Cruised the Caribbean, visited Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore & Gambia during 2005. However a weekend break in Edinburgh was an absolute delight & the icing on the cake. It’s 30 years since I’d been `north of the border` What a beautiful cosmopolitan city. Bustling with warmth & friendliness & they speak English!
The sights and monuments are an absolute delight either `lit up` at night or during the day, we were fortunate to have a heavy frost which enhanced the views and sights.
The journey, by coach, was a delight & has made me fully aware of what is on our own doorstep with fantastic countryside.
There’s so much to see & do we will definitely be returning during 2006.

First time visit to Edinburgh, this hotel is ideal for visiting the castle, & a short walk to tour buses on Waverly bridge, would recommend the guided tour of Mary's kings close an underground tour of original streets, said to be haunted by a little girl! (See how they used to live!)
Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, although I would recommend you ask for a room not overlooking the train station which is across the road and can be a bit noisy at times even with the double glazed windows shut!
