just back from 2 weeks of hell. yavor palace whoever named that got it way wrong. the reception staff unhelpful, most couldn t understand what you were asking or saying to them even the room number, had to use fingers to say room number that how bad their english was.the breakfast was awful unless you like eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried eggs most of the time white still not cooked, french toast, all at the same time every single day for two weeks, toast you had to put through machine at least 3 times to get colour on it by that time anything you had hot was frozen, fruit was actually mouldy or bruised, but in general it was all terrible had to go out for breakfast alot or have early lunch. the hotel entertainment was a quiz once a week with rep, not worth the effort going, karaoke was a sour faced man who sat from 7pm until 3am playing out of date music at its loudest,so much so that we had to keep going down and closing all the doors from that room back to ours as we where on ground floor. the pool was ok except for trying to get loungers near kids pool not alot of room around it, and had to watch kids did not trip on the hose that ran between the two pools, and also the broken ground around the kids pool area. got fed up asking and then shouting at the idiots who thought going for a swim through the night to get lost as they made that much noise, the staff not interested in you if you complained, no security at night to make sure it didnt happen, anyone could have drowned. the place was crawling with ants. bulgaria is not as cheap as made out unless all you want to do is drink but if you fancy eating watch where you go can be a rip off, coffee .50 but if you want milk then its another 2 lev for a spot of it in places. this was only our second holiday abroad but woulnt go to bulgaria again even if it was free, one of my cases was in pieces when i arrived the rep at airport just shrugged and says it happens, the driver of the bus before i even got one was rude but then again so was most bulgarian people i met. to me they want your money but dont see why they should be nice to get it. not for us but the young ones seemed to enjoy themselves that we saw.

Just back from a weeks break in Bulgaria, stayed at the Hotel Yavor Palace great, in the heart of it couldn't be located better. Best place for dinner is defo BROTHERS , every meal seemed better than the last excellent food and good choice. Apartment was great pool view maids in everyday and changed towels daily we where only there a week and bed changed twice. 24hr bar which was good as late when we arrived but still managed to get drink and a tea. Porters are great had a good laugh with them all and there English is great ( put us to shame ). Breakfast was ok but only went the once, Entertainment was pants Karaoke every night and guy's English not so good , Met up with a whole lot of new friends who we will keep in touch with , Would defo recommend to others , Went to nessiebar not my cup of tea but lots of old buildings and stuff if that's your choice. Did horse riding on beach was brill really enjoyed it. If getting tattoo shop around we where quoted £130 lev and got same one for £60 lev . Don't exchange money in streets this money is dummy . To many people trying to pull you into there clubs which after a while get's on your nerves. we had a great holiday and sure you would agree.

I don't know what people are complaining about. I thought this hotel was great. We had a 1 week breakfast pass and found the options in the morning to be good. Toast and tea or a fry up (though the bacon is that weird European stuff). i liked having cereal. Better than the never ending amount of All English's offered on the strip.
The reception staff were good and their English was of a high standard. The bell boy's were always helpful although i did catch them sneaking a peak at my girlfriend a couple of times in her bikini but what guy doesn't!
The pool was clean and surrounding area also clean. The bar was a bit pricey considering bars in the resort were far cheaper.
Our room looked on to the back alley which looked a bit dodgy but we eventually came to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at night with a glass of wine. one thing i would say is try and get a top floor room as these are safer and there was a couple of reports of gypsies knicking things off of people's balconies but i did not actually see this.
The room itslef was always clean thanks to our amazing maid and the tv had a good variety of English channels with evena movie channel for the couple of hours after the beach and before dinner.
The beach is lovely, 21 levs for 2 loungers and a parasol is essential if you are fair skinned like me because you WILL boil. The markets and pubs are pretty standard resort stuff but enjoyable all the same.
The atmosphere at nigth is great and everyone is pretty friendly. The bars have good music and the food we thought was of a high standard. there is a huge selection and the clubs are okay if you are young enough.
i would HIGHLY recomment visiting Nessebur Old town as it is beautiful and the markets there are far superior.
Overall a great wee holiday.
Final word...do NOT take ANY of First Choices offers or excursions as you can get them cheaper elsewhere or they just are not worth going. Do your own thing.

