Excellent Location, and lovely hotel

"Stayed in the Legacy Flacon between the 16th to 18th of Dec. Upon reading reviews of the hotel I rang prior to our arrival and asked for a quiet room in the new part of the hotel. New part of hotel was superb, our room was modern and looked newly refurbished. Lovely bathroom, huge bed, and a flat screen TV. Cannot fault the rooms. Breakfast was quite good, you can either have a traditional breakfast or buffet style. Hotel had a lovely log fire on all day (very christmassy). The location was superb, in the centre of town. The hotel also has free parking. Didn't need to touch the car because of the superb location. Overall a lovely stay, would definately visit this hotel again, just make sure you request a room in the new part of the hotel and im sure you will find the hotel good value for money."

Not a happy experience

"Hotel rooms in the old part of the hotel do not have showers and all the fittings are very tired and in need of upgrading. Stayed a Saturday night in room 305 which was above a disco (a function that night)so loud the floor shook! Duty manager moved us to a room that was quiet but not a room that could have been let regularly to the public as it was in dire need of refurbishment. The public parts of the hotel are full of character but the room we stayed in was vastly overpriced for its quality. This is not value for money."

Lovely historical location

"We spent one night in this hotel, using it as a base to explore Stratford. The location was excellent and we were given a room in the old part of the building, which, although small, was charming.

The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have tea and coffee making facilities. The shower pressure was fine and they included extra pillows in the wardrobe.

As it was old, there were beams in the ceiling - be careful if you're tall! Both the room and the bathroom were clean.

The breakfast was really good - buffet with cereal, fruit and juice and the waiting staff took orders for a cooked breakfast when you sat down.

Really enjoyed our stay and we would stay again if we were in the area.

Generally OK - great location

"We stayed at the Legacy Falcon with friends on 15th September. We had rooms 454 and 458. On the whole this is a nice hotel in a perfect location. Young lady on check-in was polite and helpful. The breakfast was buffet style for the cereals and continental stuff, plus the waiter comes to take your order for a cooked breakfast. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very efficient, friendly and attentive. There is a nice well kept garden. Bed was exceptionally comfortable, and although our room overlooked the street it wasn't too noisy even with the window open. Bar prices were a little high - over £4 for a glass of wine. The room was clean but the window frames were horribly dirty, especially the bathroom one which was mouldy - probably because the shower is right next to the window. The bath had not been cleaned properly and the bathroom had lots of holes in the tiling where things had been taken off the walls and was therefore in need of a bit of refurbishment. The communal areas in the garden block looked like they had not been vacuumed for ages - bits everywhere. That did not give a very good first impression. However these things did not spoil our stay and we had a comfortable night and a good time in Stratford."

A Weekend away Disaster

"Arrived Thursday Night. Hotel undergoing refurbishment, workmen start at 7:00 am friday.

Room serviced but carpet not cleaned, rubbish not cleared and bed only partly made. Complained.

Saturday, men at work, later start today.

Food variety greatly reduced but prices incresased. An increase in prices in the bar and Food has not been combined with an increase in value for money.

Staff, Northern Europeans friendly, efficient but lack language skills. UK staff surly and indefferent. Bar manager did not ask what you wanted, looked at you and waited.

Have stayed at the Hotel several times in recent years. New ownership has changed the experience from very good to appaling

Good value but in dire need of refurbishment

"Just come back from a two day stay at the Falcon. Overall this hotel offers good value for money but there are some downsides. Firstly this place is long overdue a complete refurbishment. We stayed in the "new" part which looks as if it was added on sometime in the sixties. I don't think the rooms have been decorated since as ours was quite shabby although reasonably clean. The bathroom was tiny with wallpaper peeling from the walls. It was also very noisy since the room (205) seemed to be next to some sort of ventilator fan which ran all night. Staff were friendly enough and as usual these days most came from Eastern Europe. We had a major problem with the Restaurant manager who would not let us into the restaurant for dinner because it was 8.40pm (apparently last orders for food are at 8.30pm) so we ended up going elsewhere. The bar is in the old part but is a complete rip off. If you want a drink go to the Windmill pub down the road.

On the good side there was a pleasant garden, It's in a great location with everywhere within walking distance, and it has a large free car park. However even though the prices were reasonable I think I would go elsewhere next time.

Strange sort of service

"Unlike other correspondents I was impressed with my room, a large twin with a couch and table and cheerful red furnishings - it was also quiet, being in the newer part of the hotel far from the creaking floors, dripping taps and live bands that have worried other guests. The location was perfect. What was astonishing - and a really bad example of old-style British service - was that when I arrived at 11.30am, ready to go to the 1pm play at the RSC, I was told I couldn't leave my luggage there. The room wasn't ready - well, fair enough - but according to the receptionist the only space for luggage is behind her desk and it was full, so I'd have to take my case with me. At the same time she gave me a check-in form and seemed really surprised when I said I couldn't see any point in checking in at that moment. When you are paying nearly a hundred pounds for one night's accommodation, as I was, I think you can expect better than that - surely there must be a corner of a conference room where you could put a small bag. As it was, the very friendly woman at the RSC cloakroom happily took it for the grand sum of 20p, but it left me feeling disgruntled."

Loved The Falcon

"The Falcon Hotel (or Legacy Falcon) was wonderful. Such a great location, and great value for money. The hotel has two sections, one from 400 years ago, one from this century. We opted for the older one and were not disappointed. It was very Tudor-like, as it has been preserved well. The room was small, but they were small back then. We had a private bathroom with shower (though some are bath only).

Breakfast wasn't too bad, both a cold and hot portion are provided, but it was buffet instead of cooked to order. Still fine to get you going in the morning.

Location on this hotel was perfect. I highly recommend.

Brilliant

"We were in Stratford upon Avon to watch King Lear. The location of the hotel was perfect for this and for exploring the town. With the added bonus of having its own carpark.

The room we were allocated was lovely and spacious and had been recently refurbished to a high standard.

We would definitely stay here again

Pros and cons - a mixed bag.

"This hotel isn't awful, but certainly isn't the quaint sort of accomodation the photographs promise. On the plus side, the location is fantastic, as it is quite literally in the city centre and all the major sites are easily accessible. Breakfasts are good, staff generally efficient, parking ample and the price reasonable. On the downside, our room (303) - initially very pretty in terms of period decor - was located right next to the ventilation unit/extractor fan, which provided a literally continual electronic drone for the 3 days of our stay. The bed was shot, very uneven and the mattress clearly in no way supportive. And finally, the bathroom, although spacious (unlike the experiences of another traveller) was a little on the shabby side, with mould creeping in and spider webs in the eaves.

So, a real mixed bag - an excellent example of you get what you pay for....
