Not acceptable!
We booked directly with the hotel a good month before our visit (and paid for it) and to be honest I expected better. Our double room was so small that you could not put a bag/case anywhere and we had difficulty passing one another around the bed and I've got bruises to prove it (I would have moved the chair if there'd been a spare inch). We only had a shower room and that was tiny too! Give room 401 a definite miss as it is not an acceptable double room. We stayed 2 nights and had no hot water at all (not even warm) one evening nor the... more
Needs management attention
On the positive side: the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. We had no problem checking in a couple of hours ahead of time; service was polite, although not over-friendly. However, there were a huge number of minor issues that detracted from any sense of style or value for money. Almost all of these could be addressed with a little attention from the management. The front door of the hotel does not open or close properly; the revolving door has been partly dismantled and looks a mess. The shower in our room was... more
what a lovely hotel
me & my wife stayed here for only one night on october 7th 2006 we were in brighton to celebrate a friends 40th birthday, the hotel from the outside is nice & fresh looking, unlike some of the other hotels on the seafront, inside the hotel it could do with losing the flowery armchairs in the lobby(very eighties i thought) but staff were on hand as soon as we went up to check in desk and were happy to help with anything, only thing they never told us was that there is a bigger car park at the rear(we had to leave our car in... more
Very nice hotel
Stayed at the Ramada Jarvis for one night on 7th October. When we rang beforehand to confirm the booking we were told that check in was at 2pm but we arrived early and the front desk were very accommodating and checked us in straight away. Our room was in the newer part of the building, a bit difficult to find on the second floor as there was no lift and plenty of right and left turns but when we finally found the room it was very nice and couldnt complain. The bed looked comfy (and it was) and the bathroom was spotless although the... more
Just Okay
Room was somewhat clean and the front desk was helpful. Furnishings and appearance are a wee bit outdated. Probably nicer hotels in the area, just as there are probably worse hotels as well. It was just Okay.
Seen better days but fundamentally ok
Stayed here in September 2006 for two nights - second time I'd stayed there. It's a little bit shabby but the staff are pleasant and helpful and the room, if small, was to an acceptible standard. Bit of a problem getting served for breakfast, but food itself was fine.
Treated as a Suspect
We stayed in this Hotel because it was the only one with a completely adapted disabled room free at the time we wanted. The lobby was in a very shabby state though I noticed that the corridors were being repainted and the rooms were of a good standard though without airconditioning. The first thing which surprised us was the fact you cannot cancel bookings, no matter how long in advance, without paying minimum 10ukpounds a head - more if under 7 days in advance. We had to pay for the whole stay in advance as well! As soon as we... more
Fantastic Service
Having read mixed reviews about this hotel, I was a little worried. There was no need - we arrived at 11.30am and asked at reception if we could leave our bags until check-in at 2pm 'Your room is ready and waiting for you' said a cheerful and welcoming receptionist. She asked if we had a good journey and then familiarised us with the hotel and its facilities. First impressions are so important and the reception staff at Ramada Brighton are first-class. Our room was one of the recently refurbished ones and was of a very good... more
There are far better options in Brighton
This hotel is in desperate need of a full renovation. Some attempts have been made but it's still a rabbit warren of poorly laid out rooms and old fashioned long corridors with old carpets. Our room was extremely small - barely big enough for the bed. Some attempts of renovation had been made, but this was spoilt with ancient furniture and old curtains that didn't match anything else. The bathroom was new, but was so poorly designed it was difficult to shave/put in contact lenses. Customer service was bland, no one made an effort... more