We arrived at the Sunny Beach resort late on Monday 22nd September. First thing was to find one of our suitcases had the combination lock ripped off which rendered the case unable to locked and a a security band around the case had also been removed. Fortunately nothing had been removed. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable but reeked of stale smoke so the room had to be disinfected. The stairwells and corridors were like walking in an old ashtray as smoking was allowed everywhere. There were two bars and it was impossible for non smokers like us to sit without inhaling foul ciggarette smoke. There should have been at least one no smoking area.
The restaurant was clean but the food was of a poor standard and mostly cold with the evening meal consisting of slop or,on one occasion the chicken was uncooked.
It was difficult to find a plate which wasn't chipped and staff used dirty old hand brushes and a dustpan to sweep crumbs off tables in front of guests instead of changing table cloths.
The resort itself has a beautiful beach with an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants and it is cheap to dine out.
However the down side and it is a big downside the place is teeming with theives and robbers making Sunny Beach one of the most unsavoury place I have ever visited.
In broad daylight outside the Yavor Palace Hotel a man was kicked to the ground and had a gold chain ripped from his neck. Only when his wife dragged her nails down the face of one of the robbers did they flee. Another man was held up and robbed at gun point (real or otherwise-as guns and knives are on open sale). Another lady guest at the Yavor, who was on crutches, had her bag snatched in the street. All together there were 7 street muggings in as many days.
My wife and I went on an organised trip to a local restaurant where there was a spectacular floor show which made for an enjoyable evening until we discovered that her gold watch, neckless and earings had been stolen from her handbag which was on the side of her chair and could only have been taken by a member of staff. When attending the local Police station to report the matter we found a queue of British holiday makers reporting thefts from their hotels.
Everyone we spoke to were of the same opinion - none of them wish to go back to Bulgaria. If they wish to attract tourists there is a lot of work required to rid the streets of theives and muggers and a vast improvement required in food standard. Holiday reps must warn people of the dangers lurking on the streets. Worst place we have visited and would not go back even if paid to do so.

Like some of the other reviewers I felt I have to put the record straight. We were dreading staying here after reading some of the reviews but we found the hotel fine. The staff were friendly and we felt safe out and about at all times. Our chambermaid even reminded me to lock our room door. Our room overlooked the pool and was quiet but another guest said his room overlooked the alleyway at the rear and was noisy. The hotel food is a bit samey so we ate out a few nights which was fairly cheap. I would agree that the resort is better suited to younger people and if you enjoy just sitting by the pool or on the beach you won`t be dissapointed. If you want to sample the culture of Bulgaria and have days out then look elsewhere as the excursions are really expensive. I didnt get food poisoning and didnt get hasstled outside the hotel by any ladies of the night (And I waited for hours ha ha) I think the only unavoury characters in the hotel were some of the guests and thats the luck of the draw!!
The only downer on our holiday was 2 screaming kids on the plane all the way there and all the way home. All in all you get what you pay for.

Accommodation was very clean with cleaners tidying rooms on a daily basis. Staff were all friendly and approachable and interacted with holiday makers. The pool was in pleasant enough surroundings but there were too few sun loungers to cope with the amount of guests present. There was a small water park next door where you could hire sun lounger with parasol for approx. £2 per day. This water park had more hours of direct sunlight than Yavor Palace due to large hotels in close proximity. The food on offer was standard fare and there were several choices available for guests.
Sunny Beach is a lively resort with hundreds of stalls and shops selling clothing, leather goods and traditional gifts. The bars were fun and we had particular rapport with the owner and staff in 'Tony's Karaoke Bar'. Choice of eateries was much and varied and in our experience the fare was of a good quality at a very reasonable cost.
The beach was massive and easily accessible from the centre of the resort. The weather was superb with most days exceeding 30 degrees. We were informed that this was higher than normal for September. Skies did cloud over last two days of holiday though.
All in all a great holiday where it was cheap to eat and drink. Not the ideal choice for a quiet break though. Bulgaria changes currency to the Euro next year and this may impact negatively on the value for money that we experienced.

