This hotel is so gorgeous and in a beautiful setting with the mountain behind. The beach is exactly what you want, miles of perfect white sand and crystal clear water. Plenty of sunbeds, on and near to the beach or by one of the 4/5 pools, never had to fight for one and clean towels left out each day. All the pools are stunning and not busy at all because most guests are on the beach. We had a deluxe room to guarantee being upstairs, massive big bed, walk in wardrobe, huge balcony with a sofa, table and chairs, Jacuzzi bath! his and hers sinks, separate big shower, everything was spotless and modern. We were left gifts each night on the bed (candles, pens, notebooks etc) and candles were lit so that the room looked and smelt gorgeous when we came back at night. Food was lovely and varied from themed buffets to a fixed menu, all very nice, sometimes a little fancy for me so we went to Obergine, another restaurant on site where meals are discounted or free if you are booked halfboard. Plenty of choice here, Pizza, Pasta, Steak, lamb, all beautifully cooked. Breakfast was a buffet with anything you could want, the views are fantastic too from the main restaurant, straightout over the beach and sea. Free pancakes and waffles in the afternoon at the bar area. Entertainment at night varied from themed nights to bands, all very stylish and cocktails were all good, although pricey. We didn't do any trips with the hotel, just booked a car through the rep for a few days and travelled all over, highly recommend this as the hotel is isolated, which we like anyway. Yes the hotel is expensive for drinks and mini bar etc but being a 5 star hotel it was expected really. We visited a supermarket 10 mins away by car for drinks and snacks for the room.
Would love to go back to Les Pavillons and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mauritius when we do get to return, just need to save up.

We recently got married in Les Pavillons Hotel in Mauritius. All I can say is amazing. When we arrived we were greeted with fresh flower garlands and taken by private taxi to our hotel. We were then taken by BMW to the capital for all the formalities which was hassle free, then on the way home we met the registrar who was then to marry us. The hotel staff, including the wedding co-ordinator were all more than helpful. I made my hair appt on the morning of the wedding and was on the beach sunbathing 30 mins before I went!! The food, the beach, the service was second to none and I would find it very hard to believe if anyone thought any differently. My wedding day was perfect and the ceremony, photos and video was all over in 2 hours. The staff are very helpful but not OTT and will not annoy you if you don't want them to. I even had my sunglasses cleaned while I was sunbathing! Go for it you will not have any regrets.

For anyone who wants a tropical...

For anyone who wants a tropical holiday on a beautiful island, in a Hotel that is small enough to ensure that you are a person and not a number, I could not recommend a better Hotel than Les Pavillons. It was Very Good!
The Hotel blends in to the environment and has the charm of a Boutique Hotel, rather than the ugly huge resort type hotels that fester and despoil some of the rest of the pristine Mauritius coastline, despite being 5 star or not.
We have just returned from 2 weeks shear enjoyment Diving, Touring and just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere that the Hotel has to offer.
Hotel staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive on the whole particularly the 2 Vic's, one the Etoile de Mer Restaurant Manager, and two a waiter who mainly works at La Provence restaurant.
Hotel is probably not suited to teenagers or young singles looking for a rage as it is definitely not that sort of Hotel, and the remoteness of Le Morne area does not allow for a quick dash into town to a night club.
As with everything there is good with bad, and the unfortunate let downs of the Hotel are:
Cost of drinks and Minibar is scandalous 600% mark up on a bottle of water in the minibar, go to the nearest supermarket, and buy your water and basic drink stocks.
Half or Full board meals (Normally buffet style) are not to 4 star hotel standard, the Asian buffet was inedible, and during the peak meal period if food was being prepared on demand, it was more often than not only partly cooked and I do not mean rare!
If you dine at the Le Provence restaurant, you are credited a 10 Euro allowance but only if you have the A La Carte menu, not the Seafood special. However the standard at the La Provence is excellent and highly recommended, we ate there numerous times happily paying the extra to do so.
All prices in the Hotel are quoted in Euros instead of the local currency of Rupees, and the exchange rate is very poor in the hotel.
The only other thing to be wary of which we were not, are the tour canvassers that walk along the beach, they are all very pleasant and if you say no will bid you a pleasant good day and move on.
However one particularly amenable rogue that we got stung by sold us a day trip on a catamaran, enticing us with swimming with Dolphins, snorkelling sailing all drinks, and a huge menu which he rattles off like a Gatling gun!
We had a lovely day on a newish catamaran, leaving from Black River along with a myriad of other various sized cats, however: We left nearly an hour after the other cats, we had no sails only power.
Although we saw a large school of Dolphins as promised and the sea was reasonably flat and all other boats had gone by the time we left, there was never any intention of letting us swim with dolphins. And the vast menu of food turned out to be salad, a piece of very tasty barbecued chicken and smoked Marlin and a barbequed skewer with 2 prawns, all very tasty and adequate.
However the day was somewhat soured as we found out that we like some others had paid 25 Euros each over and above the 50 Euros a person standard rate. So if you encounter him, bargain hard!
To finalise I have given both sides of the coin but want to stress that I highly recommend this Hotel for anyone wanting to get away from it all and relax, and the Mauritians are a friendly and welcoming people!
Thanks you Mauritius and Les Pavillons.

