Holiday Villas

We stayed at Holiday Villas for three days in March of 2005. It was about what we had expected, nothing fancy but a good value. It's just a short drive to Disney and other area attractions and they offer a shuttle to Disney for those who don't want to drive. There are plenty of restaurants and stores near the hotel which is helpful. We had a three bedroom condo. There were two twin beds in one room, a queen bed in one room and a full-size bed in the other. One of the two couches was a foldout (nobody slept on this so I can't comment on it's comfort level). The kitched has a large fridge, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and stove. Plenty of cupboard space for food, etc. They do supply dishes, pots and pans, silverware. There was a washer and dryer in the condo (with soap). Condo had two tvs with cable, both worked well. We would stay there again if we were in the area. If you'll be at various theme parks during the day and not spending much time at your hotel (you don't need a fancy pool etc), then this is a good place to stay.

I was a bit concerned since I read the reviews after booking our stay but it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews. It definitely was not as nice as what was described on the internet. Units were a bit outdated and needed some major cleaning and air fresheners. Sofa bed's are never comfortable but this one was the WORST. Pool was decent but small. A couple positives... We made several calls to maintenance which were all handled in a prompt, courteous manner. Location was very convenient to restaurants, Disney and the airport. Probably would not stay here again until renovations are made.

Nice place once you get there, but making the reservation and getting directions to the office was a total nightmare! 1st off I called their 800# and got the rudest reservation clerk I have ever spoken to, she was unprofessional and rude and acted as if she could care less about me or my booking. It was like pulling teeth to get her to make my booking, she acted very disintrested. When I asked her for directions she told me to refer to their web page, she basically told me she was done spending time on me. I finally had enough of her and her bad attitude and asked to speak with the manager, she very rudely told me that SHE was the manager and hung up! I wanted to cancel my booking, but my husband wanted me to keep it. Her name was Lisa and they really should fire here, she has no customer service skills what so ever! The morning of our visit I called for directions and guess who answered the phone, the wonderful manager, this time she was a bit more friendly, but here directions were so bad we spent hours trying to find the hotel, fianlly another call to the hotel and a man answered the phone and explained that I was searching for a check in center, not the hotel. He was personable and sounded like he cared about the customer. Perhaps they should ask him to replace the manager Lisa. His name was Jake I think. Once we got there the place was real nice, and the staff at the desk was wonderful. Next time I will book it via the internet to avoid speaking with that rude manager.

We stayed here the first two weeks of January 2005 in the middle of a heat wave - 80 degrees each day! The accomodation was perfect for us - plenty of space and the freedom to come and go whenever you like - not cramped in a single hotel room. The villa was well equiped and nicely decorated if a little tired around the edges. We would go here again and are seriously thinking about buying one! If you get the chance to go to Blue Springs National Park to see the Manatees in the wild - go - it was amazing.

Great place, easy to find and very close to all the Disney attractions. Disney bus shuttle very helpful, very nice staff, well-equipped kitchen and clean surroundings. I would recommend this resort!

We just returned from a stay at the Somerset Villas and found our 3 bedroom villa to be in desperate need of updates. The tub was chipped and the bathroom and kitchen vinyl tile is yellow from age. All the appliances were on their last leg and the stove door was nearly impossible to open let alone close. Each night of our three night stay we were awakened by a car alarm going off. Not a good sign. Stray cats roam the site and we were greeted on our arrival by a racoon going through the dumpster. We stayed here because it looked so inviting on the internet site. We will be going back in January with our children but will not go back to Holiday Villas.

You are here seeking free advice so please take mine. Save yourself a headache and go anywhere else but here. Let me tell you my tail so you can laugh at my misfortune: We arrived late at night and checked in without any problems. Upon arrival to the unit the problems began. No electricity, the house was pitch black. I carry a flashlight in my car so I was able to find the breaker and turn on the fuses. When I did turn them on more than 1/2 the light bulbs were burnt out and some rooms were left in the dark. I called the front desk and they informed me maintenance was gone for evening and there was nothing they could do. I drove to Publix Supermarket purchased and replaced a few of the light bulbs. Next problem, no cable. Ever been on a trip with children and no TV? The world stops there for them and hell begins for you. I reported the problem to the front desk. Again "nothing we can do". I requested them to please have someone come by in the morning and check it out. 7:00 AM: The maintenance man knocks on the door and takes one look at the cable outlet and comes to the conclusion it was not the cable connection, it is the wiring in the wall. The maintenance man tells me the cable company will be coming by to fix the problem that same day and they would entire the premises while we were out visiting the parks. They entered the premises to fix the cable, but unfortunately they found nothing of interest in the wall unit so nothing was repaired. Instead they took the liberty to inspect our suitcases and personal belongings by moving things around. I called the front desk and they gave me plenty of attitude, so I drove over to the office to discuss the service and he said, “ I could careless about this job or you visit.” My family and I checked out the next day and went to the Marriott in Blue Lagoon. I was able to reach the General Manager and tell her about my stay. I requested a refund and was given a full one for the nights not stayed and a partial for the one I did stay. They did offer me a complementary stay for two nights, I politely declined.

This condo was very nice. The three bedroom fit the whole family with plenty of space. The kitchen was well equipt. It was clean and the staff were nice and helpful. There were two small problems. The pool was small and crowded and always too warm. Also, the shuttle to Disney was late and the driver rude. The villas are very nice and a good place to take a family.

Our family of 5 stayed in a 3 bedroom villa in Somerset from June 20-26th. We were originally assigned a villa in another area but requested another villa because it needed some work. Once we moved into the second villa I found the refrigerator to be quite dirty so I bought cleaning products and thoroughly cleaned the entire kitchen. I informed the property management office about this. They were apologetic and promised to speak to the head housekeeper, however they did not offer to send a housekeeper over to re-clean the villa. The pool was small and I did not like the fact that you have to pay for the internet access and playstation games in the clubhouse. If I would have known that beforehand I would have just rented a house. Although the staff at the property management office were friendly and helpful, it would not be enough for me to consider staying at these villas again.

My family of 5 stayed at the Holiday Villas (Villas at Somerset) from May 5th to May 11th. First the good. It is easy to get to the Disney parks, 10 to 12 minutes tops. We reserved a 2 bedroom unit for $99 (3 br were $109) then called to ask for a unit with computer for $10 per day more (no printer included). We ended up with a 3 bedroom unit with computer for $109. Very nice to have washer and dryer in unit for nightime use. Pool is small but well laid out. Units were well cleaned but did show some signs of wear. Units are spacious, kitchen appliances were worn but servicable, mattresses are better than most hotels but fitted linens will not stay on. The electric can opener was junk, take your own handheld! Safe is an extra $2.00 per day, ask for directions at check in or you will have to go back to the rental office. If you are making any longdistance calls USE A PHONE CARD OR CELL.
