This hotel is absolutley awful, if I could rate it as '0' I would. Next time I go to Brighton I'd rather rough it in a cardboard box on the streets! The staff were rude and unhelpful none of which could speak much english. When we got out of the lift, the door to our room looked as if it had been kicked in. The room itself smelt absolutely grim to say the least.....the bathroom (if you could call it that) was the size of a shoe box with fag burns all over the upvc sink along with some rather classy red nail polish, as for the mirror, it was so water stained that you couldn't even see in it!! The bedroom was a 70's throwback. The sheets were disgraceful, all stained and not very inviting at all. As for the blanket over the top, well what a cheek, as if it was going to cover up the evidence. For anyone who says the breakfast was great, if our rooms were anything to go by, good luck on the breakfast front, just don't think about the kitchen when you are tucking in. My advice to the hotel is, fit a decontamination chamber by the front door so that you can clean yourself down properly before leaving possibly the worst hotel I have ever set my eyes on., failing that, bulldoze the place. ******Please, anyone reading this, do not waste you money on this shabby, dirty, hugely overpriced dump****** Go and stay in a b&b, honestly its worth the risk!

When someone decided to name this...

Sep 2007, Miss C Young

When someone decided to name this hotel 'Quality' they clearly had no dictionary lying around and this place was horrendous and a complete rip-off. It's in a good location but surely that fact alone cannot override cleanliness and good. All I was left with when we checked out of this 'hotel' was the feeling that why bother running a hotel if you don't give a s**t about it and cannot even clean it properly.
Oh yeah I left with another feeling too..one of annoying itching from the many bites I got during my 2 night stay there-even though we moved rooms on the second night after complaining. Speaking to the female manager was a complete waste of time as she clearly had no people skills and just muttered something about ecolab.
So if you want to stay in dirty old fashioned rooms with the stench of stale smoke and go into your overdraft for 2 nights stay there then make your next choice the ironically named 'Quality Hotel'. It was special.

This hotel has one of the best...

Sep 2007, Ms S Kightley

This hotel has one of the best locations in Brighton... no sea view but within walking distance of everything you could need and not right on the noisy front. Ideal if you are going to a concert at the Brighton centre as its right next door!
However, the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired, the downstairs area/bar/restaurant is decorated very well but this does not carry on through to the rooms. The room was badly in need of painting, had burn holes in bedding and curtains. Shower sprayed everywhere apart from where you needed it to, soaking everything else in the bathroom and the floor. Towel rail hanging off the wall and rooms were very warm not ideal for the summer months when the window only opens a crack.
Also all of the corridors had a strange musty smell, however I might be tempted to stay here again just because of the location and the fact that you don't need to spend much time in the actual hotel itself. The breakfast was excellent and cant fault it though.
Rooms are expensive if not pre-booked online for what they offer. The staff were friendly although overworked and short staffed on busy check in times.

We went here for my friends hen do....
1 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss L A Aveyard

We went here for my friends hen do. Paid a lot of money for this so was expecting a nice decent hotel.
When we first stepped into the room it stank of smoke, looked dirty. There were disgusting looking stains on the bathroom wall. It was not the quality I had expected.
During the night the fire alarm went off at 3.30am in the morning we went downstairs to see what was happening - there was no staff in sight! Someone had to go into the back of reception to be told it was a false alarm and some drunk person had leant on the fire alarm. When I returned to the room I saw that the top cover of the sheets had a disgusting crusty brown stain on it that had blatantly not been washed. Then I saw red little bugs and a couple of see through bugs scuttling around on the sheets!! When I showed my friend this, we looked at her sheets and a little beetle scuttled across her bed - disgusting. I couldn't sleep that night at all. In the morning my friend discovered she'd been bitten about 8 times and they were very swollen. We went downstairs to complain and the man on reception couldn't speak English so he did not really know what we were on about. He didn't even ask who we were but just moved us to a different room on the same floor. This room seemed cleaner but still stank of stale smoke. The sheets seemed slightly cleaner but still some dodgy stains.
The next morning Christie had another 5 new bites so we went to complain downstiars. The manager was called as the staff on reception could not speak full English. She was rude and did not seem bothered and took our numbers and said that ecolabs would come and check the beds and give us a ring with the result and if then she would refund us. That was over a week ago now and still no call. Nearly all the staff cannot speak English and had a "i don't care" attitude.
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!

After reading these very bad reviews,...

May 2007, Miss K F Morris

After reading these very bad reviews, I was quite worried about our weekend stay.
I booked with a hen party company, and I must say that this hotel was not full of stag and hen parties.
We checked in at 4pm there were 6 off us and we had 3 twin rooms which were very clean and spacious. When we checked in we had 2 rooms on 4th floor and 1 room on 3rd floor which they changed so we could all be together.
The bathroom was very clean, clean towels. Good drink making facilities in our room, clean linen and comfy beds.
The buffet style English breakfast was amazing, a good choice of cereals, fresh and dried fruits, fresh ice cold milk, jugs of various fruit juices, and rolls with cold meats or jams.
The help yourself cooked breakfast was very good, freshly cooked items being bought out constantly, we ate at 10am both mornings and the choice was vast and freshly cooked.
We had a great time in Brighton and would use this hotel again and again, one lift was out of order on our last day but that didn’t faze us.
Brilliant weekend many thanks.