Arrived at 6am in morning, reception staff were very organised and we were checked in quickly. The only thing we found was they take in your passports in exchange for your room key? But after asking for these back they handed them over straight away. our floor was on 2nd level so took the 'small' lift up to room. Room was very tidy and clean, perfectly acceptable for us (me and boyfriend) included a fridge, air con and bathroom was very clean and big enough! Maids came and changed bedding and towels everyday, very friendly and polite. Our room was at front of Hotel and overlooked another hotel but was nice and quiet. Pool was very nice, had a cleaner who picked litter up and tidyied around the pool area most evenings.
Sunny beach itself is quite lively in evenings, and everywhere is 'happy hour' giving you numerous free drinks with your main drink!! The area is not really family friendly as not much for kids to do other than beach and pools. but would definalty reccommend for couples or groups of teenagers / young adults.
We took a trip over to Nessebar on the boat but this didnt really interest us much but would probably suit people more interested in the history of Bulgaria.
Bulgaria is fairly cheap as a whole. only thing we found expensive was papers and magazines but then you do accept this as imported over.
Overall me and partner had a very nice time there and was much better than i was expecting it to be! would definatly reccommend this hotel and resort!!!

Just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel. This was our first time at this hotel, and second time in Sunny Beach. Read previous reviews on the hotel and a little worried about staying there. If you like cheap anbd cheerful, then this is the place for you, however its not so cheerful. On arrival we checked in quickly. The room was fine and looked cleaned. We didnt get a pool view, so we did overlook a casino and erotic bar entrance, however, these did not seem to be operating and if they were, they were back entrances. We were on the third floor so it was impossible for anyone to get into our hotel room as previous reviews have suggested, although ground floor may be different. Breakfast was good, dinner was not, and desserts were ok. Starters were edible also, however if you like lamb, veal and pork, your landed. Maids did come every day to clean the room and reception staff were friendly enough. The reps Laura and Ben weren't up to much, unless you were booking excursions with them, which are far too expensive considering other places such as the Kuban hotel next door offered the same for alot less. The trip to the Blue Mountains - First Choice were charging 95 leva and we paid 68 leva with a different company. We received a four course lunch and visited 2 Bulgarian villages - the same as our hotel were offering for more money. The rest of the holiday the reps would not talk to us and when i asked questions regarding check outs and were we could store our luggage, Laura refused to even look at me. I wouldn't give them the time of day. Sunbathing around the pool was limited and squashed. They also will charge you 2 leva for the mats for sun loungers at the pool which should not happen. No one paid for these. I recommend going to Nessebar, but go via public transport for 1 leva, a taxi will cost you 25 leva each way. Be careful when buying any toys etc that require batteries, ensure the one you buy works before you take it with you. I found Sunny Beach alot more expensive than last year and although you can still buy beer very cheap, the cocktails will eat your money up. Be careful of bars offering shots as they contain no alcohol. Chilli Peppers near the main strip is a good place to eat and have friendly staff. Bulgarians generally are very ignorant people. Eating out isnt overly expensive if you stay away from the main strip, but if you dont like the hotel food then you must budget for eating out. Dont rely on buying suncreams, shampoo, or any toiletries there as they are twice the price than at home. Overall, the weather was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, but dont think we will be back next year.

reading the reviews before we went, we was a bit worried about going and how the hoilday would be. But, after getting back after a week at the yavor hotel, we had a brilliant hoilday, the rooms was reallly reallly clean, all the staff was very friendly and polite, the food weren't fantsatic but it was okay and could be quite nice. We got robbed about 10 minuites away from the hotel, 400 levs, from a man selling fruit, but in the hotel we felt completly safe. People said that there was nothing to do at night time, but in the hotel at night time, the reps (Laura and Ban) were no where to be seen, expect Ban who one night read out a few questions in a quiz, the Dj and bar man were the entertainers and they did a very good job considering the reps was supposed to be helping put. Instead of getting all dolled up at night and drinking vodka in the bar, going out clubbing LAURA. If you are going on hoilday to the Yaour Palace, you are going to have a great time, ignore all the other reviews they are rubbish , you just have to be carefull when your out if your carrying a lot of money with you, but there are safes in the hotel. The hotel is situated in a great place, 5 minuite walk to the beach, few minuites walk from the main town, which is filled with pubs, restruants (very cheap), plently of clothes shops, which are also cheap with top designer clothes. The beach is beautiful, shame you have to be to lie on a sunbed though, Only 7 levs though. Plently of water sports on the beach, we went on the jetskies on our last day and had a great time. The cleaners in the hotel are very friendly, and do a great job of cleaning the room, Bed sheets and towels are changed everyday, some reviews we read said that the cleaners had taken things from the rooms and clamied that items in the room had been broken, but we left cameras, money, phones all our valubles, in the room and NOTHING was taken. I dont believe for one minutie believe people was wrongly blamed for breaking items in the room becasue we bloked the sink, and nothing was said about it, people ovbiously had broken things for them to be charged for paying for them. Over all we had a fantatic hoilday and i am sure everyone else who goes there will also.

