It's nice to be able to stay in a hotel you know is going to be good quality. Not outstanding, or amazing but good, friendly service and everything is as it should be.
Aberdeen itself has a different feel to alot of other cities, granite dominates the skyline and oil work is a major industry. For culture there is the art gallery, and theatre which has visiting productions and shops range from value stores right up to designer clothes.
My favourite memories of the city are the wide range of restaurants and pubs. I recommend Slains for a gothic feel with good pub food.

We stayed in the Lodges which are run by the Marriott hotel and are situated on their grounds.
As such, you are able to use the hotels facilities (swimming pool, gym, restaurant, etc).
The lodges were self catering although there are shops and butchers nearby where you can buy everything you might need.
The lodges or chalets as they were called are very nice, with an open plan kitchen/dining room upstairs.
The chalet also has a sauna and Jacuzzi bath, so there’s something for everyone!
The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and the food was lovely in the restaurant, if not a little expensive.