Oct 2006, Mr K Brathwaite

Do not go here ever - This is the worst hotel I have ever been to, "Quality" somebody is having a right laugh, unfortunately it was at my considerable expense.
The whole place has an air of grime and decay and a nonplussed attitude that the staff seemed to wear with pride. My room was small, dank, dark and thoroughly depressing; it made me think I had been thrown into a police cell. Arrrggghhh!
Brighton in contrast is a lovely place to visit, full of pubs, restaurants and clubs and with a better place to stay it would have been so much better.

Oct 2006, Mr Ed O'Connell

My partner and I stayed at the Quality Hotel Brighton in August 2006. Our initial booking was from the 4th to the 7th August. We were somewhat concerned because of the earlier reviews, but as it was Brighton Pride and accommodation was almost impossible to find, we booked.

Sure enough we arrived on the 4th of August and were given a room on the 4th floor with a side view of West St. We had hoped for a double bed but given the circumstances (Busiest weekend of year) the two singles were actually fine and very comfortable. The room also had small bathroom, wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilities.
Unfortunately no fridge and the room was very small, which was a pity as Brighton Pride seems to push the price up heavily for the weekend of Pride, and for that price I expected a fridge.
Breakfast was included, and we both agree that the buffet breakfast provided, absolutely everything you could want, was fantastic. Hot and cold and replenished again & again.
On our arrival at breakfast you realised just how full the hotel was. The staff were helpful and courteous at all times even though very busy with the volume of people.
So happy, with the location, service, breakfast, and car parking discount, and the fact that the room rate returned to normal, we booked another night in the Quality Hotel Brighton.

Looks quite impressive from outside!...
5 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss H Thomas

Looks quite impressive from outside! When you step in to the foyer, there was a strange, stale smell. The lifts took us to floor 5 where we found our 'Double' room, which was tiny, cramped and very dated.
Wall paper was peeling off the wall and the mirror was cracked. Bathroom was clean but there weren't enough towels for 2 adults and a baby. We had asked for a cot, but it didn't arrive. To be honest, we were quite pleased about that as there simply wasn't enough room for it!
Our sleep was very disturbed, not because of the noise outside (which you can expect as it is Brighton and people were out til 3/4am which is fair enough!) but because of the heat! It was boiling! There was a thermostat to turn down, which we did but it didn’t make any difference.
Breakfast was, in contrast, really nice. Buffet style traditional breakfast and the staff were really helpful and polite. We paid £65 for all this. On the boards in the foyer, it says rooms from £125. I would have been furious if I had paid that for it.
Not the quality I expected!

Apr 2006, Mrs Jm Bolam

2 adults and 1 child crammed into a single room with double bed and folding camp bed. Room smelled like a chemical toilet. Decor shabby and not bright and modern as described. It was so unsuitable we felt nauseous with the smell and checked out early.
We were desperately trying to find alternative accommodation walking round hotels with our cases and child on a busy Saturday evening until we finally found a great Bed and Breakfast of superior quality and half the price.
We are awaiting refund from Expedia who are going to ring us 3 weeks after complaint to discuss it further. The place is filthy and misrepresented as Quality Hotel which exploits people by capitalising on the name Quality and nearby attractions.
Don’t waste your money. Stay anywhere but here.

How this hotel can justify charging...

Nov 2005, Mrs S Hickman

How this hotel can justify charging the rates it does is beyond me.
Poor quality, bad service, unclean and everything appeared to be falling apart. It was like staying in a hotel that had been put together using left over material, glue and staples.
Almost like a set, great for initial visual effects, but in reality Awful!!!
I am sure that I picked up food poisoning too or it was the shock of having forked out to stay there, but I was in bed for three days after leaving.

Brighton is fantastic, brilliant...
3 / 10
Oct 2005, Mr F Abbott

Brighton is fantastic, brilliant shopping nightlife and sights to see.
When visiting Brighton I would tell anyone NOT to stay in this hotel, it was quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
The check in time is 3pm and has no flexibility so I had to wander the streets for an hour and a half before i could check-in, just what you need after a 5hr journey. It took 40 minutes to check in as everyone waits till 3pm.
The staff were very unhelpful and un-informative. The wine, fruit and other extras in our package were not in our room as paid for, we had to chase them.
Room service was not available due to a "technical fault"!
Dinner was booked for 6.30pm with a phone call to confirm this from reception, we arrive to eat on time and are told that they are not ready, "please wait 20 minutes", we eventually sit down at 7.15pm,45 minutes later.
On the plus side the food was very nice and breakfast was very wide ranging.
The rooms were dark small and out of date, the shower was broken, the bed was very hard, the remote control didn’t work and the room not cleaned at all during our stay.
The staff were very unhelpful, no smiles, no please or thank-you's, not even a hello upon check-out which took 30 minutes. Some customer service training would not go amiss here!!
Overall I would compare this hotel to Faulty Towers only it wasn’t funny after spending over £100 per night!!