Before going the reviews made me really dread going on holiday. But the hotel isnt that bad. Its not the ritz, but the rooms are clean and the people are fairly friendly. The food isnt great, we only had b&b which i would advise as the food had bad reports, although none of the food anywhere there was really great. It was in a good location for getting about and going out in the night. Sunny beach is a bit seedy and the beaches are a bit busy and cloged up with sun loungers and umbrelas. BUt overall it was okay, nessebar is much quieter and peaceful, nice restaurants overlooking the sea there. My bigest piece of advice to you is DONT GO ON THE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE DAY it is absolutely a waste of time and money, they waste lots of time driving the long way round and showing you sights by the time you get there you spend 45 mins doing activities ( and you dont even get to ride a horse someone walks you around in a circle!) Complete waste of money! Khans tent was good though, and bourgas is worth a visit though a bit run down.

My family and i have just had 2 lovely weeks here rooms were big clean and kept tidy there were a few things you could off picked on, All staff were friendly to us but i heard several reports about the pool attendant being a bit off ,and he didn,t like people sitting on the sun beds after 6.00 when the pool closed.Food was lovely after expecting i don,t know what after reading some off the reviews i was pleasantly surprised plenty off choice ,mainly stews and stuff but all was tasty ,salads 2 different soups, fresh fruit, and dainty bulgarian desserts ,but the amount off kids who just got a plate off chips and croquet potatoes was unbelieveable it sadens me what the hell do they eat at home burgers and takeway pizzas? the waiters shirts could off been a bit cleaner and they did seem a bit lazier when geri or a another blond hair lady wasn,t around, and you knew when they were because the breakfast chef put his hat on.but they seemed all very nice.food could off been hotter but being served in bain=maries with lids off constantly it is hard to keep warm unless you have a fast turn over off food.bulgaria isn,t now as cheap as it was and tourist things are getting expensive sunbeds ,mini golf, but the buses are cheap food isn,t that bad and lager is cheaper than water and so are fags so your quids in if your going for things that are bad for you..British and there sun beds around the pool was a bit off an issue with people getting up at the crack off dawn just to place towels down and even took it in turns to towel mind during breakfast because reception have been known to take them off.but some people still did it and one family went off for the day to nessebar left towels on beds just so they would be the sun when they come back.selfish....now the reps or (company salespersons) i would call them because they only seem interested in selling there over priced trips or pre booking your tickets home.the lad was always about even after hurting his arm but he didn,t fill you with confidence and i think people were treating him as a easy target if anything went wrong because he was nice, but laura dodds only saw at welcome meeting and a couple off times in restaurant eating but in own clothes....Sunny beach it self is o.k but what i would call blackpoolish flashing lights people stopping you to get you in their restaurants knock off fake goods and woman dancing on tables ,but with the mafia element you did feel safe even if their was the odd pick pocket and gipsy hanging about..and what amazed me was most hotels had 7 things attached to them pool ,supermarket, casino, tattooist, medical center, massage palour and sex shop...well something for everyone heh..

Me and my husband just got back from staying in yavour palace, our room was on 4th floor the room was very clean and spaceous ,shower great, balcony overlooking pool so i was very happy. The down side! breakfast! not that good, after 2 days i didn,t bother and ate out for breakfast. The staff on reception and in the bar were ok very polite but the guy who served at the poolside bar everyday was very rude all the time. ,i booked a trip with the rep to Khans tent excellent night i would recommend it. Overall very happy with hotel.
