" My girlfriend and I travelled with... "

My girlfriend and I travelled with Tapestry for a 1 week holiday in Corfu. We flew from Heathrow. The only people on the plane were other Tapestry holidaymakers. There was a tour rep at Heathrow who ensured everyone checked in smoothly, which was nice.

Te airoplane food was nice and edible and we were met at the other end by a very nice holiday rep. The bus to take us to our accommodation was air conditioned.

Corfu is a beautiful Island and Liapedes is a lovely quiet authentic Greek village by the sea. The accommodation had bed, toilet, shower and cooking facilities which tucked away neatly into a cupboard so it was hidden from view. It wasn't a full on kitchen, just facilities and some space to cook in, but a worktop, fridge-freezer, crockery, cutlery, utensils, kitchen sink, tea towels, cups, kettle and electric hob were all provided. It was great for preparing breakfast, lunch and picnics. We cooked Carbonara on one night too, so if you wanted to you could eat in every night. Rooms have air con and are cool throughout the day. There was a medium-small pool which was clean at the apartments but we went to the beach or touring everyday. The rooms were very tidy and there was a maid service.

There was a lovely beach nearby but you had to walk through a forest over a hill to get to, but that ensured that not many people could get to it so it was unspoilt. Other than that people could take a boat there. Very safe for swimming, but a little stony when you first enter the water.

At the very top of the village in the market square through the impossible narrow streets was a delicious bakery where bread and croissants could be bought first thing in the morning. There was scooter and car hire nearby and 3 mini markets so it was easy to stock up on provisions. The nicest restaurant was Angelo's where they give you a complimentary drink every night with your meal. Down by the sea side was another restaurant (the only one on the beach) which did good steaks.

On Corfu there is plenty to do all around the island an in the main town itself.

1 weeks holiday for 2 people was £200 each for flights, transfers and accommodation. Well worth it. Would definitely go back. Perfect for a quiet holiday. Great value, clean, friendly helpful staff and very relaxing.

" Just back from a week in Liapades and... "

Just back from a week in Liapades and the Arias Studios.
Reading the other reviews, this is a very true reflection of the Arias studios and the Village/Beach. We traveled 15 - 22nd May and so the season had not yet fully started.

The weather was warm (high 70's low 80's) though there was a cool breeze. When the sun went down, you needed a jumper in the evening!

The village square is worth the climb to see all of the locals (men) passing the time and having a drink.

We had lunch most days at the Elly Beach Taverna, which was worth not walking back up the hill and paying a little more for the views.

The best evening meals we had at the Village Taverna. Exceptional quality and taste. Food ranges from Pizza, mixed grills, and pasta with a few vegetarian options. Well worth a visit. Most meals with 1/2 liter of wine and 3 beers, starter and main courses were rarely over £15. At these prices, why bother cooking - get out and sample the local food.

Would also recommend (too) the Cricketers Taverna (Down near the beach) on a Thursday Night for the music.

Bike hire is cheap at 10 Euro for a day, as buses are infrequent (7am and 2pm) and a long walk to the other more frequent bus stop.

The apartments are clean and tidy, and an excellent place to either sit and relax, or to base your expeditions from if you are an energetic type.

The "Space Disco" at the bottom of the hill on the way in appeared to be no longer used (?) if this is the disco referred to earlier.

I would also recommend this as a relaxing holiday - that's what we went for and was not disappointed.

" If you're looking for a quiet break... "

If you're looking for a quiet break this place is just gorgeous...

Apartments themselves are good - although you can't cook a meal on the little kitchen (in a cupboard) its adequate for boiling a kettle and keeping your beer cold - beds comfy, balcony with nice view over pool and to the sea.

Pool was very clean, massive and as there's only 15 apartments in this facility often empty.

Good restaurants within walking distance (go up the hill to the Aspros Taverna on the right – very, very worth the climb).

Great beaches and if you're up to the hike there's a number of really good walks to more isolated beaches.

Unfortunately due to thunderstorms we lost the power twice and water for most of one day, but the team at the studios and at Tapestry were really helpful.

