location of the hotel is great, the rooms are nicely furnished, large enough and very clean. The large bathroom with a bubblebath was a nice surprise! Breakfast was nice (although Haggis at breakfast was quite the challenge for us..) and there was lots to choose from. The staff of the hotel made us feel very welcome! Definitely a hotel we would recommend tot others.
great choice
We stayed at the Parliament house hotel for the weekend 18th-20th November 2006. The hotel is ideally positioned for Princes street and the new and old town. The room was spacious and comfortable. The only drawback was the room we were allocated was down 2 flights of a stone spiral staircase, which was fine as we are able bodied, the majority of the rooms were much more easily accessible. The bathrooms seemed a little dated, but perfectly adequate and with lots and lots of hot water and very clean. The hotel bistro did a... more
Good clean hotel
The overall feel of the hotel was friendly & accommodating. The rooms were clean & well laid out. Loved the Grayfriars Bobby dog, it was a nice touch - although I did not buy one £19.99 for a cuddly toy!! Excellent hotel in a good part of the town. Didn't hear a thing from fellow guests - were there any! Not a peep! The night staff were really helpful & one of them told us of some of the best bits of Edinburgh & even slipped some brochures through under the door. Brilliant!
Would go back
I enjoyed staying at this hotel. The rooms were well furnished and clean. The full scottish breakfast was good and the staff friendly. The hotel is conveniently placed for the train station, Princes St, airport bus drop off, tour buses. I would recommend this hotel to friends and would stay here again. There is also a restaurant in the hotel for dinner which is very convenient.
Shame about the porridge!
I specifically chose this hotel for a short stay for myself and my mother based on reviews here - and on the whole, it was fine for a 3 star hotel. We didn't arrive until 9.15pm due to a problem with our flight into Edinburgh and the lady on reception was less than totally welcoming, I have to say. The day shift people, however, couldn't do enough for us. We were starving and so once we had dropped off our bags, we went down to the bistro in the hotel itself ; the brochure in the rooms said last orders were at 9.30pm (this is a... more
Great location. Good value for money
My husband and I stayed for one night at the hotel in October having secured a rate on the internet of £95 including breakfast for a double room. We had travelled into the city on the airport shuttle bus and got off at the last drop off point at Waverley station. The hotel is approximately 7 minutes walk from here. We headed to Princes street, crossed over the road and turned right. We walked along until we saw Leith street which is were the James Shopping centre is. Turn left down Leith street walking for approximately 30 metres. Calton... more
Like Arnie says, I will be back
Great location. Flew in and got the airport bus to the City Centre. Hotel is about 7/8 mins on foot from the last drop off point from the airport bus before making its return journey to the airport. We arrived before check in time and left our cases in the porters lodge/drinks area of reception without any probs. Stayed out shopping all day and dined out for dinner not returning to collect cases and go to our rooms until after midnight. No problems no issues. Again, when it came to booking out our flight was not until early evening, so... more
Good hotel in great location
Arrived with some reservations, given mixed reviews. was pleasantly surprised by the location, an easy walk from waverley station. The reception was very cosy with open fire and easy chairs and check in smooth. The biggest surprise though was the quality of the room, very comfortable and contemporary with neutral decore, flat screen TV, king size bed and quality towels and toiletries etc. Also as I was at the back of the hotel it was quiet. The food was average (ate in bistro on evening) but breakfast was better and service very good. At... more
small,friendly hotel ,good location
My family and I stayed at this hotel at the end of April this year.It is a small traditional hotel situated approximately 10 mins walk away from the rail station. The reception area and hallways have a homely feel. The bedrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.Tea and coffeeemaking and a mini bar came in useful after a full day walking around the city. The hotel has a small Bistro which opens for breakfast and for evening dining [6.30-9.oopm approx] The hotel is in an excellent position for the shops ,theater etc. We had a... more
