Built in 1887 on the site of Pitfodels Castle this Victorian Mansion House is now a family owned hotel set in 7 acres of wooded grounds yet only 3 miles from the centre of Aberdeen. The hotel bedroooms are of a high standard with a range of styles available based around the original layout of the Victorian House. The public areas are special with stained glass windows on an ornate staircase made of wood. The bar has the original fireplace and guilded fitments and the restaurant features high ceilings with antique paintings and furniture. The hotel is very hold, the original hosue dating back to 1200's. The decoration of the hotel is very in standing with the age, think wooden beams and a big seller. (Ask a member of staff to show you it)
The Resturant is of a nice size and has a friendly atmosphere. All the food is cooked on order and their is a cheifs specallity. Meals are servered from 5:30pm onwards.
The waiting staff are experianced and some of the owners family are involved. So the service is first class.
The a seperate function hall with a small stage and a dance floor, this is large enough to hold a reasonable large function. I beleaive that the hotel caters for weddings and provides buffets.
The hotel has a nice friendly feel to it and has a great atmosphre. You can close your eyes and imagine you have traveled back in time, half expecting Rob Roy or William Wallace to walk in through the doors.