Les Pavillons is paradise and has to...

Les Pavillons is paradise and has to be one, if not THE best holiday we have EVER had (and we have had lots of great holidays to far - flung places). We have just enjoyed the holiday of a lifetime here and have brought back so many wonderful memories of this hotel and the amazingly friendly and kind members of staff and management who make this place so fantastic.
Before we visited Mauritius, we trawled the net looking for reviews of this hotel and came across some comments that were less than complementary. Having now been ourselves, we would say to anyone - do not be put off by any of these reviews as this hotel is truly stunning.
We have just returned from an all - inclusive fortnight in Mauritius, having upgraded to one of the superior rooms looking out onto the spectacularly maintained gardens and towards the sea. We would definitely recommend anyone to do this as the rooms are spectacular. Whilst the standard rooms are also lovely, it is just gorgeous to sit, watching the stunning sunset from these rooms which are situated closest to the shore. In the rooms, the beds are huge and very comfortable and the bathrooms are enormous, with a powerful shower and a nice sized bath. The bathrooms also contain a hairdryer (which was not pointed out in the holiday brochure). The rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy and are visited twice daily by the hotel valets who clean, sort the beds and change the towels.
The food and drinks were of top notch quality - incredibly well presented. The all - inclusive option was well worth it - In terms of the drinks, we particularly recommend the banana coladas which were to die for! Having said this, the house red, rose and white wines were also very good, as was the local Phoenix larger beer.
Breakfast was fab with a range of English and continental breakfasts, fruits, omelettes and crepes.
After breakfast, on the beach, the beach waiters would bring your drinks, pizzas to taste as well as cold towels! They would also make you laugh by squirting you with water from a pumped machine to keep you cool. They would also clean your sunglasses! The service was astounding - (Look out for Brian, a really sweet young boy who works as a beach water who we both fell in love with!)
The lunches (served in the Benitier restaurant) were gorgeous and with being all-inclusive, it was great to eat in a different restaurant at lunch and have a menu to choose a meal from. We loved every meal we ate here, particularly the fresh fish, the steak and the lamb.
Mid-afternoon on the all inclusive package, you could also gorge on crepes (although we were usually so full from lunch that we didn't have room)! They were very nice though.
After sunbathing, a sauna and jacuzzi (all free at the hotel spa) were very relaxing. After getting ready we would enjoy an aperitif in the Tam Tam bar, listening to the background piano music, which was always accompanied by gorgeous nibbles such as dim sum, bruchetta, melon and palma ham, samosas etc . On a couple of occasions, the manager (who was a lovely and charming guy who took the time to speak to all his guests) held a cocktail evening. These events were always accompanied by Sega dancing and fantastic live music.
Evening meals were usually buffet style in the Etoile de Mer Restaurant, although chefs were cooking constantly in view of the guests, hence all the food was piping hot. Each night there was a different theme - Indian, Mauritian, Asian (definitely recommend the teppan yaki), European and Italian. Each night there was also a choice of the most delicious fresh salads and meats cooking on spits - duck, chicken and lamb. Again, cleanliness was a definite priority here as there were enough staff about to ensure this. Sweets were also divine - especially the strawberry tart! Each night there was a new range of sweets to try, plus seasonal fruit salad.
After dinner each night there was a live band, singer or dancing group. All of the shows were exceptionally professional and good fun - especially if you like dancing!
We also did not realise before we visited that the water sports were free on the all - inclusive package. My husband learned how to waterski at Les Pavillons (thanks to the tutelage of the boys at the boat house who were such fun!) He was to be seen whizzing up and down the lagoon most days, improving his new-found skill. The lads would also let me sit on the speed boat, taking photos, etc. Kyaking, wind-surfing, the glass bottom boats, guided snorkelling and pedalos were also available which were good fun too.
All in all, this hotel was fantastic. Anyone who wants to feel pampered in a beautifully maintained, yet friendly and relaxed environment must visit Les Pavillons. We can guarantee you will have an amazing time - Just be prepared to come home half a stone heavier!

This was an all inclusive resort on...