Oh, and if you do get a thunderstorm while you're there - relax and enjoy the view - they're magnificent.

" Have just returned from a wonderful... "

Have just returned from a wonderful week at the Arias Studios.

The studios whilst quite small were well equipped and had the most comfortable pillows I’ve ever found in the Mediterranean.

The kitchen was 'compact' but was fine to prepare breakfast and lunch. More space can be made by sliding the cupboard doors back but I didn’t discover that until our last night.

The cleaners were great - even though we couldn’t understand a word - and the onsite staff very friendly.

The pool area was extremely clean and the pool lovely ,although every studio was occupied it was never busy around the pool.

Being August it was extremely hot on the beach but there was usually a nice breeze around the pool.

The main beach is pebble /shingle with 2 sunbeds and an umbrella costing 7.5 euros.

We didn’t try any of the boat trips/water taxis from the beach but did hire a canoe for a leisurely paddle out in the bay - you can go a long way without getting out into open sea.

The resort and the apartments are on a very steep hill so it’s good exercise before enjoying the food. Good (free if you’re having dinner) Greek evening at the Cricketers

" Went here 2 weeks after the previous... "

Went here 2 weeks after the previous review.

Accommodation was very good, Aircon inclusive, and working very well. Yes kitchen isn’t much but perfect for a cup of tea and eggy bread. (cheap bread in mini markets is not good for much else).

Pool is very good, plenty of space around it and the poolside bar is brilliant and cheap!.

short walk down to the beach (there is two, the second is hard to find and full of Germans) Good restaurants within 5 mins walk, at least 7. Car hire 2 mins walk, scooter hire 2 mins walk. Most travel insurance will cover scooters up to 125CC, we hired 80cc and with the two of us we travelled the steepest hills on the island without a problem. Parking is easier as well.

Mini/supermarkets within 2 mins walk for all your supplies.

We recommend the Olive wood workshop and also the Leather workshop (might be closing down) on the way to Corfu town (you’ll see them on the way from the airport on the left hand side)

Fantastic time the whole week, although middle July is a bit hot.

Overall, perfect accommodation, still being improved (new front doors while we were there). Kind staff (English woman at the bar) Suitable for everyone. Try to obtain the top floor apartments, brilliant view across the bay and sea. (second floor, apartments 11 to 16. first floor probably ok too, ground floor will have little views over the sea.

Will go again. (but not at the brochure price, but at a bargain as we did)

" I have just returned from spending a... "

I have just returned from spending a week with a friend at the Arias Studios. We booked through lastminute.com, but our agent was Tapestry who have exclusive use of the Arias Studios.

Although the block is 15 years old, when we stayed it was only the second week that the block had been open as self-catering studios, previously it has been used as overflow for a local hotel. Therefore the owners were still making adjustments to the accommodation. While I was there they replaced the pillows and safes were standing by the following week.

For what we required from the holiday (relaxation, a pool, a few cheap restaurants and some peace and quiet) Arias did the job perfectly. The area is lovely and amazingly underdeveloped. There are an amazing amount of Tavernas within walking distance and all reasonably priced. We particularly enjoyed the Michalmas (where you can have a cheese omelette for 1.95 Euros!) and the slightly more expensive Cricketers. The local beach is quiet and the ones you visit on the boat trips quieter still!

On the downside, Arias Studios aren’t studios, they are hotel rooms with the space opposite the bathroom that is normally a wardrobe having been turned into a small kitchenette. You can’t really cook on the electric hob, but I can’t imagine why you would want to with such an abundance of cheap Tavernas.

Although the block was fully booked there were no problems with noise except on the last night when a local all-night disco swings into action (be warned, no sleep that night!!) and we often had the pool to ourselves all day as the other people went off to find beaches or on excursions.

Tapestry seem to be an excellent company. There were bottles of water on the coach when we arrived and a welcome pack of bread, cheese and wine in the rooms, however I think the current price (£599) is perhaps a little steep. If you can get it for less though (as we did!!) it’s well worth a trip!
