Island Paradise
from Julie071
We have just returned from 2 weeks of complete relaxation in Mauritius and can't wait to go back. Although only 2 stars rating, the Coin de Mire far exceeds your expectations. Reception staff greeted us on arrival with wet towels for our hands and wonderful, flower decorated fruit cocktails. From then on, nothing was too much trouble - all the staff were friendly and took time to remember our names and our likes in both the bar and restaurant. The food was typically Creole / French and always in good quantities but did become a...

Would never go back
from brendaEnglanduk
My husband and I stayed for three weeks in this hotel, the reason was for my birthday. Never having stayed in a two star hotel before I now know what the saying 'you get what you pay for' means. The main complain was the restaurant, what they did to the food I can't imagine, after four days we could'nt eat there any longer and travelled into Grand Baie every night. Most of the staff were really miserable, everything was too much trouble. Food was served from 19.00 to 21.30 but if you were not at a table for the first sitting it was...

Management response from Coindemire
Dear TripAdvisor member
Thank you for your comments.
It is naturally disappointing to hear that we did not meet your expectations.
Our Hotel and food is well received by many of our guests and I am sorry that food was not to your taste.
Although I can appreciate that during your stay we had rainy evenings, coupled with the aftermath of Gamede, which did not facilitate the service in our open restaurant but that is no reason not to assist in a warmer friendlier way.
I wish you could have voiced out your disappointment during your stay as my team and I would have been pleased to help you.
It is nice to hear that you have enjoyed the wildlife and the gardens around the hotel as we take great pride in our surroundings.
Please rest assured that we will take your criticisms seriously. They will be used by our teams to improve.
Best regards Stephan

We, being myself, Mike and Lorraine spent three beautiful weeks at The Coin de Mire Hotel over Christmas and New Year, in the absolutely romantic setting of Grand Baie. The hotel is small in comparison with others around the island but you certainly receive the personal, individual and outstanding hospitality all round. Rooms are of high quality and always serviced and comfortable. Entertainment is provided for you every night and all meals served are of absolute quality and high standard, giving a wide variety at every...

Loved the place
from paw2222
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Coin De Mire. Considering the hotel is graded as 2 star this really doesn't do it justice. The hotel is magnificent and the service and staff were very good. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel but we did for a couple of trips. The trip to the botanical gardens is well worth a vist and the trip to Curepipe is worth going to as well! Gran Baie is only a 10 minute taxi ride away and there is plenty to see and do there as well. My wife...

Beautiful surroundings
from williamsurrey
Coin de Mire Hotel was small enough to be very personal and the staff, including the Manager, soon got to know us by name. The two storey acocmmodation was wonderfully set-off by the superb gardens, which were raked and well tended every day, as was the beach front opposite the Hotel. The pools were ideal for sun-bathing (no competition for the beds!) and cooling off when guilt took over as a result of lack of physical activity. Drinks at the bar were superb and we enjoyed the food, particularly breakfast and lunch. The rooms were very...

Honeymoon Bliss!!!
from Bellaxx
We went to the Coin De Mire Hotel for 3 weeks on our honeymoon and were a little worried about the kind of holiday we would have as it was the cheapest in the holiday mag!? We can honestly say that we had the most amazging time!!! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was great (we only ate out once in the 3 weeks that we were there) and the beach was heavenly!!! The room was also clean and comfortable with the biggest bed that we had ever seen! and the weather was great too, which was a bit of a bouns as it decided...

Much better than one would expect of a two star hotel
from Belindas-Mum
The entrance to the hotel does not at first sight inspire confidence, however once beyond the immediate entrance the hotel is, without doubt, impressive for a two star property. The gardens are lovely and kept immaculate by a team of gardeners. The rooms overlook the gardens with the sea beyond. There is a road between the hotel and the beach but it is not difficult to cross onto the beach where there are sun loungers, umbrellas and pedalloes, kayaks (single and double) and a glass bottom boat which goes out twice a day, all free to hotel...

Thanks for responding
from Buldog
I wish to state that I did a review on your website regarding this hotel,(see not a good experience) Since listing this review the manager of this establishment has corresponded with me to aplogise about our bad experience. Even though he did not agree with all of the points that I raised he was willing to accept that perhaps a few of my points were relevant. I think that the mere fact that he did respond must be congratulated and the outcome of this appears that we were sold a deal by our travel agent which did not suit our...

Impressed!
from molari
Very impressed. The staff were all excellent and gave excellent service. Veggie options at evening meal good (plus on the one day it wasn't, they did something for me extra) Rooms were very good - my "basic" room still had aircon (different sites state different things about no aircon, but mine did) Grounds were beautiful, beach is much closer than you'd think (nearer to my room than most "beachfront" hotels i have been in) Beach isn't the best for basic swimmers as the first bit of seafloor is a bit muddy due to the boats,...

Perfect
from ijs9
We stayed at the Coin de Mire in the first two weeks of September. Its a perfect time to go, not too busy and only one rainy day in two weeks with 25c+ temps. It is a superb little hotel, with very friendly and attentive staff especially in the bar and restaurant areas. Take the all inclusive package as it is excellent value for money with a wide choice of buffet fare and drinks. The rooms wouldn't be the best you have stayed in but considering it is only a 2/3 star, it has everything you would expect and is very clean, tidy and quiet. Take...

Coin De Mire is a good place to stay if you are on a bit of a budget. The complex was clean and tidy. The grounds were very well kept. The entertainment was good, food was average. The spa they had on site was a disappointment. There is a public beach across the road which... more