Jun 2006, Mrs Z C Vidler

This was an all inclusive resort on the beautiful Black River part area on the South West coast of Mauritius. The resort is situated in front of the Le Morne mountain, and on the Le Morne plage. Overall we had an amazing stay. We flew to the resort and the island to get married.
The staff were very pleasant and would bend over backwards for you. The standards were very high and reflected the costs of the all inclusive rates.
The only fault I have to make would be that there was not a great deal of choice for vegetarians and dinning sometimes became rather tedious with the same choice offered most nights. The 'all-inclusive' package did not mean all inclusive and we had on several occasions had to go to reception to get items taken off our bill that weren't ours. The staff when it came to the bill and monies owed were very officious to the point of being very rude.
We were presented with a bill during dinner for 160 rupees, which was about £3. We were stunned to not only be interrupted during our meal, but for such a small sum. There was also a breakdown in communication between the Kuoni rep and the hotel desk staff which lead to a rather unpleasant start to out stay. This was rectified quickly but did not able us to relax very easily.
Lastly, the staff at the boat house who were in charge of all the water based activities, did not seem to be trained in first aid. On a snorkel trip out to the reef, one of the party was stung by a stonefish. The skipper of the boat did not seem to know what to do at all, and the situation became very upsetting. The man who was stung was finally taken to hospital but the staff did not seem too bothered.
Apart from that, I would go back, but be more aware of the hidden extras that can and do appear in an all-inclusive package.

Les Pavilions in Mauritius is the ideal location for couples especially those celebrating as special occasion. We actually got married there, it was idyllic, right on the white sandy beach overlooking the Indian Ocean.
The food is excellent, buffet style and occasionally there is waiter service.
The staff at the hotel were polite and friendly, the atmosphere itself was very relaxed but dancing is available in the evening and entertainment.
Mauritius itself is safe and friendly, I recommend you take a taxi into the capital, Grand Baie, you can even do a spot of betting at the races, we even got a hospitality box free of charge.
There are some beautiful places to explore nearby.

We arrived at Hotel Les Pavillons after a long but good flight with Emirates.
We arrived at our Home for two weeks, to be greeted by two members of staff, who welcomed us with lovely cool towels. We were then taken inside and given a cold drink, which was very welcome.
We had to wait a while before we could go to our rooms. So our bags were put into a storage room, while we used one of the communal shower rooms to freshen up and put something cooler on.
We then went and had a dip in the beautiful pool that greeted us. We then had a little look around. What a stunning place this was, we were in heaven. Couldn’t fault it!!!!
Eventually we got to our room. We had a standard room, which we found was perfect. It was very spacious. There was plenty of room. We even had a sofa bed in our room as well.
Don’t worry ladies - there is plenty of cupboard and drawer space. Even for my wedding dress.
The bathroom had a double sink, bath and a big walk in shower. There was also plenty of lighting in there.
Later on we got ready for our first meal at Hotel Les Pavilions. What can I say - everything was perfect. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. Some evenings there were named buffets (Indian, Chinese and Italian). All were very nice, with a huge amount of choice. The sweets were lovely. Everything was presented perfectly. On other nights it was tabl'e de hot'e. Also very nice, with two or three choices of each course. If on any occasion you didn’t like anything, you could have something like steak or chicken.
The gardens at the hotel are kept immaculate by the garden staff. It was a lovely walk from our room to the main hotel.
The backdrop of Le Morne Mountain is just stunning, it is lovely when seen in the brochures, but nothing compared to seeing it for real. It is huge.
I would definitely recommend the water sports, although I only did the parasailing. I am actually scared of heights, but in such stunning surroundings, it was something I had to do. I am really glad that I did. It cost about £18, which I didn’t think was bad.
Lunch was served in the bar/restaurant by the beach with lovely views out to sea. There was also plenty of choice:
There were club sandwiches, steak/chicken skewers, salads, fish, veg, bolognaise, chips. To name a few. Puds again were lovely. Hubby was addicted to the chocolate mousse (which I have to admit was pretty divine). The drinks choice was also very good. We were all inclusive, and found there was plenty to choose from. The wine was lovely. There was a choice of Red, Rose and white. There were also plenty of cocktails, although some you had to pay for.
The beauty salon was superb. I had my wedding make-up and hair done there and the girls were fantastic. So if you are getting married have no worries.
The Hotel does have a couple of shops, but personally I would recommend getting a taxi from the ranch opposite the hotel to a nearby supermarket where you can get anything you want. It was alot cheaper (especially suntan lotion).
We booked our trips from the men walking along the beach. They were fine, and the trips were very good. We went on the catamaran trip, and saw wild dolphins. It was amazing watching them swim alongside the boat.
Our wedding day was perfect. We had a wedding coordinator and she sorted everything out for us, and everything was just perfect on the day. The staff go to so much trouble, not just for weddings but also as a whole.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is in a stunning location, kept immaculate, and has a lovely homely feel about it. It’s not as large as some of the hotels. But I think it was nicer because of that.
